  1. Thanks Paul! I forgot about the M/T Grand Ams and I have the red and yellow versions. No Marines version tho'. There is another kit that wasn't mentioned, "Revell's Jungle Jim". I just saw this posted here. There is a Tom McEwen rear-engine dragster also. Thanks! Have A Great Day!
  2. Hi! Gareth, I can't help with production quantities. But I can add to your list of Signature Series kits. These are kits I have. Kuhl & Olson "Da Revell Fast Guys" T/F "California Charger" AA/FD Tony Nancy "The Loner" AA/FD Roland Leong's "Hawaiian" F/C I don't know for certain if the Beebe & Muligan AA/FD, Tom McEwen "Revellution" F/C, "ChiTown Hustler" F/C, or Don Prudhomme's "Army" Vega F/C were ever Signature Series cars, but they were all 1/16 Revell kits. There was also a Gene Snow "Snowman" Vega F/C. I have the re-issue of these kits, except the Pruhomme "Army" car. It's an origanal issue. Hope this helps. I'm sure someone will come along with a more precise answer.
  3. So is brake bleeding still a two person job on this car?! hehehe! M/C looks awesome! Nice job! Some day I might be as good as you! You got skills bud. Can you tell me, again, what ashesive you use? Thanks! Have A Great Day!
  4. Well, here's a small update. I wanted to show you guys what I found when I open the kit. Looks like some anodizing was attempted. Not successfully on that floor pan. This is the assembled, painted seat, with adjusters and clasp. Sorry, the pic is not the best. I love this one! This is one of my Dad's little notes. He corrected a mistake on the instruction sheet. Couldn't have one silver cyl. head and one black cyl. head. Any suggestions on how to simulate annodizing? There's lots of red annodized bits on this car. I want to smooth all the mold lines on the frame and paint it, but Revell wants the roll cage area left unglued to accommodate seat installation and then glue the cage halves together after the seat is installed. This would make glue line removal and frame painting difficult. Any suggestions? All comments and suggestions are welcome, please! Have A Great Day!
  5. Thanks so much fellas! It helps to tell these stories. Thanks for listenin'! The notes are written right on the instruction sheets. I've copied the instructions and put the originals away as you guys suggested. Great idea! Thank you! Don't need 'em to build the kit. He's my Dad and we were best buddies, but we didn't always think the same. You know, there's more than one path to the same destination. Pics and questions to come! Thanks again, guys! Have A Great Day!!!
  6. Hi! guys, I've decided on my next build, a 1/16 scale rear engine dragster from the early 70's, Kuhl & Olson "Da Revell Fast Guys". It's funny how carma, intentional misspelling, works. I chose this particular kit because it's the only back-motored digger kit I have. Thought it would be good for a second in a long time build. I'm lookin' at it, thinkin' I don't remember buyin' this kit. I open it and find another surprise. It's been started. The driver figure is assembled and painted, the seat and harnesses are assembled, and the frame halves are assembled. What the...?! I open the instructions and there's the decal sheet. Flippin' through the directions, I find notes written... in my Dad's hand! Man-Oh-Man the tears start flowin'. This kit was started by my Dad! He only ever had two large scale kits, this one and the Jeb Allen car, which he completed. WOW! I'm blown away! If you haven't figured it out yet... my Dad, my best friend, is passed away. He was THE consumate "car guy". He also built models, 1/25 cars, 1/72 WWII aircraft, and HO steam era trains. He sold his large, about 750 kits he had been collecting since the 50's, model car collection to fund his 1:1 race car. He kept a few kits. I have them now. I figured out that he had kept kits and completes of 1:1 cars he had owned. They are all 1/25 scale. My intent is to restore and build what he saved. Sorry for the short story to announce my current build. Thanks for lettin' me ramble and reminisce a bit. I'll get some pics up so you can see it's current state. I'll have questions I know you all will help me with. I'm now REALLY lookin' forward to this build. Gotta' do my "Pops" proud... He's watchin' me! Have A Great Day!!! I am!!!
