They look great! I am a VW freak myself and have one of these under construction at the moment. It has been set aside while I finish a couple of other model projects, but will be going back to it shortly. Kevin

Converting the Red Barron to the Black Knight

What thickness of brass sheet did you use to make the leaf springs? I am planning on making two sets of springs for an upcoming rat rod build and would love any tips you might have from your three attempts to get what you wanted. Did you use a wire brush for polishing out the edges? Kevin -

I am a huge VW fan, so I am looking forward to seeing what you do with this kit. What kit are you sarting with? I have tons of 1/24th an 1/25th scale kits and one 1/20th scale, and also some 1/35th scale, but none this big. And I love that it is a split! Nice panscrapper stance as well. Kevin

I love following all of the in progress pics you are posting. I am very interested in brass work and am in love with seeing your work in this area especially. I am thinking of doing a brass frame for a project I am going to be doing in the near future. Keep up the greta work and I am watching for sure! Kevin

I would be interested in that Volks Rod project body if you do it! I say the Tamiya kit would be the better kit to make it for. Kevin -
I build mostly 1/24th and 1/25th scale cars when I build cars. I prefer mostly VW's and Rat Rod's. I have a large collection of VW kits either in the works or waiting to be built. It could be a while as I also build WW@ Italian aircraft, dinosaurs, and girl kits. My interest in this message is to see if anything is available for VW in the type 3 line. Especially the Ghia. I have some die cast notches, squares, and fastbacks. I really want some plastic or resin though so I can build them custom. Also would be interested in any Hebs or splt window bodies. Any part makers who specialize in V-Dubs would be kewl to know as well if there are any. I look all the time but have not found much. Found the BRM's and Manx window frame in this thread earlier from Japan. I also have Maryland's detail kit for the Manx engine. Been trying to pick up a Type 2 dual cab body but everyone seems to be out of them. Would also like to find some smaller tires like 135's or 145's for the VW front ends. That's it for now. Look forward to any input if anyone knows of anything. Kevin

Those BRM's are amazing! The white metal ones of course, couldn't afford the finished ones! Might try to get me a set though. Kevin

What was your source for the whitewalls you used?
