  1. Thanks cobraman..... been working on a new V8 for it...lol! Got the pulley system sorted out with bearings and a double pulley on the crankshaft, so now I'm working on getting a motorized alternator to spin the entire system....lol.... Then I'm gonna be building an old school clutch fan to bolt to the waterpump pulley...! Should have some pics later this week...!
  2. Hey guys...not much of an update.... :o Got the first mockups of the graphics on pics of the car...the blue looks awesome! Hoping to see soon what the orange combo and the purple combo will look like!
  3. lol..! Thanks again mustang! Yea...so many epic builds on these forums...so much to learn from and to drool over....lol...!
  4. Thanks guys ! seriously considering building a full size rear bumper for it...lol....as the front bumper took the chrome so well....! Next will try to get the upper tailgate painted and cleared,as well as the faux battery and radiator .....
  5. got some daylight pics....! [URL=http://s85.photobucket.com/user/Prestonlal/media/image_zpstdbrjtiv.jpeg.html]
  6. Hey guys, another small :update: Got the final coat of paint laid down then applied a few coats of clear..... The clear has a couple of runs in it, but the paint seems fine. I will have to let the clear cure for a another week or so before sanding and polishing out the runs... Gonna have to figure out how to tidy up the line between the black around the doors and the orange...it's not as neat as I hoped...also need to tidy up around the rear taillights.... The roof looks pretty decent though... Anywho some pics...will try to grab some more in the morning before I head out to work....Watcha think?
  7. Thanks John! The hood hinges are from a 1/18 diecast Olds 442 hood...lol! Couldn't find one closer to 1/10, but I managed to make this one work!
  8. Hey guys, the smell coming off the body is almost gone now, and I have read that that means it's mostly gassed off. So the paint I used is testors custom lacquer, which requires the clear coat over the color coat . When I lightly run my fingers along the sides of the body I can feel some roughness like tiny particles on the paint, and I'm guessing it's over spray, because like a noob, I painted the hood and the nose panel on the same table top where I had the body sitting after painting it, maybe 6-8 inches away from it. can I wet sand the body before applying the clear coat, or should I apply another color coat after sanding then clear coat? Also, what grit sandpaper should I be using to wet sand it with? I used 1500 then 2000 grit on the primer before applying the color. I have never used testors before , so any advice will be welcome!
  9. hey thanks cobraman!... Some daylight pics... Was a bit overcast this morning so not very bright light by the window so took it outside for a few pics...didn't get chance to inspect the paintwork cause I had to run off to work....lol Anywho...some more pics...
  10. Wooot! Got Mango? It woiked!!:excited: When it dries, I'll take off the tape...hopefully that worked as well .... Still need to do the upper tailgate, didn't get a chance to tape it off and lay down the black around the window... Will try to get that done tomorrow ... Will also get some daylight pics in the morning....will need to let the paint dry for a couple days then lay down some clear coat...tomorrow will have a look at it in proper light (it was late when I painted it ) to see if there are any issues like runs or orange peel... Anywho...some pics, Watcha think?
  11. So ...now that I got everything taped off and primed up...thought I'd pop open a can of paint and lay a mist coat down... Holy bejeesus..! This is a new sealed can... Well....gonna have to try it anyways....
  12. So .... did some digging on the interwebs...found a trick that some modelers use to help prevent bleed through...after applying the tape, mist on some clear coat to seal the edges, the apply the next color coat... So decided to try this....taped off the black, misted on some clear, then applied some white primer to cover up the black smudges....after it dried, did some wet sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper.....
  13. Also did the taillights....seems like I had better luck here....
  14. Hey guys, Got another small :update: ....kinda... Got the black painted on the door frames and the windscreen area...peeled off the tape after it dried and holy BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH....! Seems like my taping ain't so good....not sure what went wrong... Tried to clean it up some with some thinners and cue tips....
  15. Got some daylight pics....:D Will be doing some wet sanding tonight....
  16. Got another small :update: Laid down the chrome and buffed it a bit ...as well as I could anyway, considering how cramped it is to get the corners ...lol. Gonna have to do some tidying up along the edges where the black looks jagged, before taping off to lay down the body color...hoping that the engine will partially obscure it as well....lol.... Anywho...some pics....Watcha think? Will get some daylight pics tomorrow before I head out to work....
  17. Hey guys...another small :update: Go the body primed in white....taped it off and painted the master cylinder and blower thingy in black....will chrome the master cylinder but leave the vacuum booster in black....will also chrome the blower motor but leave the blower box in black... Hoping I can get this done tonight... the next time I will have to make these 'bolt ons' so it can be painted separately, so no need for all the taping etc....was a nightmare to get the black sprayed on.. Once I get this done and it dries out will, need to wet sand the white primer and then tape off the area around the door frame and get it painted black, as well as tape off the taillight area and lay down the chrome.... Then finally start laying down the orange... Anywho....some pics...
