  1. Thank you David. That was part of the plan. Makes it more realistic as you mentioned. I am contemplating adding a 5th mechanic near the boom area. Still deciding how to display him there. Thanks. Glad you approve.
  2. Added the figures and details to the diorama. Unfortunately the figures did not turn out as nice as I would have it. The figures are from Fugimi racing set and they are not the best. The facial feature was a hassle to get right with pretty much no detail expression or lines at all. This made it harder to paint especially with the little skills as a figure painter. But I did my best and the results are better than not having figures on the board. The overall effect is better with figures, so it made sense to include them. Hope you all like the update. Thanks for looking.
  3. Part 2: Another update to this diorama, I am still working on. I finally added the boom to the diorama. So far I am liking the whole scene. Did quite a lot of modifications and some scratch building to get it to look descent enough for display. I painted and modified the engine with some scratch built parts as well. I also added an old truck axle from my previous vignette to this scene. I thought it would add interest, instead of a stand-alone vignette, as it was before. Added the first hydraulic to the front of the vehicle. It was also detailed with some scratch built parts. I added some hanging cables from the side of the cab to make it look like they are working the internal cables and hydraulics of the machine. Just some added interest. Started on the first figure for the diorama. Not my best attribute but its a start to making the diorama look lively. Hope you like the progress so far.
  4. Thank you. Thank you Sam. Just finishing off the boom and other details. Will post photos later.
  5. Thank you QbanFam.
  6. Thanks cobra man.
  7. Thank you David. That's the plan. I'm sure it is. Can't make it out either. It fit right in though.
  8. Thank you. I thought about it and maybe I should have but then I thought, it would be a diorama where this is being renovated. So, the tyres have been changed leaving the last axle which yet has to be mounted.
  9. Ok. Here is where I am with this 'toy conversion'diorama project so far. The results speak for themselves. It is not complete yet. Still have to add more details, boom arm and weathering. This is just to show you all the overall look of the diorama. The container is from an old project. I re-painted and re-weathered it, and made it to look even more delapidated. I converted a toy 1/24 scale excavator model, for a diorama I was planning. This particular excavator is a model of the Volvo Ew160c model. There are some things that are a bit off, but in general overall look, it is pretty similar. I wanted to try and modify it to look like a show piece. I will be adding a figure or two and some accessories. I still have to weather the engine. Will post some photos of that next week. Still need to add the boom arm and small other details that will complete the model. Hope you enjoy the photos so far. The original toy Model excavator: The excavator after re-working it:
  10. Thank you. Much appreciated. Glad you liked the results. I've made some small changes since these pics were taken.
  11. Thank you Ellen.
  12. You are too kind Ellen. Thank you for your warm words of encouragement.
  13. Thanks Chris. Glad you like it.
  14. hi Bruce. Dust? Yeah! After all, where is the environment going? Unless we destroy it altogether. As for the parts/areas you mentioned, maybe. But I do not want to mess with the front any more. If I was to change it it should have been done in before painting and adding the decals. So that's out. But appreciate the input.
  15. Thank u kindly. Glad you appreciated the overall look and each individual part that makes up the completed scene as a whole.
  16. Thanks Gary. Thanks Bruce. Thank you. Not too sure of the downforce but not too sure if it would matter in this design. Although, it looks bad***!
  17. I do appreciate your comment. Thank you.
  18. Still adding details to this build, before calling this finished. But thought I'd showed it, seeing that it was close to finish. Yep! Another anti-gravity vehicle. I can't seem to get enough. I tend to want to turn everything in to a floating subject. For this conversion, I used the Revell Ford GT vehicle and did some major surgery to it. The original engine was very basic block engine. But the overall design made this a sweet candidate for a super bad and awesome looking anti-gravity vehicle. Lots of small misc. from my 'box of tricks', was used to give the engine a more brutal look. Since I did the F1 hover race car(found on this forum as well), I just went ahead and did one for the Le MANS racing fans. The anti-gravity pods simple scratch builds using odds materials from household materials and parts from other kits. So far, I think the look says it all. Hope to finish this up in a week or two. waiting for a figure to go along with this bad***! See you when it is done. Enjoy the photos.
  19. Sounds exciting. Diorama building is meant to be fun. So take your time and get it to the level you want it to look like. In the end it will all come together.
