2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Bigdad replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Hi guys it's been quit awhile since I have posted here I have been having computer problems. I just stumbled across this community build and just happen to be working on a post apocalyptic diorama. It involves a 1/20 scale Lindberg AMC Gremlin that I have made into a 4WD battle car, a Bandi Votoms 1/20 scale Scopedog Mech and a couple of figures. I don't have any progress pictures yet but I'll get some as soon as I can. -
Hi guys I'm finally back, I moved the first of January and just got things situated so that I can start modeling again. I had no place to work that was heated back during the winter but the weather is better here in Indiana now so I can get started on my rusty Hornet again. I will be keeping you all posted on how this build goes.

Wow!!! You are an inspiration to any one who builds model cars fantastic work.

I have a few more reference pics one is of the engine I think that I will use for mine. I like the front tire hanging off of the rim too.
-
I have a question whats a good way to make flat tires?
-
Thank you Chuck those pictures are just what I needed.
-
I found some great reference pictures today I really like the one of the rear end and the missing drivers side door. I think that is what I'm going to do with mine.
-
I just got my Hudson yesterday I'm going to do a rusted out version with the bumpers and everything inside of the car. I think I will just have the engine block with the hood setting on the roof or something. The car will be setting on three wheels and a concrete block (if I can find some in 1/25 scale) next to an old shed. Here is a picture of the look I'm going for, I will post pictures as I go along.

Thanks for the comments guys, the only thing I don't like about the dio is the cotton fire coming from the headers. I just could not think of a good way to model fire, I think the smoke looks pretty good though.
-
Well my Rat Fink diorama is finally finished here are the pictures.
-
That looks great so far I'm going to keep my eye on this build too. I think I'll do a Hudson as a rust bucket in a diorama next to a beat up old shed of some sort with the hood up and the head off of the engine.

I just finished sculpting the figures and started painting them today. I had to redo Rat Fink's ears because they started drooping the last time I baked him. The three figures should be done by the weekend, then I'll get started on the base, the fire coming from the headers and the tire smoke. I'll post more pictures when the figures are painted. -

Thanks for the comments guys. Here is a link to the website, I get it at Hobby Lobby. I have used both Super Sculpey and Original Sculpey I like Original best it starts out softer easier to work with. http://www.sculpey.c...riginal-sculpey -

I finally got the engine in the Fink's Deuce I have run out of Sculpey so I have to get some before I can finish Rat Fink and start painting the car body and figures. I had to stretch the frame to get the motor to fit but it looks pretty good in there. I will post some pictures tomorrow. -
This is very cool your doing a fantastic job Sam, keep the pictures coming.

Well here are the latest pictures it's coming together. I'm holding Mickie up for the pics. I still have to do a lot of sanding on the body. -

I have an update, I'm using parts from a 1/18 scale die cast Deuce that I've had for a long time I have all of the parts ready except for the 1/10 scale engine I still have to get from my LHS. The figures are all finished except for Rat Fink's hands and some sanding and painting. I'm using the frame, front end, interior, wind shield and front wheels from the die cast. I may use the radiator cowl and head lights too. I made some big slicks out of Sculpey and I'm working on the body now. I'll post some more pics tomorrow. -

Well my experiment worked the Sculpey body is started I made a Styrofoam mold for the body wrapped it in aluminum foil and put the Sculpey on the mold. I still have to sand it and add the details like the trim and fire wall but it's a start. I also have Rat Fink's head done here are some pictures. -

I did my own version of the "Fink Eliminator" a couple of months ago I made the figure out of Sculpey. I'm a member of the Muncie modelers club and we had a theme for the August meeting. We were all going to build the same kit Revell's 62 Chevy Impala. I was not very happy about this choice so I did a little protest build. I think the Rat Fink is going to be a little bit more challenging though. This is Big Daddy's art This is my version -
Thanks for the comments guys, I made the palm tree first I glued three pieces of sprue together bent them a little and wrapped them in masking tape. Then I added some Testors putty to the trunk to give it texture then painted it. The top is just some fallen stems off of a plant that my wife collected for me at her job I just glued them on with super glue and kicker.
