  1. Ok for the next few pics I am just going to show piece by piece of how I build the Clutch window cover:
  2. Ok fellas... so tonight I continued on with working on the transmission specifically the bell housing. I added a support gusset on the clutch pedal mount as well as I got the bolt holes trilled and threaded for mid Lenco section that bolts to the bellhousing. Then I decided to work on the clutch window cover..... So I fabbed the support gusset on the top mount for the clutch pedal: Side View, I tried to get a little angle in on it: Here is all of the bolts in place on the Lenco section that is mounted to the Bellhousinig: Here is the start of all of the pieces that I will be using to make the clutch window cover. I made these pieces by holding my styrene above a lighter to soften it. When it got soft I used the clutch bellhousing to form the curve in the piece: Here is the Start of combining all of the pieces:
  3. Tim... Thank you very much. Danno... Thank you my friend Scott... Thank you Brother. I thought that I would give it a try with soldering and I was glad I had success with it. It worked out way better than I thought. the key was using flux and minimal solder. Hakan... Thank You. Randy L.... Hey man I actually goofed up and I didn't get my tickets to fly up in time. A while back the prices were not bad at all and I got busy and when I checked last it was going to cost me around 800 for the whole trip and I couldn't justify spending that much for an over night trip. I will definitely be there for the show in 2016 and the good news is that this build will be completed for sure by then. Randy. D... Thank you. I have to admit that I was having fun with the soldering. I have been able to improve my technique and am much happier with how stuff is turning out. I am actually thinking of soldering the chassis out of brass for my next build. Which by the way is going to be a very cool build. Clayton... Thank you very much. I was really happy with how that linkage set up turned out. I think it ended up better than how I first thought it would go. Bill... Thank you very much for the kind words. ok Time to post tonight's progress.....
  4. Mike... thank you. I can not wait until you get going on your Pisano Omni. Between your body, Chucks decals and the paint you laid down. That body is gorgeous. I am excited you are building a car for yourself. Brad... I will have to remember to posr disclaimers on some cool updates. It feels great making progress on this. I have a few minor things now with the bell housing and peddals to do. I have to add a support on the upper mount and then add the mounting holes for lenco Mid section. Then I should be ready for final primer, then paint. Well I also have to make the clutch window cover for the bell housing as well. Then I can move in to prepping the lenco pieces for paint And start on tranny blanket. I can't wait to see the pieces in paint. Bob... thank you very much. It has turned out better than I thought. although I spent more time than I thought but the extra time is worth it to me.
  5. Mark... those Valve covers are gorgeous. As I have said beforw Best resin engines in the business. People need to know how nice your stuff is and buy some engineS from you. Cant wait til you get back on this Jewel T. It is an awesome build.
  6. Joe.. thank you.... ummm Maybe I am off my rocker??? and I need the meds...LMAO. Well I am shooting to have this done for the desert scale classic as well I would love to take it to the GSL show as well but I will not compromise the build just to get it done by then. I don't want to ruah anything and screw something up but I promise I will be building my tail off on this to funish it for the Desert scale Classic. I definitely think its possible. That would be awesome if you culd make it to the show. It's definitely the best one we have here in the valley. Danno.... did I make you speechless at the moment
  7. John... Awesome work on both of these. Love both of them. Also Love your photo spot. Hope to be able to borrow it one day
  8. Ira... Awesome work on this on man. It turned out Killer!!!
  9. John... My Brother that pump is just outstanding. Man does it look Killer. You are the Man!! Nice work. Looks great with paint and cables
  10. Here is the back side of the clutch pedal trying to show the solder joint: Here it is mocked up again: Then I had to toss it into the chassis for a Mock up to get an idea of it together: Here is a top down view:
  11. Here I have added some bondo onto the clutch can: After sanding the bondo, I sprayed a quick coat of primer to get an idea on how it looked. and as I expected because I was rushing it I had the primer swell the bondo: Here I have sanded the clutch can a little and glued in the the mounts for the clutch pedal and linkage lever: Here is the connecting rod from the Clutch pedal to the linkage lever. Made from RB-Motion Rod ends, all parts were super glued with the green zap a gap CA: Here I have soldered the foot pad onto the clutch pedal assy:
  12. Well its time for another update for all of you. I continued working on the transmission clutch pedal and linkages..... Here is the start of modifying the Pro Tech 1/16th scale Throttle Linkage brackets: Here is the other Pro Tech 1/16th scale throttle linkage bracket and Future Attractions clutch pedal that I soldered together using Tix Flux and 60/40 solder: Here is the back side to show the solder joint: Here is the Clutch mount that will be glued into the bell housing. I made it too short and a soldered and extension in to push it out a little farther: Here is a mock up of the updated Pieces:
  13. Mark... those are some awesome parts and would of made my job easier if I would of asked you if you had a Clutch can like that...lol Love your work man. Dave... Thank you. It has been fun working on the tranny.
