  1. No idea, I personally haven't seen many 50's mercury's in my neck of the woods. The pictures on line it seems that the U-shape came on both, but I can't tell if its just google pulling up the wrong model. I did some digging on the model kit also. Like Dan said, there are some 1/32 kits. If you would like to do 1/25 there is a resin kit but you'll have to chrome the bumpers yourself. Seems Hendrix man. did the conversion, but I have no idea if they are still in business so I found one that's for sale. You will have to use the AMT 56 Ford. I'll attach some pictures and some links. I don't know if posting links to outside sites is okay, so I apologize if it is against the rules. Just let me know and I'll fix it right away! http://resinrealm.net/Star/HendrixGallery/HendrixAll.html http://www.modelroundup.com/product-p/hm-56mercmont.htm
  2. Yep, you got it. 56' Merc Montclair. It seems there was also a trim model called the Mercury Monterey, but from pictures they seem identical. (Maybe a Canada vs US market namechange?)
  3. I'll look around and see if I can find a 78-80' regal kit. You could probably get away with using the 81, but it would be a lot of cutting up. I'll attach a 78/79 (80 has dual headlights, same body) and an 81-87 regal so you can see the difference.
  4. Yep, the GNX kit will work for you if you don't mind being the exact bodystyle. Unfortunately, 78-80 is a different bodystyle from the 81-87 regal. You can use the NASCAR kit, but I can't remember if they made a 78-80 model kit. Good luck none the less, if it doesn't bother you being slightly different then for sure go with the grand national kit.
  5. Slot car drag racing has caught on here in my area over the last few years, so I thought I'd share a few of our cars. Forgive me, I'm not a great model builder. We have really started doing "no-bar" cars, which basically means no wheelie bars at all. Bandit resin 79 Malibu (About to get blowed apart and converted to an 80) Original Johan SC/Rambler kit 74 Impala Promo 55 Post and TLB 55 replica we had built by a good friend This habit is too damned expensive! I've got two boxes full of them and am now building a 55' 150 model of our real car and a 91 modelhaus caprice wagon. Sheesh! Thanks for looking!
  6. Yep, I simply meant the blue one was built by an individual, not an aftermarket company.
  7. According to the C10 forums, there may have been a handful but there aren't really any documented numbers. Most were built on the stock longbed frames and shortened the bed to fit. I scrounged a few pick up pictures. The rusty truck might be real, the blue is a conversion for sure. Sorry, I can't be of more help!
  8. Correct, most were made for Rail road companies. So technically, yes they made a crew cab 60' chevy. There are two running around my local car shows, but they're conversions using two Chevy/Fisher built 60' Chevy cabs. EDIT: Scrounged up some pics from the internet, hope this helps!
  9. Looks great, color fits it well. Nice job on the body work, can't tell the bumper wasn't a factory kit. Also, outstanding job on the cage.
  10. I'll let you use this one, "No Man's Treasure". It's everyone's trash lol, always wanted to name an edsel gasser that.
  11. He took the words right out of my mouth.
  12. Would be much appreciated.
  13. Hey brett, where did you get your back wheels? Or did you make them?
  14. First off, great looking models in there, I actually intended to use the sportsman frame and floor. There is a slight wheelbase difference, maybe 1/2" difference, I haven't started cutting it yet, but it's next on my list. Also, thank you for the kind word's David. I know this hobby isn't as popular with the younger folks in my area, I hope more do catch on though. Thanks for the advice. -Skylar.
  15. Love it, that second has to be my favorite though, with the Dodge Superbee in a close second. Would love to see more.
  16. Well, new modeler/first model. The AMT kit, is actually quite good. I also bought the Revell Sportsman 55' kit, and decided to mend these two together. My plans, are to basically build a pro mod, out of the unusual. So, I'm going to quit talking and just post some pictures... The two models... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=post&section=post&do=new_post&f=23 Rigging up the stance I want. And, I had the sudden misfortune. My 2 pound guard dog, decided he would take out his anger on Pontiac Headed Big Block. I hope no parts are missing. Working with the house wire. Hopefully, a 15 year old can build something cool.
  17. Waitin on my models to ship in...