  7. NICE work on the tins! The bead rolling looks great! Dzus fasteners?!?! Are you kidding me?!?! AWESOME!!! Are ya' gonna' dimple the holes so the dzus buttons will lay flush to the panel? And are ya' gonna' roll the top edge of the side panels over the top frame rail, like in the 1:1 pic? I think I'll just go now! I've probably created more work/headaches for ya'. My apologies! Have A Great Day! Hope To Talk To Ya' Soon!
  8. I've never been to a model car show. That's going to change next month. My GOOD friend is coming in from Reno, NV with some of his show cars. We're goin' to ModelZona 2011 at the Commemorative Air Force Museum at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ. So, friends is a real good reason for goin'. Seein' some cool builds. Meetin' people and makin' new friends. Seein' what's new. AND at this show I get to see one of my other loves, WWII aircraft. Woo! Hoo! Should be a real good time!
  9. This is my first finished model kit (1/16 Revell CJ-7 Renegade) in longer than I can remember. I built this kit just to see if I could still competently build a model. I kept it simple, box stock. Left the body in the molded color and brush painted the details. Didn't even clean up the mold lines. I learned that I have shaky hands. Makes detailing a challenge. I was steadying my hand with my fingers braced like a pinstriper and lots of concentration. I also used my magnifier a lot. Older eyes. I also found that this is not a very good kit. There are unused holes in the body. The windshield is supposed to lay down on the hood. After installation of the wipers that doesn't happen and when the sideview mirrors are installed, the problem is compounded even more. The chrome was lousy. Large areas unplated. The wheels were the only decent chrome. Part fitment wasn't bad. I learned some lessons. Which was my purpose in this build. The next will be much better. It will probably be awhile before I'm to the level of some I've seen here. But I think, with time and guidance from you all, I'll improve. I have fairly thick skin, so if there is something you see that needs improvement or a suggestion, don't be bashful. All in all, I'm pleased with the outcome. Thanks for lookin' at my build. I truly appreciate it! Have A Great Day!!!
  10. THANKS for the warm welcome! I've been lookin' around at some of the builds. WOW!!! I am truly humbled. I'll get some pics up of the workbench and the Hobby Room ASAP! You're right! I think I will like it here! Have A Great Day!
  11. I was there. Lots of models. Not much large scale stuff tho'. This was my first experience at a model swap meet. Pretty cool! I got to meet some of the fellas from the this forum. I ran into Sport Suburban - Raoul. I had met him from a past model kit purchase. I got to meet and talk with: martinfan5 - Jonathan, Agent G - Wayne, Danno - Dan, PlasticKits - Dale aka HERE, and Moomeyzs - Chris. I met and talked with some other folks, but I don't remember or didn't get their names. My appologies if you're on this forum. I just want to say Thank You to the guys I met, for making me feel so welcome!
  12. I'll be there. I've never been to one of these events before. Anything I should know? I'd like to meet up with some or all of you guys if possible for a little guidance. I'll be the round hippy/biker lookin' guy in jeans and t-shirt with the head band on. Hope to see some of you there!
  13. Hi! Everyone, My name is Keith. I'm just getting back into model building. Got a "Hobby Room" set up in my home. I'm collecting tools and supplies. I've found out that being away from modeling has put me behind the 8-Ball, technology wise. So I may be askin' lots of questions about what's new, what to use, and how to use it. I like to build the large scales, 1/16, 1/12, and 1/8. Lots easier to detail. I like to detail. I like to build drag race cars and hot rods from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. I've also been collectin' older "Super Car" kits, Cobra, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc. Also older open wheel cars, Indy and F1. I just picked a couple of GP bikes to build too. I also work on full scale cars now and then. I'm a "Bleed Blue" Ford guy. I got the model building bug from my Dad. Thanks In Advance For Your Knowledge And Advice! Have A Great Day!
