  1. Dave... I love the updates withe these comparison pics. I just love your machining work your do. I seriously need to get that mill and lathe.... just don't have the fundage for it yet. That is so crazy the comparison of the scoop to the 1/25 scale car...lol I swear the scoop is the real deal. the carbon fiber looks perfect. I am looking forward to the day you get back to this build but I know you gotta get that awesome 1:1 done first.
  2. Ray... Thank you very much. I was shooting to get it as close as I could. I know it could still be better though. Scott... Thank you so much my brother. Its nice to finally get some of your's and Charlies parts on this car. Dave.... Thank you. I am happy with the way it turned out. Art... What can I say brother but thank you. Looking forward to seeing you at the DSC. John... Thanks my Big Brother. It means a lot saying that about the funny car. I do have to admit it would be totally cool if I was able to meet the "Snake" and show him this build. IT was great talking to you as well. Looking forward to hanging out in a few weeks. Steve... Thank you. I really appreciate the kind words. Dave... Thank you. I feel that I hit a small milestone getting it assembled. Randy... Thank you very much. I wish I had better camera skills to make the pics look better...lol. Yeah I got to admit that now I can't wait to see what the tranny will look like with the added decals. I know it will just give it that extra touch. Alright after taking a look at Tims most recent post on his Henry J... It has me motivated to get some work done on my own build....lol
  3. Tim... that right there is just plain Gorgeous!!! man that is some mighty fine craftsmanship. This has me inspired to go get some bench time on my funny car. Beautiful work my friend. Hey by the way are you going to be going to the GSL this year by chance??
  4. Randy... I am totally speechless again. Your work is just flat out Impressive. Man you are knocking it out of the park. I know what you mean about time is flying and the DSC is just around the corner. I am trying to get as much done as I can to the Funny Car for everyone to see there. Hoping to have the body in primer for it. Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to your next update.
  5. Paul... thank you I will add that detail. Thank you for letting me know i missed that. Tim... thank you so much for the kind words. Seeing your work makes me want to build better and get that end mill and lathe. I love what you are doing on your Henry J. Jeremy... thank you for the kind words.
  6. Mike... thank you for the kind words. Talk to you later this evening. Leonard... thank you very much. Its the closest I can get it.
  7. Danno... thank you my friend. Niko... thank you for the words of encouragement. you are right you dont see the tranny blanks on many of the older cars not sure when they actually started using them. Bob... thank you. I am happy with how it finally turned out. Its not perfect but good enough for me at this point. Now I can jump back onto the body tin work and body work.
  8. John... I just wet myself Brother.... The detail that you did to the hitch, the chains the hand winch.... Just awesome man. You KILLED it and it looks perfect!!!
  9. Brad... I couldn't get the color right on the printable fabric and on my test I did I had spots where I either put too much paint on and lost some of the fabric detail. but I couldn't get it to look like the colors I had here for some reason. As far as whats next, I was thinking about jumping back on the Body and body tin. I want to get it in primer before DSC but I am sure I will continue with some engine details in the mean time as well but for a change up going to tinker with the body this week. I will also get some sizes for you on the decals for the tranny stuff this week.
  10. Nice Job on this. This turned out great and it is a very clean build. I am digging it.
  11. Art.... Nice job on this my Brother. The color turned out great. I am digging this build. those quickie builds are great aren't they. I need to do one of them soon.
  12. Here is the tranny with the clutch pedal bolted in place: Here is a view from the opposite side: View of the clutch pedal from the back. I added a black wash to the pedal foot pad: Here is an up-close shot of the shifter plunger area:
  13. Ok.... So I got some more bench time in today and I can say that I am 98% done with the Transmission. I still need to do a couple more things. I need to pull the bolts out of the inspection plates and glue them in as well as glue the shifter plunger in. After that I can call it good. But It will still get a little more attention afterwards. I will also need to add a Simpson decal on the Tranny Blanket and I will be adding a couple of the decals to the bell housing. alright I have kept you waiting long enough, I will show you the pics of this things now. Ok so after gluing the lenco pieces together and bolting it to the bell housing, I started by putting some medical tape together and painting a color close to what I saw on the real one to add around the shifter plunger area: Next I had added the main blanket and the straps to the Tranny, You can see that tanish/brownish color through the hole: I added a tad bit more weathering to the blanket: Here is an end shot so you can see all of the bolts. I took the brass bolts and polished them with some Mothers metal polish:
  14. Clayton.. Thank you. Its close enough to call good at this point...lol Dave... Thank you, I had to add some weathering to the blanket to make it look a little more realistic. Joe... Thank you so much. Yep the transmission is just about done. Those medical tapes work great. I think I like the Johnson and Johnson better though. And Trust me I have been hearing the clock tick for quite some time.... I need to hurry and finish this build so you guys can see the couple I will be starting after this. Yes I am going to work on multiple builds after this one. Mitch... Thank you. Dave... Thank you very much John... What can I say I wanna be like you, I would have to say there are many other builds that are better than this.
