SCCA- TRANS AM...BACK?
Nick F40 replied to 3men2s's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've said this one million other times to different people with the exact same view AMEN MAN, AMEN!!!!! The only people who watch or know/interested in this are either hardcore,me, or know about the racing and sports cars and SCCA because majority don't and chances are, if you read Grassroots or Classic Motorsports, you are into and know about all of this. You ask any one of the 24 kids in my Auto Body class and none would know what your talking about, except for one, me! And i'm darn proud! -
SCCA- TRANS AM...BACK?
Nick F40 replied to 3men2s's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well i'm glad you know about Speed World Challenge because most don't. Yeah me too, and I like love Toyota, but that's what makes Le Mans, Grand Am, SCCA, NASA, and what made Trans Am what it was back then, representing our pony cars, and they ran WHILE turning, and represented America well, and NA$CAR isn't it. Look how the Galaxie and Mustang impacted BTCC..... did some off you know that? -

SCCA- TRANS AM...BACK?
Nick F40 replied to 3men2s's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah I read about this in the last issue of Grassroots Motorsports, they are coming back but with the GT1 class cars, like the Mustangs, Camaro, Jaguar of the 90's and 00's. It still is sweet. Me personally, say we already have Trans Am back, the SCCA Speed World Challange has a lot of factory race cars but then again you never hear about that. The Grand Am Koni Cup is also a great series, real pretty much stock with few modifications race cars, and the Challenger is already racing in it, and the Camaro GS is going to be racing in that series. But then again, you never hear about them because Speed thinks nobaody cares and it doesn't bring in 3 million dollars every time it aires. I still know about and love to watch it though. Yeah the Challenger raced in the Daytona race the day before the 24 at Daytona. It's funny how the "Trans Am" cars are back in a series that most have never heard or seen about, sad really. Yeah the Mustang is already competing in this series, and now Challenger and later Camaro so yeah, they are racing it's just Speed doesn't think anybody will watch, BS.... -
I heard of this story. Chris you're right, this is even better in person

Oh yeah LOVE the Escorts! Those are REAL Escorts, the Europeans had all the good versions. I also like the Corolla, those Toyota's could rally.
-
This is very VERY well built, the paint/decals are flawless. You Australians know how to build! I always liked this version.

The famous Elf Philips version was the winner, I think they have a model but to make one it is pretty easy, just take one of the Maxi 5 turbo kit's and put the lights, wheels, and some of the vents. Yeah resin aren't that cheap but are your best bet.

Bob Yes, Bernie has screwed it up.......

Now this I like, my kind of sleeper, and my favorite chevy engine, 409, she is fine
-
Yeah that's the one! You did a good job.

Nice Megane, it's cool you have these, I want a Renault, I want to move where you live anyway! YES!!!! LeCar! I want it.

YOU WATCHED IT??? They need to race at Laguna I tried to watch the live coverage but dang I watched the beginning and fell asleep until the very end, but I was tired I wasn't really paying attention so I watched the replay! Chris, Brendan, all of you I agree with, it was a crash fest and they need to change some things around and the having to use all sets of compounds is ridiculous. I actually grwon to the cars, especially after watching the thing with Posey and the animation with Vettel. They are sleeker and simple and after 11 years, slicks! Vettel's 3 wheeled finish was a great part in my watching experience Even though Ferrari wasn't really in sight, it's sweet that the Brawny cars got it on their first race, with a brand new team. Since the French Grand Prix in 1954 with Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling for Mercedes-Benz. I thought it was with Jacky Ickx and some one else. Nice to see Schumacher there, Brawn still has it obviously. It was funny how they were saying about Button only having one win in 200 races and.....he wins it! Barrichello needed this. Although Trulli lost his podium spot forsafety car infringement and Vettel penalized for Kubica crash.....WHAT??? It does look like a SCCA Formula car or Mazda Atlantic car.....they are just weird!!

Dale, I love it!!!! Do I get to drive the 500 for this year or......... I can't wait to see you do this! ANY of them, all of Tamiya kits are great. Get a Sauber C9, that's what I want to build.
-
I always love your work, straight out of the UK!
-
Your quite welcome and yes, they have them too. If you have any rally questions, I can certainly help you out, right now i'm building a 1984 Audi Quattro Acropolis version.
-
Tamiya has most of them. They have racing, stock and both Monte Carlo Minis. Tamiya, Monogram, Gunze Sangyo in 1/24 Airfix, most of them were in 1/32. You can also find Spridget's and MG's. Fujimi and Tamiya has the 037 and Statos both in rally and with the Stratos, HF and Group 44. They have the Munari/Waldegard version. The Porsche 959 Paris Dakar is the one your most likely going to find, but you can easily turn it into the Group B car. The Ferrari 308 you can get the Tamiya stock version, not sure if they made the rally but you can get the wheels form the rally Stratos, paint them gold and put some lights on it and you basically have it. Heller just re issued a R5 Turbo that was in the 1982 Rally World Championship. Renualt also had the Alpine A110 that they ran but that was before Group B, in RAC and Revell of Germany has that one along with Tamiya and Fujimi. The Peugeot, Tamiya, Revell of Germany and maybe Heller, both Group B and 405 Pikes Peak versions. Citroen, there has to be some. I need to get the site again but one of my buddy's on here has a site where they make resin body's and they have the C4 BX. Just go to shows and maybe Ebay, maybe emodelcars but HobbyLink Japan will have most if not all of them.
-
yeah, I think Revell of Germany makes one, I think yellow and white. I want the Phillips red and blue one. I'm with you also, I want to find some but are hard. Tamiya makes the Safari Rally Celica and Starion and I think Audi. Revell of Germany has a couple.

I just want to live in Australia A guy my dad works with said that when he went down, that's all he saw. I like Patrol's but the Landcruisers are just proven...bulletproof. I was rasied right. I guess since they are common over there there not as special My dad owned a 69 FJ40 and a 79 pickup and a 76 Celica, so the good Toyota's always have been my favorite.
