  1. Thanks Ricky and Daniel. Didn't expect a fast response. I have a bunch of scale/rulers that I'll have to dig out of the closet and see what I have on hand. If I don't have anything that will work, I'll order the one ya'll listed. I guess the best way is take a kit and use the parts to copy with metal. Thanks. This inspires me to give this a go and see what I can make or mess up.
  2. I'm terrible at trying to scale a model. I would have to have a template or drawing to make a frame or parts. I have all the tools to make something out of metal but wouldn't attempt it unless I would have something to go by for scaling it. Would buying a kit and using the parts to scale and build from or is there a website to get the scale and details from?? How do all that welds or solder builds go about this?? Thanks in advance for any help on this.
  3. OH, Ok. I thought ya'll was talking about a siphon feed bottle caps for 1/2 oz. bottles. Thanks
  4. Hey Snake. Is the tube on top of the caps the 30 or 60 degrees? I'm using the paasche H's and VL's for my model spraying. All the other airbrushes I have are gravity feed. I would like to find some that size for suction feed. Thanks
  5. Sounds good. Hope to see some pictures later when you make some. I've been playing with the paasche H's for a few days now. I'm not used to them since I've used 2 stage systems for so long. I have 3 H+S Infinitys and 3 Badgers that I have been using for pictures. I'll probably change back to them when I get some testing finished. Man, time flies when we are having fun, doesn't it.
  6. I am also a HAM. I mostly do CW but have done my share of digital. It has gotten so boring ( for me ). Most have gone to digital FT8 and the computer does all the work for you. All you have to do is pick the one you want to try and get the contact with. Then the computer will keep trying until the other end acknowledges, then the computer will send a pre programmed short message that you got it and then it will log it. All you have to do is sit and look at the screen for hours if that is what you enjoy doing. Fast way of getting wallpaper of was, wac or what ever certificate you want to hang on the wall. Very boring. I am not a paper chaser so ham radio is just about gone for me. I do like to sit and chat a little and get to faintly know the other ends lifestyle. PSK31 used to be the mode I used because you could chat a little and just enjoy meeting and typing about things. Now it is hard to find anyone doing this mode. FT8 is all over facebook. Thats the only way you'll get to know the other ends lifestyle.
  7. Yep, I'll give them a shot of clear. I have some satin and gloss clear including some old Future. Primer looks good on what I sprayed today. I'll wait until tomorrow to mess with them. Right now I am working on 2 "55 Chevrolets. One is hard top and the other is convertible. The hard top is a rework that I started a few years back and didn't like the paint scheme for it. I have to dip the interior in a paint removal tub and let it soak for a while. Are you working on anything??? I actually like trucks more than cars since that is what I've owned for years and years. Just a plain old REDNECK, I guess. HA HA
  8. Well I did the scratch thing with my finger nail and it didn't scratch or come off. This was on straight plastic spoons. The only thing I can see wrong with using Golden is the colors. They are not bold. Kinda dull and muted or flat. A clear overcoat would make it shine good. As far as the primer goes, it does just fine with what I have used. I haven't tried Stynylrez yet but give me time, I'll spend some money and probably get some. I kinda played with airbrushes today after priming a kit I had started back a few years ago. I have so many airbrushes, it is fun just to spray with them and see how they do with different paints. It's been a few years since I've played with models and I'd forgotten how much fun it is to just sit and mess with them. Bunch of kits in the closet that need building so I have a long time to get low on anything except paint. Luckily I have close to me a very good hobby model shop. Southern Motor Sports is the name and he carries about everything for models anyone would want. I am 74 years old so all I have to do all day is mess with hobbies. Or just watch grass grow. HA HA HA
  9. I sprayed some Golden HF this morning and it stuck very good. I am going to let it dry overnight and see if it scratches with my finger nail. I also sprayed some Golden fluid paint ( after thinning ) and will check the same thing in the morning. I have big bottles of vallejo surface primer in grey, black and white that I use to prime the models. If it is primed then about any kind will stick to the primer. I also have some Atelier satin and gloss varnish that I have never used so it will be a test of sorts.
  10. I think it might work OK. I found some spoons I had tested with various paints I have on hand. These were a few years back. Just getting back into building and I have a lot of paints leftover that I used to paint pictures on paper with. All are acrylics. Createx, EFX-Etac and golden high flow. I know the Golden was the one I used the most of. I had to do some airbrush cleaning that was more extensive to clean than the others with Golden. It would stick better to the cups on the brushes. I'll let you know how it goes. I am not sure if the colors would be what I would want but I am not fussy about being exact for a model/year. I just try to paint what might look good for the model. I have models that I painted with the el-cheapo walmart acrylics that still look very good. I have a bottle of the old Future clear coat that I have used for years that I sprayed on them and they still shine like new. Thanks a lot.
