  1. Hey guys...here’s another small update Made some progress on the HQ Premier nose panel, but ran out of time tonight....tomorrow I’ll lay down some color and some clear. Once it cures, I’ll get a mold done and run off some casts! 2. Hey guys...here’s another update ! Did a bunch of wet sanding, puttying, sanding, priming, sanding, puttying, sanding, priming, sanding........:crazy: well....you get the idea... till I basically said ‘thats it ... it’s not perfect, but perfect enough lol... decided to lay down some paint as it’s the surest way to see any defects... once the paint cures in a couple of days, I’ll make the mold and then make a couple of casts. This way, the casts will be just like the painted pieces and will require minimum work when assembling... Anywho, here’s a few pics...watcha think? I think it kinda looks like a HQ... 224A6E41-6342-456D-8D8E-7D2237BF90FB by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 5D7A2E6E-4CEE-43EF-B76A-A614EF22FC31 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 4617CEF1-3B4E-4A93-B997-48CFA164AB5C by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 349F7D2A-ABB4-4295-A846-B89B49A8DFF8 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 919816C7-6092-455E-B5A6-4F4EDEDF435D by Preston Lalan, on Flickr E5DCF99E-2050-4238-B1AB-E84E61BC33AF by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 126A58B7-47AA-4BCA-ADA1-6245679F006B by Preston Lalan, on Flickr
  3. Been working on a few bits.... I had to revise the HQ Nose panel that I started last year, the headlight surrounds were off, and then I also got the bumper built and just started to get the details like indicator light holes in.. once I get the HQ nose where I want it I will be making a cast of it and then modding said cast to the Premier version. The HX Premier version nose shown here, is a cast of the HX nose (off the Sandman) that has been modded! Still need to do some tidying up on it then will make a mold of it and run off some casts! Anywho... here’s a few pics of where it’s at ... watcha think? 12. Here’s another small update Did some shifty work last night ! Lol... then I shortened up the center console as well...also need to redo the arm rest on the console, will try to get some foam on it, then install the leather covering... Also made the tail light lenses...will be painting them tonight along with the shifter and console...: Anywho...here’s a few pics of the progress ...watcha think? 08193E7E-2E4C-4488-9545-53D24996F8D0 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 60038F3F-35A0-44E6-BC63-788B0120EFAE by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 6032AC96-1A96-4A44-9E31-F861A4A44588 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr FDE01FAE-B644-4999-9F5E-637E1684AE20 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr FF9E98D5-DF41-4405-BAEA-18569DF09954 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 1D471C88-0C4C-4CD2-9BB9-9437A2BF53F9 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr
  13. Wow...! I got another update !..... Yeah...I don’t believe it either! Got the mirror and the door handles painted and installed... but like a big doofus, I forgot to make a mold of the door mirror so I don’t haveta build it again : But it’s not permanently attached as yet, just being held on with some Tamiya double sided tape, so I guess I can pull it off later on and mold it... I used some bare metal foil for the mirror itself, but I think the next one i’ll paint instead ! I got the rear bumpers chromed up as well...I was rushing to get it done and I forgot to apply some glazing putty to fill up any pin holes, so now the bumpers look pitted in some areas they are being held on with double sided tape as well. I think later on I will cast another set and prep them properly before applying the chrome paint. Anywho...here’s a few pics of where it’s at....! 14. So another small update ...lol Been getting my butt kicked over the last few days trying to build the door mirror... finally I sucked it up and started to kick back .! Still need to tweak the arm on the mirror a bit, hoping to start laying down some paint and some chrome tomorrow when I get home from work...will get the rear bumpers done and installed as well. I believe that the Sandman door mirrors, handles, and window trim was blacked out from factory, but I’m torn between painting the mirror in black or painting it orange... Anywho....here’s a few pics...more to come soon! 15. Hey there Chris! Thanks mate! Lol...yea...I started with my shenanigans again...lol! I think I may have been an Aussie in a previous life.... there’s always a sense of ‘deja vu’ when I look at pics and watch videos especially the earlier ones...lol...and most of the lingo or slang seems so familiar...
