  1. Had to see it one colour, got a bit more bodywork to do and I'll be looking for a permanent colour.
  2. Started on the flathead this weekend, got a little putty on the rough spots too.
  3. Thanks Nick, for colour I was thinking of something creamy and smoooooth. I got some more done this weekend. I decided to go with the stock grill but I modified it a bit, got the frenched headlights started and changed the peak on the hood. Rescribed the door lines and started doing the body work. Mounted the '59 Caddy taillights and recessed the license plate.
  4. This ones not quite done, I still have to finish the hatches and some other details. It's a Tamiya kit with aftermarket individual link tracks and a figure set. It's weathered with washes and ground pastel powders.
  5. Awesome Shermans G! I hear ya about the shiny stuff. Did it for over 20 years, competed for a while and found myself just building for the trophies. It didn't take long to get tired of that so I started building armour. I built when I was young but it got too expensive. I just started back into cars again after about a 6 year lapse. Now I have to learn all over again. But I figure that's 1/2 the fun.
  6. Played a bit with my '48 today. Taped the frame and suspension together, I get a nose bleed just looking at this. That's a bit better.
  7. Sweet looking El Caminos. Here's mine. '59 '68 And something I've been playing around with for a while.
  8. Paul that's going to be a cool rod. Dick, yours is radical but I think you should think about a new neighborhood or locking up the cat at night. Busy weekend for me but I got the rad cut and mounted lower and found a better set of wheels.
  9. Awesome work on that engine so far Mark!! I got some skirts made for mine, couldn't find any I liked so I whittled them out of some sheet plastic. I debated on fender extensions for this build then I saw the new '48 Ford coupe had them in the box. When I got a closer look though I didn't like them at all. I didn't think they should blend flush with the rear fenders so I pulled the Evergreen plastic out again and made my own.
  10. When I was chopping the top it occured to me that it'd be hard to see traffic lights driving this thing, so I cut out the insert in the roof and I'm going to install a green tinted window.
  11. I saw pictures of a deuce 5 window like this years ago and it got stuck in my head. Dark metallic green and lots of chrome.
  12. Curtis - The figures were awesome. They were clean and the details were sharp, all I did was a base coat, a couple of washes and some details. Wayne - Working with sillyputty is great. Rip off a piece, roll it on your table till it looks like spaghetti, and lay it on the model. If you want, use a spoon or something and squash it into whatever shape you want. It comes off easy, leaves no residue and if you use acrylic paint it's reusable. Here's another I used it on. Did the brown first, masked it, did the green, then when I masked it I squashed the first masking putty over on the edges and sprayed the yellow. Probably not realistic but interesting.
  13. Looking real nice Nick!! Got a bit more done on mine. I had to rebuild the bumper aprons, they were cut off and filled but I think that was going to make it's butt look too big. The bumpers will help the car look a little longer and lower. I also cut a little slit in the hood sides to help blend the body contour on the doors.
  14. Looks cool Cole, nice work so far. Didn't get much done on mine, got the rear wheelwells in. Thought I'd mock up the suspension to see what this bad boy's gonna look like. I tacked the Hemi from the kit together just to see but I think I'm still doing the flatty. I think I'm going to look for different wheels, these ones are a bit too wide.
  15. Cole, that flatty looks great!! Did some more last night. I got the trim replaced and the interior roughed together to get the channel the right height. Still got a lot to do. I think I'm gonna go with flathead power, there's a real nice one in my '48.
  16. I was recovering from surgery over the summer and to keep my sanity I decided to dig into this one. What a great kit! Practically built itself. Painted with Tamiya and masked the camo with sillyputty.
  17. My daughter works here so I'm a bit biased but check them out. http://www.alphaabrasives.com/index.php
  18. I got a lot of work done the last couple of nights. Attached the roof, decided to make it a hardtop and sanded it smooth. I made the corners more rounded and blended it with the body. I opened the side windows to loose some of the blind spot but I'm saving the mail slot back window. Fixed the windshield and removed the side chrome.
  19. I got some bodywork done on the deuce, long way to go tho. I've got a lot of plans for this one, but I still haven't decided on a motor yet. I started on the next step, sectioning and channeling. I found a while ago the best way to section was to shave some off the bottom, raise the wheelwells and replace the mouldings around the edges with evergreen 1/2 round plastic.
  20. Now that's a chop! Looks really good so far!
  21. I was going to use a resin body I got from Perry's resin but I'm planning a bit more than just a chopped top. The cuts are measured time to make some dust.
  22. Alrighty then, I dug out this old pro modeler '48 Ford. I bought it with the bodywork already started but being the way I am, I just can't leave well enough alone. There's a lot of little things that need to be corrected but I've got an idea where I'm going.
  23. Count me in!! I've got a 5 window deuce coupe I'd like to tear into.
