Good looking truck ... tell us a little about the 1:1.
The FJ Holden was Holden's second model, their first was released in 1948. They were powered by 6 cylinder engines and were a reliable old work horses, FJ vans are fairly rare these days but there is still a few originals and custom ones on our roads.
Here's a pic of an original one. (except for the widened wheels)
And a modified one.

Here's my next project, it's a resin FJ Holden van kit.
The kit is from Majestic Resin Australia and comes as virtually a complete kit.
I thought I better put one together to evaluate how well they fit and use it as a chance to re-engineer any parts if we need to, to make it more "user friendly".
Cheers Rob.
Here's what the kit contains:
Mocked up, not sure what wheels I'll run yet.
Coat of primer on her, stay tuned......

Not sure if it should be in the section it is or in the light commercial section........
If it's in the wrong section can the moderators please put it in the correct section for me?
Hope you guys like it.

Ok I've finally finished this one, I started it before the NSW NNL Titles at the start of April and was aiming to have it done by than............. didn't quite pan out that way.
But since the show I've been getting back into the models and finishing a few off.
So here it is......
Revell 32 sedan kit chassis and interior built standard out of box, sedan body substituted for a resin 32 sedan delivery body by Majestic Resin Australia.
Unlike all the other sedan deliveries out there, this one is actually a sedan delivery, not a tudor delivery.
Body is Mandarin Red with orange clear over the top, interior is light tan.
Went together really well, only bit I had to scratch build was the back window. Body fitted as well as any of the Revell ones I've put together so I'm pretty stoked with the outcome.
Body required very minimum clean up.
Anyone chasing a sedan delivery body can shoot me a PM, and I'll help you out.
Cheers Rob

The decals came from the Revell '81 Chevy Citation low rider, need two kits though to do both sides. I kept the decals and swapped the rest of the kit onto mates.
The tyres and rims are an old MRC pack.

That is nice. How can I go about getting one of those bodies?
Later-
Shot me a PM and I'll help you out mate.

Here's the latest thing I've thrown together, was an Aoshima HiAce kit built basically standard out of box.
Wasn't the nicest thing to put together with several fit issues, I expected more from a Japanese kit having built Tamiya kits before I thought this would fall together too but was mistaken.
Paint looks black but is actually dark purple, black base coats with clear blue and pearl over the top, the windows are tinted REAL DARK with Tamiya smoke. It looks nice but shows up the dust and fingerprints real easily. -
Small block engine in this kit, great build up looks great.

Here's some pics of something I've been working on for the last two weeks.
It's a 32 Ford sedan delivery, I'm using a Majestic resin Australia body which is designed to fit the Revell 32 Tudor kit. (But will also fit the 5 window kit).
I've started the engine and got the diff in the chassis, the interior is done I just need some more fine, warm weather to get some more paint on it and some clear. After looking at it more, I think I'll need to add some basic wiring to the engine.
Hoping to have it finished in the next week.
The bodies were released at the NSW NNL Titles this year along with Majestic's FJ van kit.
Hope you guys like it so far....... -
Cool how were the decals to apply?
-
It's not a real good replica, dimensions and proportions aren't even close to a Falcon, I wouldnt waste my hard earned dollars on it guys.
-
The 'pursuit special on methane' that The Night Rider stole was a Holden Monaro; the three MFP cars were all Ford Falcon XB sedans, and the 'Black on Black' was a Falcon XB coupe.
Not true, Max's yellow intercepter was a XB Falcon, as was the one that hit's the sign post and t Bones the bongo van, the crappy 6 cylinder one that goes through the phone box and rolls is an earlier XA Falcon sedan. The "last of the intercepters" black coupe is an XB.
Night rider stole a HQ Holden Monaro and Max's personal car was a Holden panel van.
Hope this helps.

I've got the slammers kit and other AMT issue, I'd love to get a few more even better if they are boxed as "Christine" and have movie shots on the box to add to my Christine collection.
This has been my favourite movie and book for years and years.
The car in the movie I believe was solid red not metallic.
Also mentioned earlier in this thread that in the book the car is a 58 Plymouth sedan (4 door), this is both correct and incorrect. At the start of the book it is referred to as a 2 door coupe, in the middle it's a sedan (when the hitch hiker opens the back door) and at the end it's a 2 door again. The reason for this is King wrote the middle of the book first, than came back later and wrote the beginning and end and had forgotten it was a sedan.
Cant wait to see it hopefully released.

Like everything it has it's good points and bad.
The way I see the good and bad.
Good:
1.Find some cool old obsolete stuff you'd never have the chance to find otherwise.
2.Learn abit more about our hobbies history. (and find van kits and box arts)
3.Good to sell some of the collection of when you need to thin them out.
Bad:
1.Easy to get excited and spend a heap of dollars.
2.Trying to get people to post to Australia, although 90% of those I've contacted have sent stuff to me I've missed out on a lot of stuff because the seller wouldn't post outside America. They're losing out on a lot of potential dollars.......
3. Getting charged $45 postage from the states, than when it arrives the postage on the box is $28. C'mon guys.
I still get on ebay everyday and the lady that delivers parcels to our house knows the whole family on a first name basis she spends that much time here.
My main gripes are the ONLY POSTS TO THE U.S. and the worst one I think is the old NO RESERVE AUCTION than they kick it off at $100 or some other amount which effectively is their reserve. If it was no reserve it'd start at 1c.

$100 kick off = wow!

Thanks for the nice comments guys, got to love the vans.
Cheers Rob

Today I got a AMT Matilda custom van, been chasing one for awhile to add to my van collection. Still need a heap of vans to complete the whole set but I'm getting there one at a time.
It was factory sealed until it got here........
Factory seals dont last long in my house.
