  1. The engine is done and I'm ready to forward the project. my computer needs a battery before I can upload pics though. Does anybody have ideas on how to safely ship the motor without it breaking?
  2. That turned out great! Sorry for not posting the pics you wanted, my camera wouldn't focus in on the molds at all.
  3. I just got mine, It's packed with more cars than any of the recent issues!
  4. Well I decided it was time to bring this project back to the bench and tonight I did some interior work. I found a chrysler 300 gluebomb the had a really nice unpainted interior and after some slight modifying the chrysler dash and front seats fit this old ford like they were made for it.\ Thanks for looking in! next up is door panels and jambs.
  5. I'm sorry to hear the bad news. My prayers are with Jim and his family and I'm glad to hear that he is trying to make the best of the time he has left.
  6. I wish my school would've done that! They all did a great job it's nice to see more young people showing an interest in our hobby
  7. It's been well over 100 degrees here for almost 2 weeks! By the time I got done putting the motor in my 1:1 on Wednesday I probably lost like 10 pounds in sweat lol.
  8. My first model was given to me by my uncle when I was 6 and I've been building models ever since!
  9. I'll pretty much build anything but right now I'm obsessed with '50s style customs.
  10. Thanks Hedgehog! Well heres a small update, I was reading the current issue of MCM and I couldn't resist trying to make hood scoops like the ones in the mag and heres what I ended up with. I also made a windshield visor out of some scrap parts. I'm not sure if It's staying or not though. Let me know what you think!
  11. After sanding I polish the paint with 3M rubbing compound and then go over it with scratch X as a final polish and I always get great results.
  12. What I usually do is get a nice straight piece of wood or sometimes even a piece of styrofoam as a base and then draw out the frame on a piece of paper and glue it to the wood or foam. Then as I build the frame I stick small metal pins into the base on each side of the part that needs to be held in place while it is being glued. Hope this helps. Billy
  13. I modified the intake to mount the blower by filing off the carburetor mount section of the intake and adding a sheet of .040 sheet styrene that I cut to the shape of the bottom of the blower to the middle of the intake and then I added about 2mm of height by adding some square rod to the border of the blower mount plate o nhte intake. Blower was painted with testors "chrome trim" silver and a custom mix of pale gold testors paints.
  14. I've been busy working on my 1:1 Regal but I've made a little progress with polishing out the Impala. i'll post pics once I have the body completely finished.
  15. Looks great!!
  16. It's not a blower manifold yet, But after some modifying it will be. I'm going to scratchbuild a new center section on the stock manifold to accept the blower and leave the ports alone so they match up correctly with the heads. (It's actually a lot farther along now than it was when the pics were taken)
  17. It took a little longer than I expected but heres an update, Block is painted dupli color black Freeze plugs painted with Testors Gold Transmission painted with rustoleum silver and titanium metalizer with Testors dullcote intake painted with Spaz Stix chrome over flat black to resemble polished aluminum heads drilled for plug wires and painted with color place silver blower mocked up Next up is getting the blower painted and mounted and then lots of wiring!
  18. Any automotive paint store should be able to mix it. And just so you're not surprised the factory Chevrolet Synergy Green is a tri-coat color that includes a non metallic green base and a semI transparent green pearl topcoat that has to be sprayed very evenly to get an uniform finish.
  19. You could always clear coat it to make the whole thing really shiny.
  20. You did a great job! all the modifications flow together really well and the color gives it a really nice clean look.
  21. Nice paint! that color looks great on this car.
  22. Okay, I finally have a motor picked out. I was at Kmart earlier and I noticed a Revell 72 Cutlass convertible kit and decided to use the olds 350 Rocket since it is less common than the typical chevy big block and I will fully detail it add a custom blower and carb setup that will all fit under the hood. I will have pics later tonight!
