  1. I have been spraying my models outside in a homemade type enclosure. With the weather being very unstable with rain and wind, I am wanting to use a booth indoors. I use cans and airbrush but the airbrush isn't good outdoors for me. I am looking at the spray booths on Ebay that are reasonable in price and was wondering how good they work. I noticed they have a computer fan for the exhaust and I could rig mine up with one since I all ready have one. I spray mostly lacquer ( dupli color) in the cans and I decant for the airbrush. Would I have to change over to acrylic paint if I bought the cheap booth. I don't look forward to an explosion if this is not the one to go with. Any advise would be appreciated on this. Thanks Richard
  2. Back in the 80's I had a 50 Ford pickup. It had a flat head in it and when winter time came, I had not checked the anti freeze in it. Well after a hard freeze one night, it developed a crack in the block. Parked it for a while after that. I liked the truck a lot but couldn't afford a new motor. A neighbor across the street worked at the local Chevy dealership and he had a garage behind his house that he worked on his drag car and other things. He told me one day that he had just taken a 262 and transmission out of a car that the owner wanted a bigger motor in his. He offered to put it in my truck. He said they only made this motor a couple of years and didn't know how much trouble it would be but I told him to help me push the truck over and he could do it. I didn't check with him for a good week and low and behold, he drove it back in my driveway. It was an automatic trans. and from what he told me, it bolted straight up including the driveshaft. He said all he had to do was make a small adapter for the transmission to the frame and everything went right together. I couldn't believe it. From what he kept telling me, the truck was made for a Chevy motor more than the Ford flathead. I had to make a gear shift extender for the floor board shift and this thing sure put some rubber down on the road. The rearend was a good match and it didn't over rev. or bog down when driving. I finally traded it to a friend for a Corvair Monza. Wish I still had both of these autos. Richard
  3. Thanks Greg, Lots of help. I hadn't gone far enough into these sites before. Appreciate the help. Richard
  4. Is there a website that I can see what is in production from the model makers? I haven't been back into this hobby very long and was wondering if I could find out what is being produced and possibly is out of production. I have some old NASCAR models that was given to me in the 80's ( still in the wrap) and don't want to start them. I am not into NASCAR but I would like to start buying some kits that are not over priced due to availability I've tried to google websites but can't find anything on production status. I have started a Lindberg 66 Chevelle I bought a good while back and its going together pretty good. Thanks for any info I can get. Richard
  5. All these young-uns here. Makes me feel old and I guess I am old. Born in 1944. Richard
  6. I don't have a laser jet printer but I have a very good Epson Inkjet printer. I use the Papilio Mark II inkjet clear water slide decal paper and it works great with the inkjet ink. I wait a good while and then spray the decals with a clear spray and then let that dry. Works great for the decals I want to copy. I used to race the dirt oval r/c cars and they worked great on them. Now I am just getting into 1/25 models and using them on some Nascar cars still in the box from the 80's. Their website is papilio.com to order or more info. Richard
  7. Looking good so far. I have the same one on the bench I started a week ago. Mine sure won't be up to the build you are doing but it is a good starter to get my skills back in shape from being out of the hobby for a few years. The only problem I have had so far is the front windshield doesn't fit. It is too narrow from top to bottom. Don't know what I am going to have to do to fix this but I'll try something. Keep this one going. Richard