  15. Mitch it is in the Big Boys Section. Here is the link. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78118&page=1
  16. It looks as if it was maybe just cast iron steel or possibly black. Here is a link I found: http://www.hotrod.com/features/history/stories/1342-reher-morrison-era-pro-stock/
  17. John.... My Big Brother..... I don't know what to say but that trailer is BAD A$$!!! Holy smokes man. you have knocked it out of the park my friend, So Awesome
  18. Ok Fellas.... Little bit of an early afternoon update. I was able to meet up with my buddy Brad (aka Gasser59) at a local swap meet today and he had given me some fabric paper printed with some color that he took from the one picture I have but Prior to showing those I have a mock up of the blanket with the colors I painted to see how it all looked together. Here are the pics... Here is the Transmission blanket mocked up: Close up of the Tranny Blanket: Alright here is the printable fabric material that Brad brought to me today. He took a color sample from the picture I have of the blanket and printed me up some small sheets of the material. I decided to try and use some of Tamiya's Weathering pigment to dirty it up to see how it would look: Then I decided to take and paint some of the white material on the edges to see how this material would look painted with the colors I mixed up for the medical tape and did a slight weather on it: Here are the straps next to one another to see if there were any differences: This is another shot of my painted pieces (the ones on the right) versus the printed fabric's with weathering on the left: Next up I am starting to assemble the Transmission. I am going to glue all of the lenco pieces together and was going to do a quick polish on the brass bolts and then get them installed. Then I will work on getting the inspection plates glued to the bell housing as well as getting the Lenco transmission bolted up to the bell housing. From there I will start to get the clutch pedal ready to be installed. I need to trim up some of the hardware and do a quick little polish or clean up of the pedal assembly. I will show some pics later what I accomplish. Thanks for looking
  19. Steve... I apologize that it took me a few days to answer this question and get pics up, but here are the two medical tapes I typically use: Here they are in their package, Johnson & Johnson and 3M: Here are side by side comparisons: Johnson & Johnson on the left, 3M on the right:
  20. Brad... Hey it was great to see you today. Thank you for some of that printed fabric you brought for me. I will show some pics in a few with it. John.. Thanks Buddy. the fabric is some neat stuff for sure. Jim... Thank you. Its been sorta tuff to match this exactly. Mitch... Hey its great to hear from you. I apologize that I haven't gotten back to you on the PM's sometimes I don't see them. I will have to email so I can see some pics of your build
  21. Tim... That Jig is a work of art. Loving the progress. I am super impress at the whole rear end set up. I would of sworn this was the real deal. Seeing those coil overs with everything, It just blows me away. This is one Incredible build. I can't wait to see what you show up next
  22. Brad... that is some killer work you have been doing. Everything looks great. I can not wait to see this in person next month. You are calturing every little detail. Very Impressive my friend.
  23. Steve... I think you are right that it would if been much easier to build a 1:1 replica and probably leas of a headache...lol. As for the material for the blankets I use both Johnson and Johnson medical tape and 3M medical tape. I will post pics of both of them when I get home from work. Kevin... thank you on your input on the colors. I think I got the outer bands are as close as I am gonna get them and will call them good. Mike... thank you Art... thanks Brother. I have to get as much as I can get done in the next month for you guys to see at the desert scale classic. Scott... I apologize that I missed your comment on this. Thank you for your input. Manfred... I apologize as well that I missed your comment. I never thought about that with a microfiber cloth for cleaning lens. That may work too. Brad... I Had no clue there was a swapmeet this saturday... hmm maybe I will have to run up there for a few and I can bring this build to show you.
  24. Tyrone.... I always enjoy your updates and love your work. This is looking awesome. I can't wait to see what you do next.
