  1. Thanks for all the comments guys! I guess it wasn’t 100% finished even though I entered it in the ValleyCon last weekend. I decided to add some more “junk in the trunk” and I made a 1/12 scale version of the 1/24 scale Tamiya Lotus 7 kit box.
  2. Yes Steve. It will be good to see you again too.
  3. Thanks for the heads up Fred. I'll check that out.
  4. Thanks guys. I am hoping it goes together well like most of the newer offerings from Revell that are tooled up similarly. So far It seems fit just fine. I'll let you know if I come across any pitfalls.
  5. It took a couple hours, just removing a little at a time and final clean up to make the surface smooth was done with 400 grit sandpaper.
  6. Some nice weathering work there. And the way the wires are run is very much like they would have been from the factory.
  7. I'm not sure what movie the light blue Seville is from, but it sure looks like the shot is from the May Company parking structure at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.
  8. I used an X-Acto knife with an old #11 blade.
  9. Thanks guys, I don't think Snake is a "hater", but I don't share his opinion on this matter either. The seats are copies I made from the AMT 68 Camaro.
  10. Got you beat by one Len. #9 for me. Looking forward to seeing people I only see every other year, or less.
  11. Digging around last night I found a piece of aluminum pipe in my metal stockpile, it had a slightly larger O.D. and a smaller I.D. that what would work for the outer rim for the wheels. So I machined up a set and also modified the wheels I cast to accept it. The aluminum is something from the plumbing supply section of a hardware store. Not too soft, but also not heat treated and very gummy to cut, but it was so close to the size I needed it was worth it to use. This is the first one I test made before doing the set of four I’ll actually use.
  12. Thirteen!? I guess I'd better start another Seven, again...
  13. You are entitled to your opinion, but the stinger matches the photos, and the owner of the car says I nailed it, so that is what matters in this case. You are aware that the BM Camaro hood/stinger is significantly different from a factory Corvette hood...? The lower trim was made from sheet styrene cut into thin strips and has been cemented into place with liquid glue. Once fully dry I’ll round face of the trim and shape the ends.
  14. Building the same car repeatedly? What a concept. I might try that!
  15. Yes, I used my lathe to turn them and my mill to add the tread, such as it is...
  16. Finding tires proved to be more of a challenge. I settled on this two piece injection molded tire from a MPC Volare Road Runner with Parts Pack. I filled the tire with polyester filler and turned it down and reshaped on the lathe. Then I cut a little tread pattern into it and removed the axle post. For a curbside it should be fine especially after the side wall details are added. These are the resin parts I will detail and finish.
  17. Thanks. I just scribed the hole with the back side of a #11 X-Acto knife after masking off the shape as a guide. The "trick" is to go slow.
  18. While casting some other parts I was using dye to color the resin and came up with a near exact match to the color of the spoke section of the wheel straight from the mold.
  19. Thanks a lot guys! Here are some detail photos. Engine bay. Underside Trunk Interior
  20. Thanks Art. I'm sticking a fork in it. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=99453
  21. After over two years it is finished. 100% scratch-built from raw materials. I'll share some detail photos later after I get a chance to shoot them. WIP Thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68368&page=1
  22. Final parts are installed. Finished photos soon... What a ride.
  23. The rear window was from something a bit older than the Nova kit as I recall. I'm pretty sure it was from an MPC kit as part of the extra custom parts.
  24. I was digging through the attic and found this the other day; it temporarily donated a valve cover and the traction bars to be cast for another project. I built this in the very early ‘80s, it was one of the first models I used the at the time new Testors Model Master enamels. The yellow is about the only older Pla enamel paint I used on it. I think the Aeroback conversion was done with custom window from another kit. Otherwise it is just out-of-the-box. I was not able to find the mirrors.
  25. Just out of curiosity, what would a good resin copy of that hood be worth to you guys?
