I suspect it's rather like two part silicone putty, in that it doesn't quite pick up all the details the way poured silicone molds will.

I came across this website a while back and they have some good prices. Anyone order from them? I'm hesitant to order without a recommendation. https://www.1999.co.jp

I’ve never done a group build before. Will there be rules ? Or just whatever fits in the theme.
There will be rules depending on the theme, the main thing is to have fun and stretch your imagination. Going by your screen name, you might look for something like one of these?

It's fun to dive in with an old kit or just parts and make something!

Another vote for Duplicolor. I use their sandable primers exclusively. They come in white, grey, red and hot rod black which is a really dark grey. I've never had a problem with it under any kind of paint. It does build up and can be grainy, so you need to wet sand it with really fine sandpapers, but it gives an excellent surface.

The Ranchero idea is probably the easiest, but I hate to waste a body! LOL I bought an 84 Camaro promo one time and the guy threw in a second for nothing because it had similar damage to your Falcon. I bought some two part silicone mold putty from Hobby Lobby and made a press mold from the good kit, then used some casting resin also from HL and a little piece of fiberglass to make a replacement part. I stuck it together with super glue and kicker and a piece of wire to add extra strength.

Proving I learned nothing from my Italeri experience, I just bought their Fiat 131 rally kit and their Lancia Delta Integrale kit. I also have two of their Gelandewagen kits. Here's hoping all those are better!

My load from a trip to Dallas and a visit to Wild Bill's Hobbytown in Arlington and in Dallas. They are gradually selling off all the old Wild Bill's stock, but someone told me they are now buying up collections to add to the stores. I guess I was in an Italian mood! Also bought some Plastruct and some Gundam decals to add to the collection.

Technically I won't have this one until the 25th, but I got a sneaky glimpse when it arrived at work today before being whisked away when I got home....
I have a couple of examples of Tamiya's T-top version (original plus recent reissue), but I was lucky to successfully bid on this fixed-head model. Came with the motor and a separate sheet translating the instructions into French.
Do you know how this kit compares to the old AMT 280ZX? I have one of those somewhere and didn't know Tamiya made one as well.

I’d love to see Round 2 pick a year, and clone some of the missing Craftsman kits from that year. Say for 1964, they could do the Plymouth Barracuda and Valiant to go with the ones still around like the Comet Caliente and the Galaxy. Maybe they could restore or clone all the ones they turned into stock cars too?

This is a conversation to have to have. Do we want Radwood, cars 80 to 99 with period appropriate mods or "The 80s", which would include all of the Radwood stuff but also prostreet and the beginnings of the billet hotrod scene and other period styling.
This was my initial suggestion and I don't want to impose. I'm open to whatever topic we choose. I thought Radwood might be a good one because the topic can be so broad. It could cover vehicles from around 80 to 99 as pointed out, and the competitor could use all sorts of customizing. Maybe allow for a modern chassis or drivetrain? Any of the period fads, such as ProStreet, Billet, or ProTouring or whatever would be cool. I loved hot hatches at the time and had a couple so maybe you could go with a Japanese or Euro tuning theme as well. For a while there was a Scirroco(?) that had two engines, one in the front and one in the rear. I even had a friend in the 90s who took advantage of Texas' lax inspection and titling to get tags and title on his dad's old Street Stock circle track car. It was beat up, so he put the body from a wrecked Thunderbird LX. It was the closest thing to a street legal NASCAR we'd ever seen. Not sure what you'd call it, but it was rad!

It would be nice to see AMT do a 60-63 Falcon two door and wagon based on their Ranchero. Since Revell did a nice 66 Chevelle wagon, maybe they could do a stock hood and all the parts to build a replica stock wagon. The Monogram 40 Ford pickup would be cool with the parts to build a stock truck.

Hey Gary, how'd you get it to sit so high?
The original plan was to use the chassis and suspension from a Fujimi parts kit and extend everything, but I got lazy. Since it was originally a curbside, I cheated. I was going to use skid plates anyway, so I just relocated the axles to the other side of the chassis plate and the skid plates covered them.

Another idea could be a 'RadWood' Cannonball, since that stuff is in style now. You know, cars and trucks from the 80s and 90s. Picture early tuner cars, Koenig Ferraris, RUF Porsches, Saleen Mustangs, you could even Miami Vice style cars. Or how about those hot hatches like the Golf GTI or Escort GT, or those custom mini-trucks? Maybe an 80s-90s car with modern running gear?

Ten years ago, I wanted to build the Cannonball Countach, and found a kit at a hobby show. I soon discovered the MPC kit was a bit of a dog. I ended up getting this Italeri kit as well, and it wasn't much better. It got started several times, but the parts fit was less than stellar and frustration took hold. The whole mess got put away until the other day when I came across it again. I had stuffed it and the MPC kit in the same box and tossed them in another bigger box. Somehow, the body of the MPC kit disappeared.
Since the next Cannonball Community Build is around the corner, I decided to 'finish' Countach today.
So here it is, my Italeri Countach, warts and all. It was not an easy task as the kit put up a struggle. The car is a definite 20 footer, but it'll do. It's mostly Italeri with some MPC parts and some parts box driving lights and antennas. The exhaust pipes are pieces of aluminum tubing.

Another welcome from Central Texas! As for back issues, I'd go to the Contact Us page from the Home page and ask. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/oops/contact-us/ I know they used to sell back issues, but it's been a while since I ordered any.

I just completed my first Porsche Safari and want to start another with a bit less height. The tires I used on this one came from an old 90s AMT Ranger and for my next build I need some 15 inch off road tires with not quite as much tire height. Are there any kits that have such a thing?
This was my first build and I think they are around a 30-32 inch tire?

Back in the dinosaur days, KayBee Toys had a clearance on the original issue of this kit and its Cougar variant. I bought a bunch of them at $1.99 each and had fun with them. Maybe it's about time for Revell to reissue these kits and some of their other early 90s kits.

Apparently Safari Porsches are a big thing nowadays. I've found 911s, 924s, and 944s are all being jacked up and used off road. As are a lot of other cars that you wouldn't expect to see in the boonies. A guy here in town has a beater Kia with what look like Wrangler wheels and tires on it. No idea how he got them to fit but it rides several inches higher than usual.
I've got another 911 and a 924 that are waiting for the treatment. Right now, the hardest part is finding more 15 inch off road tires that aren't too big for the cars and more offroad lights.
Options on what the 1970 Galaxie Taxi kit can be.

You can build it as an Uncle Carl car, the kind of beater your old uncle might drive around town. Fill it with a fishing pole, tackle box and some beer in a cooler, lots of fast food bags and bang up the exterior a little and call it good.
