  1. Now this is definitely worth watching! I will be following closely and often.........! Tony
  2. What story? Man, I must be getting old...........
  3. You're right Mike. I've opened this thread so often, I'd forgotten what the title was! The question then becomes........ what did Bradley have in mind when he started this thread? Was his title simply a slip of the pen (keyboard) or did he really mean that all Fox based chassis cars could be included? Bradley.....? Tony
  4. In my opinion, this thread should remain '79 to '93 Fox Bodied Mustangs only. The '79 to '93 Mustang body styles are an era unto themselves. I was never 100% convinced that the T-Birds, Futuras, Lincolns, etc. should have been here although I recognize the Fox heritage and the models themselves were truly inspiring. In addition, but only a minor reason, it's already 31 pages long and growing..... newcomers to the thread would have to spend hours just catching up. If we add the '94 plus cars... who knows how many pages there'll be? There's no problem to start a new CBP for SN 95's, etc., so why have them here? Don't get me wrong......., I own a '99 and love all Mustangs (even the '74 to '78's !), so no predudice against them. The pictures of these cars posted here already truly show that a new CBP build should be opened for them. I, for one, would love to follow it and possibly contribute. Tony
  5. A while back I built (but never completely finished) a 1/32 scale early 1900's dio to photograph the brass era cars. It was basically a Blacksmith shop converted to an early repair garage with an attached store. As the 1930's and later cars and trucks look a little out of place on it, I thought I should do something similar for later years. In fact, something that could even be appropriate in today's world as a leftover from a previous era, but still functioning. So....... here we go....... I started by cutting the front walls out of foamboard using my architect's scale of 3/8" = 1'-0" (1/32 scale). I made the basic building walls a scale 8'-0" high, the garage section 22' wide and the storefont 20' wide. The garage wall was raised by 3' to allow for a rough stone base. The garage doors then became 8' wide x 10' high. Next I added coffee stir stick siding to the garage section..... and Evergreen horizontal siding to the storefront. I then built a porch roof and glued it to the top of the storefront wall. The picture is just a quick mockup with a diecast truck to get an idea of the effect. I still have to add the porch supports, door and windows, etc. and paint, but it's coming along.
  6. Although I'm not American, this is a wonderful tribute to the horrific events that shook the whole world. I still feel the emotion as I watched those two towers fall. I hope we never see such a monstrous example of idealistic terrorism again.....
  7. Nice work as always. People almost look real. Tony
  8. Grey sandpaper is the easy way to go for me. Here's a couple of examples: 180 grit (no weathering done on this one 80 grit (lightly weathered) It's so simple to apply. I use LePage's carpenter's glue spread thinly on the base and then use some telephone directories to hold it in place for a few hours until it dries. You can stain or weather it to suit your needs with thinned out acrylic washes, sand the surface in the direction of travel for a worn look, or add tire tracks in heavy travelled sections.... whatever you dream up!
  9. I've been away from this CBP for a while completing a whole bunch of vintage 1/32 scale kits...Duesies, Packards, Model T's and the like....... and getting some of the 1:1 jobs done around the house and on the real Foxes (the cars, I mean!). But I'm coming back soon with a couple of new Fox builds when I clear my bench and get my "to do" list finished! This is just to let you guys know that I'm really impressed with the additional builds that have shown up in the last month or two and the interest that this thread is generating. Tony (the other one).
  10. Hey Tony....... it turned out really great. Got "stealth" written all over it! I like!!!!! Tony
  11. OK Nick..... I'm going to guess that you're going to put the engine in a '32 Ford 5 window........ did I guess right? (Perhaps I should have posted this guess before?????) Keep it going.... I like it! Tony
  12. I've got one of these '63 Galaxie "Prestige" kits, in my stash..... be interesting to see what you do with yours. Still haven't decided to go stock, drag, or Nascar with mine.... maybe your build will give me ideas.
  13. Comin' together well, Nick! Keep up the good work..... Tony
  14. Now that's my kind of car! It took strong arms, broad shoulders and guts to drive these beasts at the kind of speeds they were capable of. Love it........ will be following with interest. Tony
  15. Judging by some of the nice metal on this thread, who would know we're in a recession? Here's a few of my rides/projects. My summer driver: a 1999 Mustang 3.8 V6.... nothing special but great around town..... and for the occasional jourtney outside of town. A couple of project cars: A 1985 Mustang GT auto, T-Tops air, etc. Needs rear brake lines, a small hole patched in the floor, parking brake cable and hood release handle and a D##mn good wash! A 1986 Mustang GT 5 speed, T-Tops, air, etc. Needs......... everything! In the background is my winter driver and Gopher vehicle. A 1984 Ford E-150 Custom van, with a 351 Windsor, Auto, Air, raised roof and all the seats taken out to carry the good stuff! I also have a daily driver 1989 Mustang 2.3, 4 banger which I hope one day will be motivated by a 5.0 5 speed........ and a 2000 S10 ext. cab shortbox stepside V6 which I'm currently planning a quick resto on. Haven't figured out what I'm gonna do with it after it's done... if ever! Oh, yes........ and the wife drives a 1998 Plymouth Grand Caravan... 'cos I won't let her drive my 'Stangs!
  16. I'm curious why you didn't attach the headlight buckets before paint........ but I'm sure you have a good reason? Beautiful paint, by the way. Tony
  17. Thanks Charlie.
  18. Unfortunately, I don't have it anymore. It's at my friend's house about 100 miles from here. To be honest, I just built a couple of supports from scrap parts and then put a straight metal axle through it. Not the best modelling technique in the world, but my friend intended to put it in a display case and was only interested in what it looked like from the top! But I won't tell if you don't! And thanks to the rest of you for such nice comments.
  19. Hi Mike, Isn't it a great feeling when it all starts to come together! Love the truck as well. Well done. Tony
  20. Very nice save..... something special about these resto projects. Love the color and the sight mods you made. Very "classy" and not overdone. Tony
  21. All good points, and very valid. Personally I'd be quite happy to pay a few more bucks for decent wires.... having said that, I'd forgotten that the average new model kit, with taxes or shipping and handling costs, is well into the $25+ dollars now so I guess the average model buyer would hesitate with regular AMT or Revell kits hitting the $35+ price range. (Something tells me we're not far away from that price now, even with plastic spokes!) Oh for the good old days of $1.97 kits from K-Mart and the like! Probably even cheaper in the US. Back then I could afford to buy a few at a time. No more hi jacking....... back to the thread........ Tony
  22. Appreciate all the kind comments...... thanks. I was lucky with this one... a lot of my glue bomb restos finish up as a "glue bomb Mark 2" (or never get finished at all!). Tony
  23. Got it Johnny.... Thanks! I guess the list of all previous messages received and sent has just gone now? Or is that still around somewhere? Tony
  24. Beautiful work on such a small scale model! I wonder why most manufacturers of 1/32 scale and 1/25-1/24 scale can't make such beautifully detailed wire wheels that have scale size wires? Yet the tiny 1/43 scale manufacturers can. Or is it just a matter of cost? Tony
  25. I know I'm getting old and my eyes aren't what they used to be........ but I can't see how I get or send private messages on the new format. Or am I just missing something that's obvious to everyone else? Help....... ! Tony
