  1. Joel Rosen of Motion Performance built some of the quickest tuner car during the 60's an 70's. His guarantee, they would run 11.50's at 120 mph in the quarter mile. As time permits, and as I take a break from building WW II airplane's, my plan is to build a number of cool Baldwin Motion cars, such as the 1967 Ko-Motion L88 Corvette, the first 1967 SS427 Chevelle, a 1968 SS427 Camaro, a couple of 1969 Phase III SS427 Camaros, a 1969 Phase III SS427 Corvette, a 1969 Phase SS427 Nova, a 1969 SS427 Chevelle, a 1970 Phase III Chevelle, and a 1970 Phase III Camaro. I will post as I make progress.
  2. Wow! Awsome color. Nice work,
  3. Working slowly on this one. Engine is nearing completion. Next will be the chassis and wheels.
  4. Cliff, Fujimi has two different Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona kits. One is the regular Daytona coupe and the other is the Daytona Speciale coupe. Both are enthusiast kits and are very well detailed. I have both. I highly recommend the Fujimi 250 GTO kit. I have attached my Fujimi 250 GTO that I have under construction now. I am building chassis 3505
  5. The information that I have (Ferrari 250 GTO by Anthony Pritchard) about the 250 GTO 3851 was that Henri Oreiller (co-owner with Jo Schlesser) was involved in a fatal crash Oct 7 1962 during the Coupes du Salon, Montlhery. Oreiller was the only driver to be killed driving a 250 GTO. This book says that Oreiller was not wearing his seat belt when he crash into a building. The wrecked GTO was brought back to the factory and was re-bodied as a series 1 250 GTO. Chassis 3851 was originally Grigio Metallic from the factory.
  6. The Ferrari 250 GTO is my favorite Ferrari. I have 16 kits of the famous Ferrari. In my opinion, the 1/24 Fujimi 250 GTO is the best kit for the money, hands down. I have three different Fujimi 250 GTO kits under construction along with one 1/24 MFH 250 GTO. There are many photo etch parts and resin parts made just for the Fujimi kit. Elsewhere on this site I am slowly documenting my build of chassis 3505, a right hand drive GTO using the Fujimi kit. I also have 1/24 250 GTO kits from Gunze, Italeri, MFH. The MFH kit is a wonderful kit, but I still prefer the Fujimi kit. Additionally, I have the previous ROG 250 GTO kit. Quite honestly I purchased the ROG kit for the decals. The ROG body dimensions are off, especially the rear. A new re-tooled kit is needed in order to compete with the Fujimi kit. Time will tell if this is a newly engineered kit or just a re-pack of an older kit.
  7. Progress has been slow on building Chassis 3505. Other than the extensive rework of the body, here is an update on some of the parts I have been working on. The right hand dash and floor extension is from Historic Racing Miniatures. The door panels are photo etch parts from Hobby Design. Each of the rivets had to be drilled and set.
  8. Update - Engine assembly is under way on the MFH Ferrari 250 GTO 3729.
  9. Nice builds! I believe that no one can have enough GTO's
  10. Looks good! I just bought the Revell 599 GTO. Looks like a decent kit. I have already ordered the exterior paint for mine, it's a little different than yours. The color is a vintage Ferrari color called Vinaccia. Here is a photo of the real car
  11. I very good book is Ferrari 250 GTO - The History of a Legend by Anthony Pritchard. Publisher is Haynes. Looks at the 1962-64 racing history plus a detail of each chassis. I do a lot of reseach online too.
  12. Mike, With the exception of MFH who made different versions (although, my kit of chassis 3729 has the oil filler door on the right side and should be on the left side for this particular a right-hand drive version), most other kit manufactures seem to have taken the most common GTO design ques and produced a model. I believe that the Fujimi kit best represents chassis 3757, 4115, 4153, 4219, and a few others . Best advice is to research a chassis and modify one of the existing kits to resemble the real car. There were 32 1962-3 series 1 250 GTO's produced, one 330 LM GTO (chassis 4713), and another three series II cars during 1964.
  13. I am not 100 percent sure on the headliner. Here is a photo of chassis 3505. Photos that I have seen of other GTO's it appears there wasn't a headliner. But I could be wrong.
  14. I am really excited about this kit. However, like the Fujimi kit, this one will probably take some additional time as I do not rush my builds.
  15. Thanks Bill. I agree, accuracy is very important when building any of the 250 GTO's. I do a lot of research in order to make them as accurate as possible.
  16. Here are a couple of photos of my MFH 250 GTO chassis # 3729 that was driven by Mike Parks during the 1963 Tourist Trophy. This is an extremely nice kit and very well detailed. I have included a photo of the Fujimi and MFH version together.
  17. Work on my Fujimi 250 GTO chassis 3505 is progressing slowly. I have begun adding the photo-etched parts to the door panels, dash, and disc brake rotors. The door panels have a nice photo etched plate that includes 24 (smaller than a pin head) rivets that required drilling a set a needle nose tweezers to set. Wow! This took a lot of patience, but the end result is outstanding. The gas cap is from MFH. The 250 GTO engine that I am using is a mixed between Historic Racing Miniatures and Replicas & Miniatues of Maryland. Together, both offer the most realistic 250 GTO engine available.
  18. I started adding the photo etched parts from Hobby Design to the interior. Each door panel has 24 VERY SMALL rivet pins that require each hold to be drilled. To set each pin required needle nose tweezers and a magnifying glass. A lot of work but looks great. I will follow up with some photos later in the week. The body is ready for paint, however, I am waiting for less humid weather.
  19. My collection of 1/24 scale Ferrari 250 GTO's is growing. Got a note from Island Collectibles yesterday letting me know that my Model Factory Hiro Ferrari 250 GTO is on the way. I ordered MFH "F" version which is the car the Mike Parks raced and finished second in class and overall during the 1963 Tourist Trophy at Goodwood. This car, ser # 3729, RHD, was the only white 250 GTO produced at the factory. I will do a comparison of the body lines between the MFH kit and the Fujimi kit. On a side note, I ordered paint from MCW for my 250 GTO ser # 3987 driven by Roger Penske & Augie Pabst at the 12 hrs Sebring. Research shows that the Mecom racing team colors was Pelham Blue, a GM color from '59.
  20. Thanks Chris. The Fujimi kit is a new kit, not a re-issue. Body proportions look very accurate. I have a couple of MFH 250 GTO's ordered. I will see how the MFH body compares to the Fujimi body.
  21. Chris, title is Fujimi 1/24 Ferrari 250 GTO Chassis # 3505 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58981
  22. Chris, I am currently building 250 GTO s/n 3505 using Fujimi 1/24 scale kit with many upgrades. I have posted pictures of the body with modifications on the workbench section. I am in the process of purchasing a MFH 250 GTO, Mike Parks car to add to my GTO collection.
  23. Outstanding! You do very nice work. You must like the TR as well as I like the 250 GTO
  24. That is a lot of $$$$$$. Nice to see that the car will now be in the States
