  1. That 55 Chevy in the background looks very good also.
  2. I haven't tried the glass beads but might look into it. I use a very small diode. The paint for identification on them can be taken off and some are clear and some are kinda orange inside. I like the orange ones since it looks like gas in it. Richard
  3. No snow but a little sleet and rain. Since I retired, I'm also glad I don't have to drive in the bad weather to get to work. Now, I only have to worry about the doctor appointments and drug store. Can't forget Walmart also. Richard
  4. Thanks Matt It might be called that ( paper tape). It does have a smooth fibre texture to it. I also have some brown color tape that I know is called paper tape. I think the only thing I worry about is how long it will stay stuck without coming loose. Maybe if paint would be applied to it after stuck, it might bond to the primer and stay. I only used a silver and black sharpie. Time will tell. I did like the way it gave a fabric look to the seat, doors and floorboard. I think it would look great on some of the old cars that had the fabric seats. Richard
  5. I'll pull my rocking chair up and follow your build. I like your builds and I also like the 50's since that was my best fun time with 1:1 cars. Richard
  6. I am going to try the headliner on a scrapped body I have laying around. I hope my hands and eyes are steady for this. I might make a template out of card stock and get the shape right and then tape it. Thanks for the good remarks. I have messed with models just a little over the years and it's been at least 20 since I have actually started and finished one. I have quite a few old kits I bought years ago but never built. Richard
  7. Thanks Jim It is a tape I had to use for a bandage a few years back and was what I had on hand. It is real thin and doesn't seem to have a pattern to the surface. It went on and stuck real good. Trimmed with a x-acto knife. I tried it on a piece of plastic before I stuck it on the interior. I have a silver sharpie and after sticking it on, I just added the sharpie to it. I used a toothpick to work the seams in the seat and sides. The floorboard is the same with black sharpie. This brand is Kendall Tenderskin. I'm sure this or similar is at a drug store or wal-mart. Richard
  8. I thought I would try something I read on here to give the interior a fabric look. I had some medical tape from years back and taped it to the seat and doors to give it a little better look than just painting it. I taped and trimmed then used a Sharpie to add the silver color. I also used it on the floor board to simulate a low profile carpet. Made it look a lot better than just paint. I am just a beginner on models and I think I made it look a little better. Richard
  9. This is a couple of photos of the dehydrator I made from one a friend gave me. It only had 2 trays and had no height to it. I took some lexan and made it high enough to hold a lot of parts. I had to seperate the fan and heat so I could adjust the heat. I ran another cord and seperated the fan and heat circuit. I took a receptacle and took the tab off the hot side to seperate the two plug ins. Took a dimmer and ran it to one plug and left the fan hot all the time. I ran the fan through the front switch on the unit so I could just use air and use the dimmer switch to control the heat. Not very pretty but it works great. Richard
  10. I got my first Master airbrush spray booth. Not bad for what I paid for it. Now I don't have to go outside in the cold to paint.
  11. I have the same question as Ryan^^ I have a lot of acrylic paint from my r/c racing days and would like to use it up before spending a lot of $$$$$$ for lacquer or enamel paint. I do have an old bottle of Future that I never used on my floors and hope to use it up. Any help for both of us would be appreciated. Thanks Richard
  12. Thanks Gary I'll probably do something about the same. I don't have anything to vac-form with. I'm not experienced enough about different mfgs. and kits to tell if something is exact or not. If it's not right in the kit, then it probably won't get changed to make it the right shape or size. Thanks Richard
  13. I wonder why they didn't make a trim piece that the windshield would sit in? This is the way it should look. Thanks Bill
  14. I like the looks of the Fiskars. It looks like it would be comfortable to use. Richard
  15. Hey Roger Thanks for the info. My first idea was to do that but I don't have any styrene on hand. Looks like I need to start ordering some things to build up my inventory of repair parts and pieces. The heat shrink tubing is working pretty good but not what I want it to look like. Thanks for the reply. Richard
  16. Thanks Carl, I emailed round 2 and they said they didn't have anything to replace it. I have been playing with some small heat shrink tubing this morning and it might work as a rubber gasket around the glass. So far it looks pretty good. I'll post something as soon as I can get it to work. Thanks Richard
  17. I am working on a '57 Chevy stepside that I finally got a good smooth primer on and I started to dry fit the parts together to see how it would look and found that the front windshield doesn't fit. It is too small front top to bottom and from side to side is not good either. I need some ideas on how to fix this problem. Should I cut the top roof off and try to lower it a little or just leave the glass out. I would like to finish this one but I don't know how to fix this problem. NEED SOME HELP on this Thanks for any ideas I get. Richard
  18. Thanks all for the info. I'll open them up and see what I might could use from them. Looks like I all most started another war. That was not my intention at all. Maybe I'll start a build post on what I am doing with them. I used to be a Chevy man, now I drive a Ford and I drag raced a Plymouth Duster when I was younger. I have 4 street kits started and I'm still trying to get the primer to turn out good on them. Think I'll concentrate on improving my painting for now and work on parts swapping later when I'm better at it. Thanks Richard
  19. Thanks Fred I guessed someone had used one for something. Nice builds you have. I think I'll peek into one of the boxes I have and see what I can do with it. I was given a few in the 80's and since they are older models, I might come up with something different. Thanks Richard
  20. Thanks Oscar and Harry. I kinda thought that anything much couldn't be used on street cars but thought I would ask anyway. I am not experienced enough to do any heavy modding but I have to start somewhere and with something. Thanks Richard
  21. From what I have seen, Nascar kits are pretty inexpensive. I am not a Nascar fan ( I do own a few kits) but was wondering if there are really any parts like tires, engine, drivetrain and such that can be used on any other kits? So far I haven't mixed anything from them but was just wondering if anyone uses these Nascar kits for parts or such. It looks like it would be a good way to get parts and pieces for a mod build if they could be used for that. So far, I haven't built anything but box stock but would like to get a little more involved in modifying something other than straight out of the box. Thanks Richard
  22. Sure looks good to me. Fine job. Keep on keeping on with the builds. Richard
  23. Thanks Joe I had looked at that one and I think the squirrel cage fan will be the way to go for me. I've never used acrylic paint and have seen a lot of it being sold now for models. I guess I need to try some and see how good it might be to change over to it. Thanks Richard
  24. Thanks Tom Mine is a lot like yours except I made mine out of the plastic sheets that look like cardboard. I am thinking on the line of finding a motor and fan that are seperate from each other. I sure don't want something to explode. Been there and done that with some leaves I was trying to burn and used some coleman lantern fluid to start it. I waited a few minutes before throwing a lighted paper towel on them and after the explosion, I had no eyebrows and arm hair. Thanks Richard
