What did you thin the nail polish with? Lacquer thinner? If so, you could probably use something like Krylon Crystal Clear or Tamiya. Nail enamels are usually pretty hot, similar to auto body enamels. I've shot lots of things with nail polish thinned with lacquer thinner followed by lacquer clear coats. But.... DISCLAIMER: Test shoot on a junk piece to see how the nail polish & clear interact before spraying your model. You never know what mixing different brands will result in.

This is what I do, too. Sometimes I use a small file to level the surface since CA glue is harder than plastic or resin.

If you make the panel lines deep enough, natural shadows take over. I still add a very transparent flat black wash to help out. I use a #11 blade with a tiny bit of the tip broken off. Steve
