  1. nice...it almost looks like a 3D effect going on...i like it bro!
  2. ok guys...its been a couple of weeks...had to order some supplies and i even managed to find some nice rims ... right now, i'm trying to solve this dilemma i have with me opening the trunk...i've toyed with a couple of ideas, but i just havent had time to go into the lab to work on it...i hope to post some pics later this week
  3. nice start bro!
  4. man, don't let others discourage you...from the short time i've here, everyone has been nothing but encouraging...keep the updates coming bro... i like how this one is starting off...you just gave me an idea of how i can fix my trunk situation i'm having with my challenger
  5. looking good David...i have a question...which thickness of styrene did you use to make the body kit?
  6. looks very clean! did you ever finish that model?
  7. nice and clean...looking good man!
  8. Thanks Romell...i've seen some of your work, and a compliment coming from you is truly inspirational!!!
  9. So this weekend, I finally got around to doing some REAL modeling. My fiance helped me clean out the shed( i will post pics of my workbench soon)... so now i have a place to go and work on my cars. So with that being said, I got the billboards attached to the sides of the car...I have pictures, but I took them with my phone so the quality isnt that great...I will try to take some with the digital camera this evening. I also cut the trunk then ran into a slight problem. I guess in the world of styrene and sracthbuilding, there isnt anything that cant be fixed if you have a little creativity and ingenuity, but it was an unforseen problem. So I just have to rethink this a little bit, but i dont forsee it becoming a major setback...
  10. ok...so i talked myself into going to my LHS and man i didnt realize how expensive some of that stuff was...lol...but i ended up getting some white putty and some glue so i think i will try and work on it some today, but mainly my time will be spent shaping up the "billboard" (thanks Cliff), and glueing the rest of the body (bumpers) together, so that i can remove the tape...Since i will be doing some sanding, i will go ahead and do my presanding of the car to get it ready for prime sometime this week...
  11. thanks cliff...i was aware of Icenine, but for the love of me, i could NOT remember the name when i got home. I have them saved as a favorite at work...lol... thanks for the tip too...the styrene sheet i used was actually perfect imo and it only required one layer...i just need to glue it down. I think i will go ahead and make the trip to my LHS or nearest without being too far hobby shop today...lol...Im even thinking about cutting the top but we'll see....I dont want to stretch myself too thin with my first car back into modeling.
  12. ok, so if you read my previous posts, you saw that i didnt have any glue or putty today, so my progress was limited to what I could do with masking tape and some styrene...keep in mind i am in NO way nor to I claim to be a car enthusiast, so if i dont know the technical name for something, then i apologize upfront...I just like the idea of putting things together...so with that being said, I've seen kits where there was a decal that had HEMI written on the side of the body, but i didnt want to replicate a decal...i wanted to replicate the actual modification to the body...It was actually easier than i thought... *I spoilered the pics b/c of the size...i didnt realize they were that big I start by looking at a source pic off the net, then eye balling where the measurements should be...from there i used a red pen on top of some masking tape and traced my pattern...I used about three layers of tape From there, i slowly peel the tape off, then transfer it on to the styrene sheet.. I used some scissors to cut, then hand sanded the edges of the styrene...I may have to use a lighter to make the styrene bend to the shape of the car, but it will be a very light usage of heat...but the pic below is the styrene being held against the car with tape My plan when i get my glue and putty is to form fit the styrene to the body to make it all look uniform...until next time
  13. Hobby Lobby is about the same distance as that hobby shop, but hobby lobby (at least to my knowledge) doesnt sell the putty or the glue that i want...I may pass by m LHS tomorrow though at some point
  14. add me to the list of people who will be watching this thread...GREAT work bro!
  15. nice...i may do one of these when i finish the challenger im working on...will keep checking on the progress
  16. ok guys, dis some work today but not much...i violated probably one of the most important rules when it comes to modeling and that was make sure you have your materials before you begin...lol all the glue and putty i had from a while back has dried rock solid. The nearest hobby shop is a good way from where i live, so I really have to be in the mood to go on that side of town to get something...who knows, i might make the trip today or tomorrow... I will post some pics later
  17. those are actually from a Dub City Escalade model. I got them from one of my little cousins a couple years back. He was going to just throw the truck away until i said "whooooooa, not so fast!".... hmmm...thanks...i will give that one a look
  18. was that to me or cliff??
  19. cool...thanks once again Cliff...i really mean it...hopefully, i will have an update in a few days..
  20. Cliff, can you post a pic of how the stock rim looks once you cut off the "blackened area"?
  21. Cliff!! That is a VERY neat modification you did...Im about to go on ebay RIGHT now to see if i can find some Aoshima rims... looks like you painted the stock Challenger rims...did you strip the chrome off then paint?? Thanks a ton bro Edit: I re-read the post and saw that you did strip the chrome off...silly me...lol
  22. I think i got the gist of this tutorial, but it would have been nicer if there were some better quality photos...
  23. good question...lol...i like the color in you avatar... but i want something that will pop if you know what i mean...I will probably be using the Dupli-color line of paints as I've read some good things about them from other modelers... but those reference pics would be great if you dont mind
  24. what was the name of the black used to paint the hood and the top?
