Why Can't I build box stock?
LDO replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hope my girfriend isn't reading this. -
This is a project I'm working on for someone else. A light sanding and I'll be ready to send it off. I was asked to build the body only, but I made frame rails also. I felt like it would help keep both sides symmetrical, especially at the rear where the frame kicks up. It's wood, which I've never worked in. It has been a real challenge Here's a photo of the real car. I built the model off old line drawings and b/w photos. This photo shows me that I need to recontour the top of the hood. The model's hood is too flat. It also looks like the frame rails need some tweaking at the front. I should be able to fix it over the weekend. I'd like to say Hello to the guy stalking me across the internet. How ya doin'?

I don't know what you've got, but I have the same thing. I decided to quit detailing/converting/customizing and start finishing. That lasted 3 models. I'm back to my old ways of chopping up perfectly good kits. I just ordered a Heller Citroen 15CV because the rear of the body resembles a Delage town car. Heller's Delahaye can give up its front fenders to use as rears. I'm not sure where I'll get front fenders. -
Don't forget Revell/Monogram funny car front tires.

Just click on the "Img" button under the subject line. It will give you what you need for codes, just insert your URL.

I'd love to get a few small pieces made for this car: It's 2 panels in front of the rear wheel; the one with a hole for air exiting the radiator duct. The other would be a panel with an etched line to be folded, for the sharp-edged slot at an angle. I would just rout down into the thick body to sink them down flush. The upper parts would be similar to what's in this photo:

No. Prep work is not important. Just lay on more color. What? Somebody had to say it. Just kidding, of course.

JO-HAN Cadillac Ambulance?

The have to issue a subpeona for each individual seller's records. It's only the sellers they're concerned with. Besides, did you really think the tax-free world of mail order would last forever in this new electronic age? Either buy it on ebay or rack up a huge long distance bill calling every hobby shop you can find. There's always the Scale Auto Classified section...if you don't mind waiting 3 or 4 months from now. -
The government computer that I'm using now has fotki blocked, so I can't upload photos. I was going to ask if I could e-mail a photo to a board member so they could post. I can't log into my e-mail now, either. I just wrote a description of the work I did, but deleted it because I think it's pointless and confusing without photos. I did some work on the rear end and deleted the exhaust holes in the r/f fender. Man I can't wait to get back to my computer.

NICE. Finish that bad boy!

Not at all. I'm going to get one of ModelMartin's '32 Ford funny car bodies and put a Duesenberg grille on it. I may try to extend the front fenders back a bit. I was thinking of custom decals for it. Something like "Judkins Fiberglass". Thank you!

[Vinnie Barbarino voice ON] I'm so confused![Vinnie Barbarino voice OFF] I bought a a builtup Bora on ebay a while back. It showed up and appears to be 1/28. It's a motorized kit. I believe it was made by Edai (it's at my house, 200 miles away). I really want 1/24 or 1/25. I saw a Crown kit, but the box art is a painting. I don't like gambling. There's a Bora on ebay right now made by MPC. The pics appear to be a different molding than Edai. Is it? The front bumpers and louvers/vents at the rear appear different.

Nice work, Jared. Pre-'67 Bug with 911 alloys. Great combo. Man, you're gonna convince me to get rid of one of my real Mustangs and get an oval-window Bug.

"Holy Grail" Models?
LDO replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ken- I have an AMT '28 Tudor Sedan. It's MIB or nearly MIB. I got it from a guy at HHMB. I asked a question about it & one response was that they're out there "if you know where to look". Well gee, I e-mailed the guy and sure enough..... So hey- go to HHMB and ask about it. He had several at teh time. It won't be 15 bucks, though. Mine was $65. -
Thanks for the compliments, guys. Andy- that car looks great in black. I have a nearly box-stock Murphy Town car in black with yellow reveals. It just needs a few more parts added to be finished. It's back home though so I can't get a pic for a while. It looks nice though in Tamiya lacquers. Tamiya's tape leaves a really clean edge for two-tone paint. Later, Lee
