  1. Also it has been a few decades since I have gone over the GW Bridge, I recall getting stuck in the wrong travel lane. How is that bridge to navigate?

Oh… I’ll probably be in the NYC area between 6:30 to 9:30 AM… I don’t need to be at the PAL Building at opening time.

    Thanks in advance!

Spyder, will it be a Saturday you will be going through NYC? If so, you shouldn't have to much rush hour traffic to mess with, and even though it's been about 10 years for me being in that area, I used to drive tractor trailer, I had little problems going over the GW Bridge. If I was going to Boston or Hartford, etc., I would take I-80 to the GW the go I-95 (Cross Bronx Expressway) and continue up I-95 then I-84 if I was heading to western Mass or Hartford area. If you take I-84 all the way to I95, cross the GW, then I-80, that looks like it should get you right up to the Paterson area, which by your "Mapquest" pics, is where you're heading. A bit of trucker's advice, though, watch your signs to make sure you stay on the right routes, and usually the best times to get through the NYC area is late at night, early morning, or weekends. If you can I'd shoot for the 6:30 part of your time frame.

  2. I know that one  Let alone get a model in the mail as soon as you pull it out to look at your kit the cat is in the box! This little girl takes everything

At least my cats don't do that, I don't allow them on the desk. One of my "girls" loves to sleep on top of closed boxes, though! Her favorite is my International Payhauler 500, and at least it's a strong box.

  3. Thanks for the reply. Well I got some cat hairs in the paint on the body . got them out but left some fine lines. So i guess I am just trying to smooth it out before the next coat.

That's why I TRY to keep the cats out of my model area. It doesn't work, though!

  4. Highway......I had lost the taillight lenses .......so I made some using the red lens from a dog collar that flashes at night ......I popped of the lens and cut and filed 4 round lenses to fit the rear end.....I also hooked up led lights so the rear does light up....thank`s,John

I'll have to see if I can find one of those collars and try that in one of my tractor trailer builds. Thanks, John.

I also have the 1:64 scale Fire Limo, Explorer Garbage Truck, School Bus Pontoon Boat, Ford Tree Shaker, and Mustang Switchblade Lawn Mower from "Monster Garage", as well as about a dozen of the "American Chopper" motorcycles.

  6. thanks man, ill have to see what might fit the truck better

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the regular Swampers he has are based on the ones you have from Aoshima, I have the Toyota from them with the Swampers and they look very similar. His Swamper Boggers and Baja Claw tires are just as impressive!!

  7. Out in Oregon where I am from it is very common for truckers to remove the sleeper on what ever truck they happen to own at the moment and what they do is find some whether molding that will fit the hole that is left and have a custom piece of glass made. It makes for a really big rear window. I wish I could find a picture.

Yeah, and looks better than a few I've seen around the WV/PA/Oh area with a piece of plywood covering the hole. That must be the hillbilly/redneck way of doing it!

  8. Silly me  , I understand how you are using it now, the raised detail is on the backside of the plastic. If you used thin enough plastic that would even give you a little lip for the edge of the plate.

Thanks, I will keep my eyes open the next time I go to Micheals.

Aaron, you should find it somewhere near the fabric dept., and I also found one that has a smooth edge that looks like a mini pizza cutter, I haven't tried it yet, but I guess it may work for ribbing like you would find on the sides of a trailer. Just make sure you use it on something soft so the raised detail comes out on the back, when I tried it I had it on my cutting mat and had problems.

  9. How does this tool work? It seems like it would make dimples instead of bumps, which would work for flush rivets but not raised rivets or am I missing something?

Aaron, first, the ponce wheel is very similar to a pizza cutter, but it does not have sharp edges for cutting. It is actually for fabrics, but had read it was useful for rivets. It does not work on thick kit plastic, you have to make your rivets on evergreen sheet plastic no thicker than about .015 thick. It does make small dimples on the side you roll the wheel on, but on the oppisite side you get rivet "bumps". I will try to post a couple of pictures of a piece of practice rivets I tried on a piece of evergreen .010 sheet, but I'll have to see if I can get some contrast on it first so you can see the detail.
