  1. In my experience, Alclad Chrome is fragile when sprayed over Tamiya gloss black. Also use wet coats misting chrome makes it more fragile. The top coats do not bite into lower coats of the chrome.
  2. I used tamiya acrylics many times when i did planes. I always used tamiya thinner. Yes, you can use alchohol and lacquer thinner. Thin until the paint drips off your stir the consistency of milk. If it does not drip almost instantly after withdrawing the stir from the pot itis not thin enough. About 12 psi on the compressor and you are good to go. You should have a moisture trap on your air lone, too. 2 coats is all you need
  3. Thanks guys. I picked up a bottle of Chevy Engine Red and the 72 Husrt Olds convertible too! Joe.
  4. It is really a great build. Are there any aftermarket pieces for this big guy?? Thanks, Joe.
  5. Ok Model Car Garage how about some photo etch for this one? It would be really nice to see a strong after market support for this one!!! joe.

  9. I got a different Gundam, same scale though, for my birthday many years ago. My father in law and son started it but never finished. I am slowly taking it apart cleaning up attachment points and will glue and paint it. I am having so much fun with it i have chosen another.

  12. I am building the Imai FXST Lowrider. It has a 80 cubic inch Shovelhead motor. My question is on the right side to the rear of the small case cover is a fixture with several hoses coming out of it. I want to know where those hoses go! I suspect this is in the oil system??? I don"t know the year exactly but it has the AMF ham can aircleaner. Thanks for any help, Joe.
  13. Snow means way more Saturday bench time. For me I would much rather have cold than heat! It was too hot this summer even for Chicago. Joe.
  14. Paul, did you replace the bolts on the valve covers? if so what size did you use (TunerModel??). thanks, joe.
  15. Thank you all for these postings. I was very close to ordering a '68 Chevelle SS396. that would have been about $35 down the ratter. joe.
  16. Did Tamiya do one also? I know they did the GT3 road car and a GT2. Perhaps they are closer. joe.
  17. Paul, i will be very interested. i am still collecting bits of aftermarket as they come out for this one. joe.
  18. This was a big debate among airplane modelers. there was a line of squished tires but they were a bit exaggerated and many said unrealistic. Most modelers just file a flat on the tire and this will work very well. For auto modelers this is not so easy because of the tire material we get. Still if you work it you can get a bit of a flat spot and this will fix the over inflated look of the tires. joe.
  19. Outstanding! Please give Matthew your templates for the interior parts. If the SMS CF is just the exterior I probably will not get it. I was going to do mine in Ferrari's dark red. I am definitely doing the interior parts in cf. Did you use 1/12 or 1/20 scale cf? Thank you for sharing your build. Joe.
  20. i am waiting for that vette too, but not patiently!!!!
  21. thank you for the tip, joe.
  22. Would love to put in an order for a 1969 or 70 GTO convertible in 1/25, let me know when....
  23. I consider myself a rivet counter. I add detail and correct manufacturer's mistakes where my modeling skills allow. The rest is what it is. I don't criticize anyone else's style or belief in this case. I do hold the manufacturer's to this ideal however. someone else said it best, it does not cost much if any more to do it right. I will gladly pay more if their is greater detail and it is correct. joe.
  24. Like a new Dodge 2500 Daytona or in Harley trim. joe.
