  1. That is one of the finest builds of a '65 Riviera that I've ever seen! I have wanted to do that build for years now but always stopped short of starting mine because of the lightly engraved body emblems. Seeing how your mild custom turned out has convinced me that doing away with the emblems would not be the travesty I've imagined. Would you be willing to show some interior shots of the Riviera? I would be highly interested in seeing how you went about doing it. Again, she's a beauty!
  2. Absolutely gorgeous! Love the color.
  3. Your build takes me back to the time of my youth, lol, when I built that very same kit when it first came out (mine was the flatbox issue and I built it as a funny car). I absolutely love the color combination.... another plus is how you improved the rather sparse engine compartment. Thanks for sharing!
  4. I too have had this kit for years now but the design and look of the convertible boot always put me off. Your build certainly has done the kit justice and moved it up a couple of notches on my to-do list. Thank you for the inspiration.
  5. The engine compartment is immaculate and the paintjob just pops! Congratulations on a great build.
  6. I've never seen the '67 Pace Car modeled before in 1:25 scale, and yours is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
  7. This is the other car I built for the Spotlight Hobbies B-Body Buildoff of February 2011. There is a personal story behind this build. My best friend, Brent Dixon, built the very car you see here back when the kit was first issued. After languishing for a quarter century in the attic of an old tin-roofed shed (you can image the heat, cold and humidity it must have experienced) I found it and many other builtups that the two of us had done back i the sixties and early seventies as teenagers. Mice had burrowed into many of the cartons and nested there so I needn't elaborate on the fact that what was recovered needed seriously cleaning, lol. Brent was gracious enough to give me a bunch of our builds (lucky for me he has long since moved on to the 1:1 model car world) and I began bringing them back home in the mid nineties. This ones paint was stripped long before I had a camera to document its condition at that time. It had been painted gold, with a black top and red #22 decals as it was built as the Nascar version. It was painted using Tamiya TS-42 Light Gun Gray and clearcoated several times. The 'R/T' and 'Charger' symbol are of Keith Marks origin as the original emblems were long gone. This was also my first attempt at emulating wood grain interior appointments. Not too shabby, but at least I learned what doesn't work. I hope you enjoy my effort as much as I enjoyed resurrecting this old friend. Thanks for viewing.
  8. That is so nice! Love the color and execution.
  9. Built this for the Spotlight Hobbies B-Body Mopar Buildoff on February 26th. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3228-1-1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3244-1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3246-1-1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3255-2-1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3251-1-1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3270-1-1-1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3287-1-1.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s240/turd_furgeson53/Model%20Cars/Finished/Factory%20Stock/1967%20Plymouth%20GTX/DSCF3290-1.jpg Added plug wires and battery cables but other than that its an out of the box build I hope you like it as much as I did building it.
  10. I think your choice of color is spot on for this particular body style. I am doing something similar with an original 1970 Dodge Charger R/T buildup. Yesterday it was sprayed with Tamiya TS-42 Light Gun Metal and then clear coated today with two coats of TS-13 (Tamiya paint lays down great). And like your build, the Chargers interior will be multi-toned black. Looking forward to seeing your build as I've also thought about building this Buick for awhile now. Just wish the '65 Riviera was as detailed a kit as the '66....... its body style is even nicer.
