Convertible kit will have revised fender skirts - future runs of coupe will also have the fix. However unfortunately the Tim Flock kit has the same body as the 53 coupe - without the corrected skirts. Dave

LoneStar Hood - correct fit.

To be honest, I was there to shoot pics of the LoneStar - only took a brief look at the COE That one looks pretty familiar... Dave -
LoneStar Hood - correct fit.

Actually the White truck was so new that it still had plastic covers on the seats. But it was at the test track, and it was one of the first six with the MaxxForce 15 installed so I'm sure it was not intended to go to a customer - also it had the Navistar IROS rear suspension (something else we wanted to photograph since the Blue truck was equipped with Hendrickson) We Photographed the Blue truck in early July of 2009 and the white truck in December of that same year.. Something else that I found interesting was that they had a new COE tractor sitting in the same garage bay as the white LoneStar, I asked if they were still building COE tractors and the answer was yes for the export market - they are still very popular in other parts of the world! All of the photos were shot at the Fort Wayne Indiana Engineering center as were a series of photos of a 125BBC ProStar. Dave -
I know just enough about these trucks to be dangerous. I do know that Navistar wants to sell Navistar power in their big trucks and was told that big engine in LoneStar would be MaxxForce 15 only that from a certain date the big Cummins would not be available. My memory is that LoneStar 2010 models would not offer Cummins power. I don't know if anything other than Navistar power is being offered on any of their neew over the road trucks now... Navistar has a different approach to emission control than the other manufacturers so it's not just a case of dropping a different engine in the truck - it's also a case of accomodating a different polution control system...this may be a big factor in Navistar wanting to sell their own power exclusively..

LoneStar Hood - correct fit.

I know just enough about driving a big truck to get in alot of trouble. We were able to do anything we wanted other than drive it with the Blue truck - that truck was a pre production item. The White truck was photographed in the maintenance building at Navistar's test track. that particular truck was one of the first six with MaxxForce 15 engines installed. We were there speciffically to shot photos of the engine installation in that truck - The blue truck had Cummins power.. Dave -
Great Dane is in tooling right now - I'm expecting first test shots around end of February ProStar exists only as 3D files @ this time -fortunately going from 3D files to tooling is not a long leap as tooling esentially is made from 3Ds I hope to see a Mock-up by end of February.. Maybe first test shots by late April... Dave

There seems to be some question regarding the way the hood of LoneStar fits. Since we were really up close and personal with a couple LoneStars I'm attaching some photos that I took while we were developing our kit. I won't promise that everyone who builds the kit will get the hood to fit exactly the way he likes but here are some pics of the real thing to judge by Dave

1/25 Moebius Tim Flock Hudson Hornet
Dave Metzner replied to MicroNitro's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Everything is approved for production but - it's Chinese New Year! So we have about 2 weeks of factory shut down for the CNY celebration. Best estimate is that C300 Street car kits should be on the water not later than 3/10 we're pushing for shipment before end of February! So if we can't get shipping in February the kit should be on store shelves by end of March at worst. The Tim Flock version will follow aboout 30 days later.. I have everything for it except an instruction sheet..and we're working on that now. Dave -
I think that the Transmission uses a Clutch to start from a stop - then it shifts automatically. I have pics of that truck with the "automatic" transmission - it DOES have a clutch pedal! Dave

Here are 31 photos of a Lonestar under construction - a few of these were used in the instruction sheet However only a few were used - These have part numbers and should provide answers if you have questions regarding the exact location of parts. This is one of several test shots that I built while we were developing the kit. We have changed the format of our instruction sheets since LoneStar was produced. I think that the instructions in the Hudson are an improvement over the LoneStar instructions. We are learning as we go - Suffice it to say that ProStar and Great Dane instructions will follow the format of the Hudson instructions not the format of LoneStar instructions. Click here to see the photos - http://dmetzner.smug...20951335_4dFdS9 feel free to save them if you find them useful Thanks, Dave

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
Dave Metzner replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
If you've got American Graphitti on a dvd or Blue Ray disc go take alook at it, in the scenes shot at Mel's Drive-In there's a 52 or 53 Hudson coupe parked just to the left of the door where the waitresses skate in and out...The car looks to be Black with a cream colored roof. Here are some frame grabs. Oh, and before I forget. Merry Christmas to all! Dave -
1/25 Moebius Tim Flock Hudson Hornet
Dave Metzner replied to MicroNitro's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
we designed a very nice sheet of instructions for the decal sheet in the Tim Flock Hudson There is only one small problem, which is that it never got printed or inserted in the kits. We discovered this within the last couple days! So -Here it is. click on the images to see a larger image You can click on this link to access and downlaod a printable version http://www.box.com/s/fo5y4ydkoreao86mcl37 . We are working on having them printed and will make them available if you want a printed copy... Thanks, Dave -
Great Dane Preview.
Dave Metzner replied to Dave Metzner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Front and back walls will be plated - pretty much like trailers seen in Great Dane's sales brochures... Dave -
Here are a few more shots - this is my build-up of a test shot - this 99.5% finished product - we went back and made the Chrysler and Chrysler 300 lettering on the body a bit more prominent as the test shot lettering almost dissapeared under a coat of paint - and we made a couple other minor tweaks - Paint is Testors Wimbeldon White lacquer.. Engine compartment is missing brake booster and master cylinder in the photo - I installed them after photo was taken - Decals are done, Instruction sheet is done - just waiting for the licensor to review them and let us know that we're good to go! Dave Metzner replied to Dave Metzner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wheels will be chrome plated - these are the same as the rear wheels of LoneStar. The roof is one piece, each side will be a single part, and the floor is also a single part.. Suspension is Hendrickson Air suspension - it is a slider - Dave -
Great Dane Preview.
Dave Metzner replied to Dave Metzner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wheels are 10 hole Alcoas like LoneStar, for now. Doors do not open - Interior has no detail This isn't a test shot - this is the tooling Mock-up - this is for us to see how everything looks before tooling starts - We'll fix a few details that aren't quite right and add a few that are missing based on this mock-up before we start tooling. Test shots come in a few months after tooliong is done - test shots are early shots from the tooling we use them to make sure everything fits together properly. Dave -
A little Black Friday treat from Moebius Models! Here are a few pictures of the Great Dane Trailer Tooling Mock-up... As you can see it looks alot like a 53 ft Reefer... There are a few details to be corrected and a few more to be added. Hope to have it on the way back to the factory by middle of next week... Thanks for looking. Dave
