  1. Lee, I would guess since this thread is focused mostly on diecasts, I believe Jim is probably talking about the reviews of the diecasts in the back of the magazine. I can't speak for Jim, but I don't think there would be anyone who would like to see the new kit reviews disappear.
  2. I think that's a good idea, because it seems almost every week there seems to be that type of thread posted. By the way, my personal favorite for a chrome stripper is Dawn Power Dissolver!!!
  3. That looks good Davin! At least in my opninion, I think you hit the color dead on. Is the engine paint that glossy without any clear? It has a very nice shine to it.
  4. Well, as for kits 1, 4, and 5, if there are any I haven't seen them, and in the case of 4 and 5, you find any, LET ME KNOW! I can be better help with the Lambos, though. I believe Monogram did make a kit if the 25th Anniversary edition with all the cladding, possibly in the mid to late 90s. Revell/Monogram also had a snaptite 1/25 scale Diablo, which is on the list of 2011 fall releases to be reissued, and AMT made a Diablo kit as well in the early to mid 90s, it was issued in a 3 car "Exotics" pack and I think also as a stand alone kit. I hope this helps.
  5. Terry, I wholehearted respect your opinions, this is sort of apples and oranges, but I'm going to throw some peaches into the mix! It was mentioned by Jeff earlier about the older unpainted diecast kits, one of which I had in my younger days, an Ertl early 80s Ford Bronco that received many 10 year old playtime miles! I don't play with them anymore (much ), but I do still enjoy a diecast kit every now and then, as I showed earlier in the thread with the diecast Impala police car, but here are where the peaches come in, and also why I highlighted the portion of your post, highlighted in blue, Harry quoted in his response I quoted above. These are just a couple of my "rainy day" diecast kits I quickly pulled of the shelf, and in the apples and oranges, these "peaches" are clearly not prebuilt diecasts. Testors/Italeri Corvette ZR-1 Testors BMW X5 These are a couple I have already built, both were Testors Lincoln Mint diecast kits. 69 GTO Judge 69 Charger I do agree most with prebuilt diecast are probably collectors and not builders, but then again there are probably more like me who are both. I have a quite extensive diecast collection as well as my collection of all media of kits, while most of my diecast will never be disassembled and rebuilt, such as my Dale Earnhardt diecasts like this one. I guess I just see it this way, saying diecasts are not models would be just like saying model railroaders are not modelers, which is far from the truth. I also dabble in railroading too, and much of my rolling stock are kits like this!
  6. I find it ironic that my reply involved police cars as reference, because until Danno mentioned your police service, I had totally forgot!
  7. I have to agree totally with Harry, and here is a great example. The front car on the top rack of this car carrier is an Impala police car, and the car directly behind it is also an Impala police car. The difference?? The second car is a DIECAST!! Both are the same type of car, and the diecast was also in a kit form, so it was just like the snap kit in front of it in assembly. I feel just because a body may be metal, it still qualifies as a MODEL!!
  8. I offically hate you James!!! Of course if I'd drag myself out to the hobby shop, maybe I'd have my Lonestar by now too!
  9. I don't know if these will help much or not. Holmes 750 Brochure Holmes 850 Brochure I found those on the Zip's Truck Equipment website. Zip's Truck Equipment
  10. Nice work on all three Jerry! To help Jerry out, yes Hugh, the farm tractor and backhoe are both AMT plastic kits.
  11. Jim, you'd actually be surprised, I've seen one or two hauling lowboys in my time! Now of course, I think the load was a tank too, or another type of speciallized government cargo, so Uncle Sam might look the other way on weights! The most common I've seen while on the road was either moving vans or enclosed car carriers, Reliable Carriers have many custom sleeper units like this one. The only limitations I could think of is maybe you can't haul as much as a normal truck, and I surely wouldn't want to try to back into a tight dock!!
  12. I guess you've never watched "Ax Men" on the History channel, have you!?!? The yarder pulls the logs up or down the mountain to the landing area where they are proceesed and then loaded on the trucks. Here's a YouTube video of a similar tower in action, even though not logging. And one actually pulling logs.
  13. Jim, just from my experience, I've bought multiples for many reasons. In some cases, as with the 5 AMT Coronet Pro Streets on the shelf now and probably 6 others I had in my collection before losing them in a fire, I bought all of those mainly for the engines and tires. The 4 or 5 Lindberg Crown Victorias and (as of now) 2 Lindberg Dodge Charger police cars are for different law enforcement agency builds, and possibly in the case of the Crown Vics and the spare lightbars in the Chargers, parts since the Chargers already have 7 unused lightbars and if I don't use the equipment from the Vics, more emergency equipment for the parts box. That's just a small sample of the multiples I have for different reasons, and that's not counting the 2 to 3 dozen Dale Earnhardt kits I have multiples of for use with just about as many aftermarket decal sheets of different paint schemes!
  14. You sound like me Bill, I don't know what "completed" even means!!
  15. Also along the lines of time, don't forget our PM system here shows the last time that either party involved viewed the PMs. I would say if they have read the message and not responded within maybe two or three days, send another PM and double check. If the times in the PM show they have read the second message and still not bothered to respond after another day, move on to the next offer in line. On a side note, which I had happen recently with a trade offer I was working on, if you have someone interested in trading and you ask them a question and the person answers your question, ANSWER THEM! I made an offer and the other party and they asked me a question, which I answered and they read after I replied with the answer, and that member never seen fit to respond to my answer. That tells me your not worthy to be on my trade list, and have been added to my personal "BAD TRADER" list!
  16. You better not buy them all, leave some for me!!!
  17. Why should it NOT be here? The pick up section clear states "NON COMMERICAL TRUCKS"! Hugh, this IS the proper place for this thread. It's obvious to me you want to see some commerical trucks, regardless of the fact of whether or not they need a CDL to drive. It's just my opinion, but even a one ton wrecker like this one is proper for the trucks section, not the pick up section!
  18. One other marking I have seen there is no marking at all, for example using the kit you mentioned: - '30 Ford Touring-'Early Iron' series price 25.98 Anything with no markings like that is a factory sealed new kit. I forget exactly where on the site they are listed, but the different codes are explained on the site.
  19. I wish they would be that smart! I wouldn't have had to buy an old "Warbird" issue JUST for the Trans Am decals! The kits might be junk, in my opinion, but at least MPC was smart to get around the license issue and still offer correct decals!
  20. Rob, nice job, but I think Hugh meant trucks like this. And of course my personal favorite!
  21. Where did you see the dually being reissued? The only thing I've seen with dual rear wheels being reissued by Revell is the GMC wrecker in the 2011 fall releases.
  22. Or hopefully Lowe's, I don't have a Home Depot close to me!
  23. Well, the pic I posted earlier in the thread with the Power Dissovler bottle in it was in about 3-4 hours, and completely removed both the chrome and the lacquer undercoat, with just a slight cleanup with an old toothbrush required. The other parts were "spray and forgot", and required only a water washup.
  24. Very nice so far, Dave. I had an 88 GTA in a very similar color, and ironically enough, right out of high school!
