Ha! Yes that's always at the back of my mind! However, I find myself driving my cars less over the past couple years...and when I do, it's either indoors or on relatively flat terrain where there's less chance of a spill! For me now it's more about the build...I like that the larger scale allows you to have working features that are closer to the real vehicle, like working suspension and steering etc. for example, for this car I picked up some 1/18 scale hood hinges that work (made of metal with springs), and while 1/18 may sound like they are too small for a 1/10 hood, they actually look pretty good! The plan is to have a locking mechanism that's servo activated to remotely 'pop' the hood...lol!
Another example of what can be done with large scale... My Rothmans Ford Escort MK2 Rally Car..the body is lexan that I bought from a dealer in Finland, but the chassis is all homemade. RWD with a live axle mounted on leaf springs, the motor up front in the traditional 'north / south' orientation mated to a modded tranny connected to axle with a driveshaft located in the trans tunnel ! Also has working front disc brakes that are servo activated. The interior is all made from styrene except the seats...lol!
