  1. Thanks guys. I really thought putting one strip at a time would be a pain also, but its not really that bad. I am using Gorilla wood glue which sets up really fast so it makes for pretty fast results. If anyone has any ideas how to make a roll up garage door please let me know. I know it sounds difficult, but there has to be a way.
  2. Ok I have been puting alot of time into this and this is what I have came up with. I use 1/16 x 1/4 strips of balsa wood for the siding. I really glues up nicely and turned out alot better than I thought it would. I also started on the roof and am pretty happy with it so far too. If I would have known this was going to be this fun I would have started doing it along time ago.
  3. Ok, heres what I have done so far. I got some sheets of balsa wood to act as plywood and glued to the side. And than I got some smaller strip1/16 x 1/4 balsa wood and I am going to glue to the plywood and stack to look like siding. That will be a project I will have to tackle tomorrow.I am not happy with the door, but it will probably change once I get everything else taken care of.
  4. Thanks for the kind words Jim, and thank you Charlie for the information much appreciated.
  5. Hey guys, I have been wanting to do some kind of diorama for along time now and wasnt sure what I wanted to do, so I decided to build a garage. I have never done anything like this before and was not sure where to start so I researched framing garages and found alot od good stuff. It would be completely difficult to frame it just like the professionals do, but I think it turned out pretty good. I am going to try to put balso wood on the sides and find something to use as siding. If anyone has any ideas I could use for the siding please help me out here.
  6. Thanks guys, this is my first time of doing plug wires, so there not the greatest. I bought some wire from radio shack the other day that will work alot better. I am going to try to push the center hubs further into the tires so it sucks the tires into the wheels wells and that way I dont have to mess around with putting blocks in the frame.
  7. WOW. Thats alot better than the original black. You really hit this one out of the park man.
  8. I love this truck and reallyenjoyed watching this one come to shape.
  9. Thanks guys, I appreciate all the kind words. I am not much of a photographer, and my camera is not that great. It does look alot better in person.
  10. I have been working on this one for quite some time now, and am finally finished. I built this for my father inlaw as he owns a tractor repair shop called STOUT SUPPLY. He is color blind, so his favorite color is blue. I tried to go all original and pretty much hit the nail on the head other than the wheels. I started out with steelies, but decided I wasnt digging them so I rummaged through the parts box and found the wheels that came with a monte carlo, painted the centers black and WA LA. This is the first under glass I have posted that is actually finished so I hope you like it. Enjoy
  11. You nailed this one man. Like it alot.
  12. Is the back end of that made from a ford aerostar van? I really like the mirror arms.
  13. Sorry about the poor pictures. This thing is just FASCINATING in person.
  14. I went to our local show and shine this morning and came across this 1974 Fascination powered by a Renault 4 cyl. The gentleman that owns this car told me there were only 5 of these made and he is owner of 3 of them. 3 of these were built in Sydney Nebraska, 1 was built in Lincoln Nebraska, and the other one was built in Northern Colorado. This thing has factory digital guages, cruise control, and can steer in a complete circle without leaving its own footprint. I was really attracted to this car, because we dont see something like this very often at our local car shows.
  15. I dont think I could get in this thing, I would have to put it on and wear it. Wonder what the safety rating is on this thing.
  16. Thanks guys, much appreciated. I am using acrylic paint so how exactly do I thin it out and how much do I use.
  17. Hey Cole its not too hard to make a 3 window out of a 5 window. I just built one for father inlaw. I just glued the corner windows in and filled them with putty, and sanded them down. It actually turned out pretty nice.
  18. I finally got time to try out my new airbrush that I recieved from Ken Bryller a few months back. This is the first time I have ever used an airbrush. I used it on a piece of cardboard for a couple days first and than I moved on to a 49 Mercury. Its not the best but for the first time I am pretty tickled with it. Let me know what you think.
  19. Hey Doc, where do we get the information to send these builds to you and when we have to have them in the mail?
  20. I figured I had better get back to this one. My summer is going by so fast August is going to be here before I know it. Here are some pics of paint. I tried Dr Crankys famous salting techniique and it came out pretty descent. I appolagize for the bad pictures, this thing looks pretty good in person.
  21. Wow. I really dig this idea. I really like the uniqueness of this one. Good job with detail.