  11. Thanks Joe. I forgot about that on the website. I'll give some spoons a good coat and let it dry and see how it goes. THANKS
  12. I used to paint pictures on paper and have a lot of Golden High Flow acrylics left over. Before I start testing if it will stick to model cars I was just wondering if anyone has used or do use this paint for your models. Pros and cons would be appreciated if you have used it. I would be airbrushing these if they will work. Thanks for any help in advance on this.
  13. Back in my younger days and lived in Charlotte, NC, I had a newspaper route and I delivered Buck Bakers paper every morning. Being young and not familiar with auto racing ( i might say that a bicycle was my racing thing ), I knew he was famous for racing cars but didn't know that much about it. When it came time for me to collect for the paper which was once a month, I had to keep going back to his house until I caught him at home. That's about all I remember of him until I was older and kinda followed car racing.
  14. I could be called a airbrush hoarder. If the urge hits-----LOOK OUT----- New airbrush coming. I like the old saying " The one with the most is the winner". I think I'm too critical of my projects. I can be painting a model and thinking, this is not looking good, but then looking at some on the shelfs, I think they look pretty good. Richard
  15. Well I used to use them for pictures I airbrushed over the years along with model cars I have built. It's just an accumalation of them over the years. I don't do pictures anymore since my hands and eyes aren't that good anymore. I guess I just like using them and enjoy trying different ones now. Most except the paasche's are fine and ultra fine for the details I could get with them. Totally cars now and the Iwatas and badgers are pretty much useless with the cheap acrylic paint I am using for the cars. Probably would call me a sucker for having so many but have just decided to use only the paasches now for cars. There's no need to do fine detail in what I build anymore and don't want to get rid of any in case I want to do a picture. Each brand has their own little quirks and ways of using them. Also have a lot of illustration paint that I might try on the cars. The Iwatas are the best and then the Badger Kromes are second for detail work which I don't need for cars. Hope this might explain why. Richard
  16. I have 5 paasche H's, 2- paasche VL's, 2- Badger Kromes, 2- Iwata's- HP-SB plus and Neo CN. I use the H's for most of my model cars and I wanted to get some new parts for them. I searched the internet and found that I could get the whole set with 3 tips and needles , that I wanted to replace, by using Amazon. New airbrush, 3 needles, airhose and other parts that are included a lot cheaper than ordering just parts for the ones I have. Now if I could only get a good paint job that pleases me would be great. Richard
  17. There was something on TV the other day about Junior but I missed it. I think the intro was about his moonshine hauling days. Richard
  18. I've had the masking one for a good year and really don' t like it. My hands are not that steady and precise anymore so I usually make a big mess when trying to use it.
  19. Very good car and paint. I liked Darell because he didn't take any bull from the other drivers. BUGGETY BUGGETY BUGGETY------- Let's go racing boys. I liked his announcing with that at the start of the race. Richard
  20. I think I got close to the box color for the green. I am going to reshoot the green and make it a little lighter though.
  21. Reading this post of the forum brought back a memory that I remember very well. I was working out of town and was on my way back home from a long day at work. The road was a 4 lane with 2 lanes each way. Came upon a car that was in the passing or fast lane as they call it. He was going 15 mph below the speed limit and what shocked me was he was reading a newpaper covered over the steering wheel and every now and then he would look up to make sure he was still in the lane. Every attemp to make him move over or put the paper down was useless. Finally had to move over to the right lane and pass. Idiot no doubt.
  22. Excellent work on this car. It's kinda strange that I was thinking about Bobby Allison this morning and his car shows up here today. I have Davey Allison's #28 on the shelf but don't want to build it quite yet. That was a tragic accident in the helicopter. I remember watching Nascar at that time when it happened. I'm actually a Dale Earnhardt and Jr. fan. I was watching the race when Dale died. Like to have fell in the floor when they announced his death. Richard
  23. I am a sucker for VW's. This was what I bought from Southern Motorsports Hobbies yesterday. I have owned quite a few VW's in my lifetime. They are fun to drive and work on. Richard
  24. Well so far I have primed everything and now time to start getting the colors mixed right. Looks like some spoon time will be done today. I like the way this build is coming along. I can tell there is a difference between USA and CHINA styrene. Just a photo of the start of the Quaker State #26.
