  1. I never had any issues with mine in the final fit.
  2. Thanks for all of the positive words guys. I've looking forward to showing it off this week end & seeing what kind of attention it'll get. There aren't usually to many builds like this that show up at our show.
  3. Jeremiah, I live about 3 blocks from the VFW, so it will defiantly be there. So, I'll see you there.
  4. I bought this kit a month ago with an upcoming contest in my sights. The theme of the contest being 'Fins & Chrome'. I thought this would be a fairly good kit & an 'out of the box' entry from everything else, no pun intended. I couldn't wait to see what was in the box, so as with all little kids, I opened the box as soon as I got in the car. To my surprise, it was a curbside/promo kit. Needless to say I was a bit upset. I just put everything back in the box and drove it all the way back home from KC to Salina. I let it set in the box for about a week & finally decided what to do with it for the contest. I had watched a lot of how to videos & put what I had learned to the test. Please take a look at my pics & let me know what you think & how you think I might do this Saturday at the contest. Oh, & Doc, thanks for the education. Now on with the pics:
  5. This is where all of my 'masterpieces' are created.
  6. Is there a more complete list of the rule someplace as to what you can and can't do in the different categories? I would like to have something to go off of so I know which one to enter into so I don't enter the wrong one and possibly get dq'd.
  7. I've done my inicial search and have not been able to find my answer. I have a color that I like. It's a dark burgandy color that has a red flake in it. It's drop dead sexy shot over a black primer. The issue I'm having is, after shooting it through my air brush, the flake has stood up and dries that way. Trying to wet sand it, it takes the color out of the flake and turns it back to silver in spots. My question IS: How do I keep the red in my flake when I wet sand the surface to prep for clear with out turning the flake silver? Do I clear the ###### out of it first BEFORE I wet sand it? I will try pretty much anything to keep the color in my flake. Please help. Thanks for reading.
  8. I rented movies just now and I saw that one. But to me it only really highlighted 2 main characters, so I put it back. Maybe next time I'll bet it and see what it's like.
  9. CRANKY, I'M CALLIN' YOU OUT!!! Ok, just kiddin'. I sat here and literally watched your videos on you tube and worked on Bad Karma at the same time. I have NEVER attempted anything like this before. All of my models have been mostly shiny hot rod, muscle car, street machine, full out drag car types. This time I decided to jump in with both feet and this is what happened. I think it looks pretty dadgum good myself. I'm just hoping the rest of the build turns out this good. Please feel free to comment good or bad. P.S. Virgil, Thank you VERY MUCH for your videos. Without them I would not have learned how to broaden my modeling skills more than they already were. You should see my key board now, since my work bench is my pc desk, the keys have pigment finger prints all over them from working and typing, lmao. It's really funny and cool at the same time. Again, Virgil, I'm glad to call you a modeling friend.
  10. I am waiting for a time to get some updated pics of my buddy's race car to finish my contest build. So in the mean time I thought I could get some stuff done on Bad Karma. I wasn't diggin' the paint job after a while. So since it was still a young p'up I decided some swimming lessons were in order. Into the purple pond we go. Stripped her neckid. Did some body messaging. Added some rust throughs around the fender wells. I tried the salting method. I think it worked ok, I'm gonna leave it alone. After I did all of my painting over the salt and got it all cleaned up it doesn't look all that bad. It almost looks like an all new style of camo. I have yet to start any of the rest of the weathering. So I thought I would throw in a few shots to see what kind of comments I can drum up. On with the EYE CANDY!!! Btw, I think my cell phone actually takes better pics than my dadgum camera.
  11. Hey Virgil, I have gotten tiny little 'crimp beads' from Hobby Lobby and I use them for AN fittings in my engine details. Just a little flower stem wire or bead wire in the center and a little paint and wah lah, instant AN fittings. And you can get them in a pack of 100 for around $2. You could probably even use seed beads that are already colored red & blue or which ever colors you want to use to spice things up.
  12. I will eternally be jealous Mr. Myers. As I am a Mopar fanatic, too.
  13. I totally understand the wholesome fun issue of this build thread. I am having a blast building 'Bad Karma' when I get the chance to work on it. But I have a question, & this maybe the 6am & I just crawled out of bed talking, but, with the boxes or armour on some of these vehicles covering the door lines, how does a person get in or out with a quickness in case of a zombie attack? lol Just a dumb 6am, 1/2 awake, don't want to go to work question. lol
  14. I'm not a blue oval fan, or that color, BUT, I will say that is a VERY clean, detailed build and THAT I DO like. Congrats.
  15. Great looking truck, Wayne.
  16. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! MY BUG!!!!!! Nice to see you found something to use it for, Joe.
  17. I think it's to bad they aren't 1:24 or 1:25 scale myself.
  18. I ventured out to Hobby Town today and ran across these 1/35th scale pick up kits. I don't remember the brand name, but they ran around $35 each. They were along the same lines as the photos that Agent G posted back on pg 92. I about fell over. They even come with a little Al Qaeda type gunner, too. I would have bought one, just for the hell of it and this build but I think I have plenty of time and maybe someone else might be interested in checking one out, too.
  19. HOLY SHIITE!! ( pun intended ) I really dig the graffiti on those trucks. Those pea shooters look like they could do some damage to the truck let alone whatever they're shooting at.
  20. Wayne, I got one of those, too. I've still got to figure out if I'm gonna point mine forward or backward though.
  21. OK, I hate to say it, but I had 8 long hours to think about it at that dreaded place called work today. As much as I am getting into my 'Bad Karma' build, I am going to have to but it on the back burner for a while since we have awhile before the deadline. I have another build that I need to get finished before an Apr. 7th contest and I have a lot of stuff to scratch build for it yet. I'll keep in touch and will be checking in on everyone's progress. Keep up the good work.
  22. Just helping those in need. I am that way at times.
  23. I can smell it from here. lol
