Nick F40 replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you saw my post? Yeah, he looks like he does amazing work, I will be talking to him more, that's the kind of stuff I want to do, in the garage. I'm starting to remember all my dad had taught me becasue some of the things you guys are saying is ringing bells. I have experience, I pretty much grew up doing and helping with it and I went to school for it. ANYONE around the southeast part of Pa, stop by and i'll detail it! -

C'MON HARRY! I would be doing this IN the garage! They I would be able to fix the dent, now paint, if they want to take it to paint but since I don't have a booth, I can get a gun and supplies, but I COULD paint it..... -

Well, I go to an Auto Body VoTech class so lately I have been using an orbital polisher like that one, with one handle on the side. I just want to get the supplies like you said, not a lot but what I need. I go soft when I use it. This would most likely be done in our garage. I probably will use the polishe if it's real bad but yeah I like to do it by hand. Clears aren't that great anymore like you said, I'll have to watch those corners what exactly do you mean by abrasive medium I think I know but just checking. here's an example of my work, this is when I first brought it home it needs some love now, becasue it got a little scratched up -

Well, that is awsome, why don't you still have it? I'd be moving to Colorado! You never told me that, so I knew there was something else with you that we got along with. That basically sums it up! Red and black being the hardest. I want to get either a Meguiars or DeWalt polisher. How did you get started, how did you get your name out, how did you get to do exotics? I guess in Colorado you have the rich folk Names, I was thinking, Nick's Group B Detailing and Rally Prep Kern's Automotive Detailing (KAD) Kern's Sports car Detailing Nick's Specialy Detailing I can also get my dad to help. I have rags, polishes, waxes, etc. Need more supplies and a polisher but other than that. I just want to build up a good name and make decent money, how did you set the prices and did you earn good money? It's something my dad enjoys but something I always loved to watch him do and sometimes help with and now since I know the tools and how to use them I love doing it. I like the fact that I fixed screw ups in the paint and I made it like glass, I like that feeling. I just found my calling, I just don't know why I didn't see it earlier. You want to do it again and team up? -
Ditto At first glance I knew it was either Jag or Aston Martin and I then lookd a little bit more and knew it was an Aston Martin. It looks like a diecast...so model, maybe?
-
Does anyone enjoy doing it? Have pictures? Have their own business? I am thinking of maybe having a business at home or mobile in detailing. I belong to a couple sites, Detailing World and Meguiar's Online, is there any other good references or sites? What all is needed and what types of cars to detail etc. I just need input.
-
that is awsome! Nice Opel.
-
Ooooo that ones nice, like the color and nice wheels. That pair looks good.
-
Ok, not that is cool, nicely done.
-
That's awsome Dingo! I like the model. I want to be like you, even when I get older:rolleyes:
-
can't go wrong with a Jagoowar
-
Ohhhh yes, here we go Gotta love Zakspped and that 956 and I love the bay of that 320 I need to make ITB's like that. We just need racers like that nowadays Martini, Gulf, IMSA Audi, and this scheme were always my favorite
-
I ALWAYS loved this car, I had a Johnny Lightning. The color, wheels, engine, body, is all perfect, my favorite Indy car era, I wish the new F1 cars would be this nice looking, although, they do look like the early 90's cars a little.
-
I meant that ALL the street versions were stripped and awsome! Yeah Dingo, the new WR cars aren't anything to sneeze at, the new ones go as fast or even faster in the same terrain and they are woosie! At night these guys are INSANE
-
that basically sums it up Pug's are just insane, all the street versions were awsome, but were really stripped. The RS200 was mental, it was a rocket and with Cosworth, you can't get any better.
-
Heck yeah Bob I totally agree the FIA screws everything over, but shut up, it must be nice to be able to just drive to Road Atlanta! Mine would probably have to be the Stratos; loud, light, raw, rwd, short, fat, fast, low, and pretty paint scheme. Lancia still has the manufacturer rally and championships records, 10 titles and 73 wins! I love the 5 cylinder barbble though, and Group A was sweet, heck I like them all. I agree with you about the let's see a NA$CAR driver run one....and they don't even play BTCC or DTM anymore!!!
-
Just sweet, you know I love it, they need a model of the R 26R.
-
ahhh yes REAL driving talent. Yeah this is hard as most are retired or sadly died. I would have too say pretty much all of them because to do this, it takes a certain type of insanity and talent. Walter Rohl, Hannu Mikkola, Juha Kankkunen, Ari Vatenen, Henri Toinoven, Colin Mcrae, Marian Bublewicz was good, and Finnish drivers, Carlos Sainz, Michelle Mouton, etc. etc. You definetly can't forget the driver in RAC, those were probably more insane than the Group B drivers. Back then all they wore was t shirts and shorts some of them in the Safari rally, just racing belts, no helmet even and to pilot, the Alpine, Stratos, Escort, Manta, Mini, Saab, Datsun, etc. Those were RAW rally cars and real competition. These guys were drifting even before the Japanese knew what it was, on snow/ice and dirt. I just love rally. stupid fans, way to screw Group B from that time on! This is what cars were made to do! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsU5tEZ9_48 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMaTgONDXUQ...feature=related my kind of terrain
-
The street versions weren't too bad they didn't have too many problems but the racing ones were pretty cool. I like this one. This ought to turn out good, after you fondle all the plastic. I forget which one Jeremy Clarkson hates, that they filled it with water

Curious about Mini Cooper S models
Nick F40 replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw 18's and 19's being fitted but they look rediculous, 17's and 18's look well proportioned. I would love to build one of these, I love them also but can really seem to find a good kit but now I think i'll have to get that one with the photoetched parts. I want to build a new version of the Monte Carlo Minis. The Italian Job Cooper's had 18's, i'm pretty sure. -
Yeah i'm serious, I would like to get started. I sure won't have anything that will compete with the WR cars but I wouldn't mind an 80-90's Audi, maybe VW, E30, Toyota, etc... yeah I know, they are finally realizing it and I can not wait, it ought to be awsome and it will allow people like me who would be starting out. It is great, I try to watch all that I can since SPEED blows......