  14. Brad... thank you. I think you know me by now with having to change things up...lol Tim... Thank you. I have been trying to keep myself on track with the vision i have when this is done. I think Ibkeep raising the bar on myself and having higher expectaions because I want it to look just right. Mark... I didnt even think of asking you. That would of been the best solution. The funny part is I did t think aboit xhanging it until recently when I started to look at it to plan out what I was going to do to make the clutch linkages I would love to see it when photobucket is back working. Dave... Thank you. hmm you have me thinking now. I know I am going ti habe to weather the tranny blanket a little to get that worn sorta look like the one pic I have of it. Jim... thank you. I know the fustrations of working with small pieces. I feel at times I spend more time planing things out figuring it out... mocking things up than i do actually building...lol
  15. Jeff... that is awesome about the lathes you have access to. I am hoping one day to pick up a sherine mill and lathe. I would love to be able to turn some of my own parts. Ok gotta say that rear end housing is a beauty and I love the mock up of the body on the surface plate. The way that is is mocked uo reminds me of the 57 chevy 8 saw on street outlaws new episode last night. Keep up the great work and I look forward to more.
  16. Mike... Thanks. you and me both on seeing this done. I did get more done last night but wasnt able to upload the pics. i got the linkage cut and shapped as well as getting ine of the Pro Tech brackets soldered to the clutch pedal. hopefully I will get a chance tonight to get a little more work Done. Gluing the mounts on the clutch can and addind some bondo so I can get thoa bad boy in primer.
  17. Ray... thank you. The last thing I want for people to think that at all. Tyrone... thank you. Joe... I will have to remember to give a warning next time . Wait till you see what I got done last bight on those linkages. got them trimmed down and looks much better. Hey I forgot to let you know but I went thru my decals and I do have a set of those wonder wagon 1/16 scale from slixx if you still needed them.
  18. John... Thanks my Big Brother. You know I need step my game up to catch up to you your minions are putting me to shame
  19. Bob... Thank you. Danno... Thank you buddy. You know I need to bust my tail off to get this one done. I keep telling you, I hope to have done by next years Desert Scale. I would love to have it done for this years if possible...lol It will be close for sure I bet... haha Martin... Thanks man. Part of what I came up with was from a drawing that Dave (Comp1839) sent me. I have seen different funny cars from searching pics but I never had a pic of the army vega funny car that show this so I made the decision to make something look like the drawing Dave gave because I know it would be correct. Here is a shot of it Cheers:
  20. Ok Fellas... I have an early afternoon sneak peak I wanted to share what I was working on for the last hour and half. Got a little bit of a late start at the bench today. I was hoping to be at it much earlier. Anway here is more progress with the transmission. remember it is in the early stages..... So here is a sneak peak at all of the parts.... I have here parts from Pro-Tech, Future Attraction and RB-Motion..... Up-close shots of the parts: Here is what I am working on... The clutch pedal and the linkage. Keep in mind that I have to trim the two Pro-Tech linkages and then I will be soldering the clutch pedal lever and one of the Pro-Tech Brackets to each other. When this is done I think it should look somewhat ok:
  21. Henry... Thank you. Mike... Thank Mike. I should be getting a lot more work done this week. Mike you are up there in your builds. Heck I wish I could make my own bodies like you...lol Sflam.... Thank you. I can't wait until that day I can call it completed and see everything together. Joe... Thank you. You should know that I am nuts by now.... haha as to why I decided to add modifications to the clutch can. The fix was the easiest way I thought but I am just hopingn that once I get primer on it that I will be happy with the radius I sanded in around the whole thing. Dave... Thank you so much for the kind words... My next post which you will see in a sec is something I needed to say thank you for some information you sent me a while back and how I am making it on this car.
  22. Wow!! This is beautiful David. I think you did an outstanding job on this one. I would be very proud of it.
  23. Brad... Thank you. It was great to make some progress on something else on this build... LOL. I am actually looking forward to what I will be working on today. I am debating if I should make a run to Hobby Depot when they open up. I need to see in my supplies if I "Need" anything for what I am working on today... haha Bob... Thank you. You are right sleep is overratted... lol. I will be working on this pretty much most of the day I hope.
  24. Holy Smokes!!.... That is freaking awesome John!! Looks like someone cracked the whip on the minions. That Interior is just killer and I am totally digging it. Nice work Brother!!!
  25. oK Fellas... I got a few hours at the bench and I would of thought I would of accomplished more than I did tonight but I can't complain because I made progress. With all of the work on the Tins and Blower I figured I needed a little break from all of that. So I decided to work on the transmission and to be specific the bell housing. I had noticed in the pics that I have that the bell housing needed to be modified just a tad to look like the one in the Army Vega. So that is what I worked on tonight. Here are a few pictures: Here is the Bell Housing which is a Mark Johnson Resin piece that came with my 426 Elephant Hemi which was purchased from him. I have to tell you if you haven't ordered any engines from him well you need to because he make the best 1/16th scale resin engines in the business: Here was the start of pieces of plastic that I was cutting, which will be glued to the chamfered end of the bell housing. Now the bell housing in the real car had more of a radius on it as to why I decided to add pieces to this one: So here is all of the pieces super glued on with the green label Zap-A-Gap CA, and the next step is to sand it all down to shape it: Well after what seemed like a while, here is the where it is for the night. I will pick it up in the morning. I shaped it all by hand which took a little while. It will need another piece glued to it as you can see in this pic and then I will be adding bondo to make sure everything is nice and smooth: Here is a shot from the opposite side: Here is more of a side view of it. Now I am debating if I need to make the radius on the edge a little bigger but I think I should add a coat of primer to see how it looks like that before I go and sand anymore off it: So the next thing I will be working on is adding the the clutch pedal mount and levers to the bell housing. I think it is going to be fun to get it fabbed up. It will be a mixture of Pro Tech and Future Attraction Photo-Etch parts as well as some RB Motion rod ends. So Stay Tuned....
