  1. Oh boy good thing this is a long community build......it looks fun but quite involved. I have to wait a week to get started on mine, gotta finish a F-150 pick-up model for a friend first. I'm one of those build one at a time guys.
  2. This showed up today from Micro-Mark. Havent done anything with it yet, but should work fine.Should compliment my lathe nicely.
  3. That Ki-84 is screaming my name........just a few more days.
  4. Joe, this is the model I PM'd you that I was gonna build instead of the Eduard 190.
  5. If your going to the Hobby Lobby near us in Hanover, then any of the Iwatas are good. Not sure if you have a compressor already but I would really consider getting one, with a water trap. The compressors they have there are good but a bit pricey.
  6. Got my jig "table" today and some rare earth magnets. Works great for building frames and parts in brass or styrene. Get a piece of white poster board draw your design on it,place it on the steel sheet, use the magnets to hold the parts in place and solder or glue. Actually got the steel plate idea from Dirt Modeler.
  7. Since I came back to the hobby about 5 years ago I have not shelved a build. Thats not to say I havent gotten frustrated or wanted to throw the thing at the wall, but I actually enjoy the problem solving process and seeing it through til the end. That being said I have a few models that didnt turn out the way I wanted them to. Usually I will buy a duplicate kit and give it a go again after I made my mistakes the first time. I also seem to be in the minority in that I only build one kit at a time, so I do not have other projects going that may take my focus away from a problem build.
  8. 2013 Chevy quad-cab long bed Duramax 4X4, 2011 Chevy 1500 4X4, 1996 S-10 4X4. In the summer a 1970 Chevelle SS(in storage now).
  9. Great weathering skills. Awesome builds.
  10. Nice builds Blair. Cant wait to see what you do in 2014.
  11. I have several friends who are welders for a living. I tell them what I need and they pick it up for me.
  12. Well I broke down and did it. I got a cheap Harbor Freight lathe. It was reduced 50.00 and I used an additional 20% off coupon so I couldn't pass it up.I have a full size lathe in the engine shop but its tough doing small projects on it. Plus the added PIA of having to go into the motor shop to use it. This fits in the model room, and I only turned some acrylic rod down but it worked good. We will see when I chuck some aluminum up.
  13. Gorgeous model. Very well done indeed.
  14. Everywhere. Supplies and models: Model Roundup,Mega-Hobby,Scale-Hobbyist,Tower,Sprue Brothers,Hobbylinc Tools: Micro-Mark and the above places. Detail parts: Dirt Modeler, RB Motion, Scale Hardware,Scale Motorsports,Pro Tech, and Teds Modelling Marketplace
  15. Was just wondering if the majority of us just build strictly car models or if you build models of other types. I build 1/32 scale airplanes, jets and props except WW1 aircraft (hate rigging), 1/24-1/25 and 1/16 cars, and 120mm figures.
  16. Thank you. Its my pride and joy .
  17. I know I have alot of aircraft so don't hold it against me. I have a few auto kits and several on the way. Been building 1/32 aircraft for awhile and just started getting back into car models.
  18. I own 2 businesses. During the day I build automatic and manual transmissions. At night and weekends I build racing engines.
