  1. Feel free to do so if you want Rick, the MCM Truckstop is the Iowa 80 of the model world, so we have PLENTY of parking!! The trailer is looking great. Are you using the Coors decals on it? If so, set the reefer at 38 degrees, that's what they haul it at! That was one of my favorite loads I ever hauled, over 2000 cases of cold Coors staring at me when I climbed in the trailer to put load locks in it, that made me thirsty!! Oh, just for the scale gearjammers that haven't driven the real things, the Iowa 80 reference is to the Iowa 80 truckstop in Walcott, IA, the world's largest truckstop. If I remember correctly, it sits on over 600 acres of land, and is a very nice place to spend a night! Here's a link to their website. http://iowa80truckstop.com/
  2. Most all of us use Photobucket or Fotki for our pics. There is a tutorial on using Photobucket to post pics in the Tips section, and it is pinned so it will be easy to find.
  3. Well, since it looks like I'm not the only one stuck in neutral, the deadline has been extended until June 30, 2012. That will still give us six months for the forum to pick the "winner" at the first annual MCM Truckstop and Chrome Shop truck show before the world ends!!
  4. Overall, it looks very nice Jim, but I sorry, I don't care for the engine choice. Skyline enthusiasts everywhere would cry seeing such a disgrace under the hood, I know I am!
  5. Not a problem Nick, and if you get to Michael's before me and find some that is thin enough, let me know what size it is!!! With the reissue of the old Chevy/GMC wrecker from Revell this fall and the 6 or so "Midnight Cowboy" wreckers I have floating around, I'M GONNA NEED IT!!!
  6. If I remember correctly Sean, that was on Stacey David's "Gearz" on Speed.
  7. Did you not read this!?!? I'm just joking around with you about not reading it, but here is what I found for winch cable, but these particular two look a little thick for a regular tow truck. I was thinking more about cables for my Can Do wrecker when I bought it, since the big wreckers have thicker cables! Here's a quick mock up of it on an old bed. I don't know if you have a Michael's Craft store up north or not, but most craft stores should have a picture frame department, just look there and see if you find some small enough to go for a smaller wrecker. I'll look sometime hopefully soon at my local Michael's and see what I find too, and if you have one up there close I'll give you the size to look for.
  8. OK, I'll get you on the list, and don't forget to post pics of what you're starting with.
  9. Wow, that is simpler, I did not know about doing it that way. Thanks Eelco!
  10. Yes, there is, but this method will only show the last year's topics, anything past that it will not show. Go to "My Profile", and once you are at your profile page, click "Find My Content" underneath your profile picture. Once you do that, a page will come up with all topics that you have posted in or started. Above the first topic, you should see a box on the right hand side that has "View all topics (your name here) has posted in or started" with an arrow beside it. Click on the arrow and it opens a drop down menu and the second choice is "View all topics (your name here) has started". Highlight that and click the "Update" button next to the box. That will give you each topic you started between now and June 08, 2010.
  11. If the world's here that long!!!
  12. Or doesn't say anything at all!!
  13. I just wish that some people who want to quote one little part of a post or just ask a question one pic WOULDN'T QUOTE THE ENTIRE POST!!!
  14. I have been thinking, and since I have not been working on anything much, and some others are stalled right now too, and seeing has how free time will be cut down on my side because I HAVE to hope I land a job soon since I found I have no more unemployment available, I have been thinking of extending the deadline. Does something like maybe June 30, 2012 sound good to everybody?
  15. Since you follow this racing MUCH more than I do, wasn't there a car or two that caught fire at the ALMS race in Watkins Glen last week, too? I thought I seen one in flames while I was rewinding through the first part of that race to get back to where I had stopped watching the NASCAR Camping World truck race that was on before it last weekend.
  16. Would you like to share with the rest of the class, Dennis!?!?!
  17. Would this be the thread you are referring to? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45049&pid=477372&st=0&#entry477372
  18. Not a problem, if you do decide to drop the trailer, just let me know and I'll take it off the build list. Nick, you could use some tubing for the winch barrels and cut some circles out of some sheet plastic for the ends. If you want it to look like the winches have the gears on them, if you know anyone that has that nasty habit called smoking (like I'm doing right now ), see if you can have the wheel out of one of their old lighters, then wrap some thin picture hanging wire around it for the winch cable. As for the sling, see if you can find some thin vinyl or rubber in your local craft store or even around the house and cut it into strips the right size. Then take a couple pieces of plastic tubing and wrap the strips around the tubing and you have your sling!
  19. As long as the wire is smooth and stiff to hold the shape, that would work. I forget what the size of the wire I seen at Michael's was that would been good for those details, but for some reason 24 gauge comes to mind. Keep in mind, the size of the wire gauge is the same as model scale, the larger the number, the smaller the wire.
  20. So I must be pretty lucky!! I just wish they would have given me some winning lottery numbers!!
  21. I just checked my Boss 429 kit, and the valve covers ARE INSTALLED COREECTLY and according to this picture, it also appears Scott put the wires as close as he could get to the real thing!
  22. My dog didn't chime in with any ideas, mainly because I don't have a dog!!! Seriously though, I do see the point Harry is trying to get across, I don't know how many times I've seen "Watch me build my XYZ" first posted in "On the workbench", then five minutes later "My XYZ build" shows up in "Drag Racing Models", then heaven forbid it might have a resin body, five minutes later "My XYZ build" shows up again in "Resin", then help us if it isn't a large scale, it shows up five minutes later as "Watch me build my XYZ" in "Big Boys" too!!! I've seen the same thing happen with people doing their own resin parts, too. They'll post something in the "General" section letting you know about their new "company", then post the same thing in "Resin", then just to make sure you know, they'll post it in the "Links, Advertisers, and Web Sites" section too! One exception to this though should be for the community builds, because I know in the one I'm putting on, many of the builders participating have their own WIP thread (and only one I hope ) going on the build, but they will also keep the community build updated in the build thread as well.
  23. No George, it looks like he has them correct, and the plugs appear to be going in the top of the vavle covers the way they should and not near the exhaust. It's not hard to get the covers in that kit right, there is a big "Boss 429" stamp on them! As long as it is right side up, the valve covers are right. Nice job Scott and wwelcome to the forum!
  24. Is this seller also one of those...uh, how can I say this nicely...less intellegent sellers who put perfect scans of the decals with no watermarks, labeling, or such to avoid duplication? If it is, give me the link, those decals won't be "Ultra Rare" any longer!!! Seriously, though, I don't know who the one main seller that does this is, but I have dozens and dozens of NASCAR decals this idiot has posted where a simple copy and paste gives you a nice clear imgage of the decals. I may never use them, but hey, thanks buddy for the hundreds of free decals!! Of course, I haven't tried to print them yet either, so the joke might be on me!!!
