Settle an argument for me, folks.... Is Willys pronounced "WILL-EEZ" or "WILL-ISS" Thanks!

I LOVE IT! Great work!

Nice one, Andy. That Aoshima Hachi-Roku is too sweet, and has it all over Fujimi's. I've got their Trueno, and hopefully will get it to be a left hand drive US-spec Corolla tuner when I'm done with it.

'32 Fords! These're for you "Dr. Epstein" & U

Love the job on the Little Deuce. -
Thanks, Manuel. I'll give that paint a try.

Hey all, Has anyone ever tried using 91% isopropyl alcohol to remove paint from resin? Seems to me that the alcohol would not have the same destructive properties other methods of paint removal would have. Thanks!

Lookin' good! Nothing says drag racing like a Fiat bodied altered!

Recent Magazine
larrygre replied to Modelbuilder1313's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's Hank Borger's vintage "Swirladelic" technique, first seen in the pages of CAR MODEL Magazine circa 1972 - I know, I have all the back issues from that time! -
Completed..Initial D Sileighty, and Red S13 Silvia, 56k Naw
larrygre replied to Gray Smith's topic in Model Cars
Gray, nice job on both. The Sileighty is sweet, and has the right "attitude". With Aoshima releasing several new tunerized S13 Silvia kits in the next couple of months, I might take a crack at one of them. They are really starting to define a new standard that, as prolific as Fujimi is, Fujimi has not yet matched. -
Andy, are those the wheels from the kit? Man, they look good!

Aardvark Models Firebird III
larrygre replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Darin, thanks for that. Once again Andy outdoes himself - and I've been a fan of his work since the incredible Birdcage Maserati back in the 90s.....! -
Time Machine Resin 1970 Charger R/T transkit
larrygre replied to larrygre's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Brian, I have to agree. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff face to face for the first time at this year's NNL East. Jeff's a good guy - I remember how much I really enjoyed that first long conversation we had a couple years back via e-mail, and the first face to face one a few weeks back. His products are consistently good, well cast, and high quality. I'm particularly impressed with his A-body droptop conversions (the '67 Goat and the '67 Chevelle). Dirty j, e-mail Jeff and ask if he'll sell you the interior separately. I'll post some pics of my completed '70 Hemi Charger when it's had its turn on the project table. -
Dash Insert 61 Vette
larrygre replied to Len Woodruff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Izzy, the font is close, but the decal itself is too large for the dash cove insert. That lettering is the size for the block lettering above the grille on 1961-62 model year Corvettes. Unfortunately, its a "make your own" kind of situation unless, of course, Keith decides to add just such an item to his sheet. -
My best results have been with using Humbrol #21 Gloss Black. There is a caveat though: Humbrol paints need a ton of time to cure. Generally I leave the part alone for 72 hours before I take it to the next level. I've ordered some of Alclad's gloss black base to see if it works as well in less time. Any of you guys have any experience with the stuff?

Dash Insert 61 Vette
larrygre replied to Len Woodruff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Len, I've never seen one from any aftermarket decal maker. It might be a simple thing to do on an inkjet printer with the right font and a good vector graphics program like Adobe Illustrator. -
Tell me about Duplicolor sandable primer
larrygre replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lee, neither one of those cans is DS39. I have no experience with either can you show in the photo so I cannot recommend or reject either. DS39 is in the smaller cans, same as their regular paint colors line. I also agree with Bob Downie and Izzy about Plastikote T-235. It's a bit less "hot" than Duplicolor DS39 and may be better for the newer Revell plastics. If you can get T-235, by all means please do. Both T-235 and DS39 work well, as does Tamiya's excellent gray primer. Depends on the plastic. Always test the stuff out first on scrap, just in case. -
Tell me about Duplicolor sandable primer

I've bought DS39 at AutoZone, Strauss Auto, NAPA, Auto Parts Professionals, and Pep Boys. No problem getting a hold of the stuff. -
Tell me about Duplicolor sandable primer
larrygre replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dupli-Color DS39 Universal Gray Primer has been a staple of mine for years. Good stuff, not too thick so it does not obscure detail, and sands/feathers well. You can shoot Tamiya lacquers over it with no problem - I have. -
You know, Bob, the same thing is true for me. When I won any of their items on Evilbay, I got timely delivery. But when I ordered from them online through their web site, I got NO delivery. And I have formally complained to my bank about the non-delivery of two resin bodies. And my bank took action. I'd still like to have that '71 Demon body though.

I agree with Jairus, this is not a bad thing at all. Hobbico has dabbled in the past few years with products for the scale model car builder, such as their display cases, diorama accessories, and display turntables. Their main business may be in R/C and flying models, etc., but they have not treated our segment of the hobby as a poor relation. If this also frees up Revell to dedicate more resources to new products, it is for sure a good thing. There are few people I know in the hobby industry with the keen insight of Ed Sexton, and that is because Ed is one of us - an avid modeler and enthusiast. We couldn't ask for better.
-
As much as I'd love to, Jairus, I don't think I'll be able to go. Perhaps next year, my friend.

Someday, I plan to pull this puppy out of storage and attempt to convert it back to the original Car Craft Dream Rod. That is, when I find some really good references on it.

The only other Lindberg pickup was the '98 Dakota. Did THAT get 86'd?