  16. Got the door cards sorted...and installed..so it all fits together now :nice: got some badges I have to put on the dash, window winders for the door cards and a shifter for the center console. Started working on the rear Shaggin’ interior, figured out how I’m making it removeable...so whenever I want it to look stock, I can easily pull the whole flooring with seats out, then the wall panels and the roof liner. Also chromed the pole...lol...was too lazy to paint it, so I used some bare metal foil I had on it...looks okay, but I will eventually paint another pole to replace it. Hoping to get some more done tomorrow...need to make some exterior door handles and a door mirror, get ‘em installed and then start looking at the Sandman decals  Anywho...some pics... watcha think? 01CD574E-D753-48FE-81F1-070E60B707F0 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr DE35AE35-21AF-49C8-B3E9-31C5BF0D0B01 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr CAE34F07-E881-429A-B2EC-9D40E8B044AC by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 362F24CC-835E-40EF-A9BD-15A3A4B5B3E4 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 8C7DD450-8A5D-4A7E-8369-DDE95279C1E4 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr D902B3B2-C483-4DE1-9068-487A682DEE33 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 42874D6A-E95B-4B93-A125-4E6A524FDE0C by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 17CD01D0-71E7-4B2D-B6C3-14DFF24AD58B by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 22182608-E0CA-4DA3-91F6-6D9179905520 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr F47097B0-3C02-428D-BEFB-2E197ED4C5B9 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 21B52406-B7E4-4093-8A1C-4BC2E6108332 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 8A515F07-FC13-48C5-86D9-2CA21AF51665 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr EB5342FF-6AE6-4515-9AD6-FBC524A85718 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr CC63EF5F-F287-442C-8472-D30F0AA4A2DF by Preston Lalan, on Flickr
  17. Time for another update! So here’s what’s been accomplished so far... had to modify the driver’s seat as it was in too much of a reclined position and needed to be more upright. I then had to figure out how I was attaching the floor to the chassis, found some threaded bolt holes on the top of the chassis that worked out pretty sweet. Then I got some magnets installed on both seats and then installed magnets under the floor to attach the seats. Once I got that dialed in, I finally primed and painted the floor... After it dried, I started to lay down the carpet....not an easy task...but I think I did okay with it...:p. Lol. Then I had to figure out a way to mount the center console, I think I will still need to rework the arm-rest on the console as it looks to small, the 1:1 looks bulkier...lol.... Got the door cards assembled, then hit a major snag, the seats get hung up on the door handles and just won’t drop in to attach to the locating magnets... I tried various angles etc but no worky... So will probably rebuild the door cards with the standard trim that the Sandman came with. The trims that I did were for the premier editions.... 18. Did another test vid of the hood popper and the pulley system now that I have most of the engine detail sorted.... now I’m thinking maybe I should try to get some more video recording practice in ...lol! Apologies for the crappy video :puke:...but at least the mechanics are still working:nice:
  19. Managed to get some time yesterday and today to build the ignition coil. Usually it’s mounted on the back of the intake just behind the carby, but I don’t have enough space there for it so decided to go with it on the inner fender... this should be the last item for the engine bay for now, as I want to start on getting the interior installed... will come back to the engine bay later on to do the radiator over flow bottle, radiator hoses etc. Any who....here’s a few pics....watcha think? 20. I did manage to complete the air cleaner tonight. Took a little while to figure out how I wanted it, but I think it worked out pretty nice...:o tomorrow I will get the ignition coil done and then I may stop working on the engine bay and start focusing on getting the interior set up...it may take a day or two before I actually start putting it together as I will have to figure out how I’m attaching the flooring to the chassis and then the seats etc to the flooring..... so more to come soon! Any who, here’s a few pics of the air cleaner installed....watcha think? 6FCF7408-7F01-48D4-BA56-A70EE0681DCE by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 48203543-C7ED-4684-9827-8F495F82E74E by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 7DFA4F77-AFB0-47B7-95AC-57BBA258549A by Preston Lalan, on Flickr 92C248EB-5412-4C06-963A-DD9EFCCDA5D0 by Preston Lalan, on Flickr
  21. I had to notch both of the motor mounts so the exhaust manifolds clear them. Will try to take some pics of it in the morning when the light is better. The distributor turned out to be a bit too tall and was obstructing the cowl panel so I had to cut off about 3mms from the bottom of it (the distributor). Managed to get the firing order sorted on it however, lol (not in the first pic :o). Will have to fab up an old school ignition coil as well, got the wire for it laying on the intake. Still need to complete the air cleaner, will try to get that done tomorrow. Still have to make a few items for the engine bay, like radiator overflow bottle etc, but may do that later on. Will also try to make some headway on the interior for the next update...I hope! Lol...
