I know, I'm supposed to be working on the 7, but sometimes you just have to goof off a little to get more in the mood to work on other more comprehensive projects. Plus I wanted to paint something and finish it quickly. This is just a Revell snap kit. Telephonica Blue with some old Scale-Master decals from a Lindberg Nissan SE-V6 pickup. They looked right to me... It was a fun diversion, and now I am going back to work on the 7...

White on White

Tamiya paints work very well right on bare plastic for me. Never had a problem with it being too hot. But a thin coat of primer will aid in adhesion which is very important if you are going to do any masking over the paint later. I have pulled Tamiya paint off with tape when it was painted on bare plastic. Only once, learned my lesson... -
How about an Off the Bench area?

I second that suggestion... -
'88 Porsche Turbo
Scale-Master replied to Scale-Master's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks. I did actually shelve this one for a few weeks after I first started freehand painting the black trim. Hand painting can be rewarding, but it can also be stressful. Went back to it and only painted one piece of the trim per day. That worked out as a good pace for this model. The wheels are from a Tamiya 911 GT2, tires are the ones from the '88 Turbo kit. -
Replica of a friend's car. Pretty much out-of-the-box except for the wheels and the removal of the molded in Euro style front license plate holder. Was a bit of a challenge to paint all that black trim on a pure white body, no room for error. It is a revamp of an earlier Snap-Loc kit, and the molding is not as crisp as we've grown accustomed to from Tamiya. Still better than many models of it's original era, and the fit is as nice as you'd expect. Paint is TS-26.

Very nice execution! Best one I've seen so far too...

Fun, Fun, Fun! Something I started sometime ago, just tinkering with it at the same time I did the Nismo Z. A minor diversion from something a bit more detailed... The front of the body is reworked and a few other areas were smoothed out too. Made a bunch of the decals, some are left overs from the Tamiya sheet, a few from the parts box. Paint is Chrome Yellow with Pearl White over it, and the roof is Gloss Black overcoated Pearl Clear, (looks blue in person), all Tamiya TS paints.

Seven parts for the can and mount, note the knurled edges of the cap. I think I can finally start it up now... -
Thanks Ismael. No Sweeps, as we apply it, means if you have more than one entry in a given category, only the model we choose as your best entry will be eligible for an award. Even if you enter three models and they are the best three in one category that has say seven models, you'll only get the 1st place. We do encourage entrants to spread out their entries into as many acceptable categories as possible.

The boots for the wires are machined aluminum with vinyl tubing. The bottom one is fully assembled and painted, the one above is the assembled parts. The rest of the parts are above them, the one different part is the boot for the coil. Almost finished distributor, ready for installation. Coil assembly, mounted and wired into the system. Other side view of mounted distributor. Still much to do in the engine compartment (and other places). The actual ignition wire is from an old remote controlled Countach model I had in the 70's. Saving the old stuff is not the problem, finding it when you want it is... -
Been tinkering on and off with this for several months. My entry in a common kit contest using the '66 Chevelle Wagon for this Labor Day weekend. It gave it's roof to my '69 Magnum Concept. Pretty much and out of the box style build, except for the ramp and hacking/filling, (no wiring and stuff). Just good (no so clean) fun...

35th Aniv. Camaro Red?
Scale-Master replied to Joe Oteri's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Compared to my friends real car, the Italian is closer between those two, but the model looks better (in my opinion) in the Bright TS49 over medium light gray primer. While it is brighter, it looks right on the smaller model. Over white primer it looks good too, just really red! -

Goes over the intake horn assembly, (shown partially inserted in the top picture). Mostly machined aluminum except for the threaded studs, cloth element and internal mesh. Most of the raw parts were posted with the air horns earlier. Custom decals too...
