Now to apply the decals. I decided to start at the top… And worked towards the rear.
-
I also started casting the new rim centers.

Just an FYI to show how these kits are engineered. Most of the smaller resin parts are molded on a sheet like this. Very easy to remove and almost just as easy to clean up. Notice that some extra small parts are included, just in case… (common practice in Fisher kits). The main PE sheet is also very nice… There are also some pre-made gauges with lenses included (inside bag) and another small sheet. Same term I use Ed… So, how about some PE origami? The interior tub folds up from one piece into this. Just follow the instructions. I did have to do some finessing (cutting and filing) of the resin tub to get it to fit without binding. Again, even the instructions advise to do so. A couple more PE pieces bent and installed…

Thanks guys! Finally got around to casting copies of the Weber carb I made. Each one is two parts, right now… Still lots of hardware to machine and details to add.

The rear framework is provided in the kit by three sizes of plastic rod and the measurements to cut them to. Also included to make that task relatively easy is this nifty resin jig.

Not really. They weren't that nice to begin with. It is a blessing that they are supposed to be fully covered by the skirts. It seems like this model might be a victim of trying to use parts from previous models to make a different version, and/or nobody built one of the kits before selling them...

Most of the suspension & transmission parts installed…

31 Nash: way beyond "Rat Fiink" Coupe: new project 5/9/13
Scale-Master replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking at the pictures of the real car on page one of this thread shows the engine clearly looks to be tilted up, (like John's model)... -
Got the base white on it, Testors enamel…

Just some thoughts on our hobby
Scale-Master replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is one of THE best things I have read in a long time. As true now as it was seven years ago... Well done pickrell. -
I went ahead and painted & decaled the interior while I was working on the chassis… Still a little more work needs to be done in there.
-
You mean the duct tape special? Naw..., I like this car better when it looked all pretty.
-
Usually, but not always... And thanks!

The tub is a nice solid piece of resin. Primed and shot semi-flat black here… And some detail painting… Transmission with a little wash…

I test fitted the body and chassis with the tires installed, still jacked up… After trimming the chassis and the inside of the body to make more room for the rear tires, I realized I needed to shave the inside side walls off the tires as well as bevel the tops of them quite a bit to get them to fit into the body. I also built the wing supports to make sure they would fit after all the trimming. New exhaust pipes were fabricated from aluminum.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm just going straight out of the box and intend to enjoy the building of it. Then the looking at it...

This has been on my “need to do” list for quite a while. It is a Fisher Pattern & Model kit. It is engineered and cast exceptionally well and the directions are very informative. First I cleaned up the body, not very much effort required for that. A good wash in detergent and water, then a light coat of primer that I sanded before final clean up test fitting and paint prep.
-
I cut off the exhaust pipes and milled the top of the chassis down until the bottom fit flush with the body.
-
She? Wouldn't that make it a Jill? Thanks for the compliment too.

Thanks guys! The little jack is done. I weathered it a little, didn’t want it to look brand new…

This is another older resin kit by Provence Moulage. While the casting wasn’t too bad as far as clean up, the rear was all jacked up, literally. The chassis should be flush with the body, not wedged as it is. The exhaust pipes are also way too long.

Thanks guys! Yes! I need to add the seat mounting points to the frame, and needed seats to fit those to. These seats are items I cast from a master I made for my last Seven. I did some reworking around the seat belt guides in the headrest areas to the parts and I made a new mold for the guide inserts after I modified the pattern. Still more clean-up and finish work to do on them, but they are fine for measurements now…
