My little project
Sticks replied to Sticks's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hi Tony Thanks for the tip, Nigel sent me a sample a while ago so will try cutting that first. I rang Nigel today and the check plate is still not in, maybe in a couple of weeks, that gives me a chance to catch up on the second trailer. -

update photos. I am waiting on the checker plate for the floor to arrive and I have just given the second trailer a coat of undercoat. This might be a silly question but how does one make the pictures larger?? I cant seem to find out how. -

Tony, Thanks for your feedback and being kind of new here its all a learning curve and all advice, hints and tips are greatly appreciated in all ways. Its great to see the detail in your builds and it would be great to see the finished product. I think I have a long way to go with the building side of things but that will come with time and experience. I now know which way I will go with the plate now and thanks for the tip on. Once again thanks for the advice and for the visual aids and I'm sure there will be many more questions to come. Cheers Evan -

Tony, I rang Nigel today and they have the photoetch checker plate and now they have plastic checker plate (so we can paint) in two sizes (sorry I cant remember the size) but to do a 41" flatbed with the small size he said that one would need 3 sheets and now he also has a large size that will do it in one go. Thought I'd let you know. Cheers Evan -

Hi Tony Thanks for your advice and I see what you mean with the checker plate, the trucks and trailers are the modern era so therefore I will have to go check plate but I have a few of questions for you, Do you use the panio wire as a weld with check plate is that what you mean by "fake the weld lines"?, Forgive me if I sound silly here but you also mention "clips ect out of panio wire" what clips are those? and Where does one get panio wire from? Thanks for your advice, muchly appreciated. Cheers Evan -

If the weather is fine tomorrow the trailer will get a lick of paint. Will update photos when done. One question though, The trailer will be blue ( the same as the dolly ), tossing up between painting the deck black, silver or a tan colour. Any thoughts?? -

Sweet custom job mate, very nicely done. -
My little project in process The underside of the trailer has had a coat and the top now needs to be done. Then the suspension is to be attached, the front and rear gates to be panted and a few odds and ends lights ect. Some more updated photos, Sorry I have not posted more but I have had some bad news with a friend passing so haven't done much.

Here is the start of one of the 45" Tri axle trailers
-
Thanks Tony, I am only having the two trailers at the moment. Already learning from my mistakes. As I'm new to the truck side of modeling what do you suggest for a strengthing method? This is something I am not rushing and I want to take my time with but will be taking photos and posting them as I go along and maybe get some advice. Any advice would be grately appreciated.
