  1. Unfortunately, we may never see this particular kit re-released. Don Prudhomme hasnt been very ambitious over the last number of years about granting the licensing for his particular kits. The Army Monza was the last in 1/25th. There was never a Miller LIght or even faked Larry Dixon TF car. Never a Skoal or faked Prudhomme TF or FC. ("faked" = owing to the fact that the late 90's saw the beer and tobacco industries wiped out of the model kit industry) (remember the "faked" Budweiser Earnhardt Jr. 8 car?) The possibilities in the aftermarket, alone, would make this or any of the 1/16th FED kits HIGHLY desirable to re-release. Typical of the kit manufacturers. The front engine dragster was driven by real men, with b@lls as big as grapefruit, and a brain that was a bubble off plumb. Those cars had CHARACTER, and they had names....."Wynn's Winder"....."Wynn's Charger"...."Wynn's Jammer"...."Jade Grenade"....."Cow Palace"....."Fighting Irish"......"Young American"....."California Charger"....."Wheeler Dealer"....etc etc etc. Now, they have .........."CoPart"......."Al-Anabi"......"DHL"...."Castrol GTX"......etc.........whatever corporate sponsor that has helped to put drag racing out of the reach of real people. Put the driver between the slicks, behind the motor, PROTECT HIM PROPERLY, and you'll have real drag racing again. JMHO
  2. Wow.......pour down some bleach and hit the pedal !!! "Very nice", "bitchin'", "wicked pissah", "friggin awesome", "kooool daddio"...........whatever area of the country you're in, those all apply here !!!! Excellent build, of a great kit. One thing I have added to my own 1/16th, and 1/25th FED's.........RB Motion rod ends, with jam nuts, and stainless tubing for radius rods. Very nice workmanship on his rod ends. They come in various sizes for different scales and applications. I cut my own stainless .050 tubing to the right length, and the .042 rod ends slide right in. Makes for an extremely convincing radius rod and drag link set up. His kits come with short lengths of tubing, for use with rear 4 link set ups on door slammers. They arent cheap, but they are definitely worth it. www.rbmotion.com With the excellent work you've got here, Im not sure I would mess around any further, though !!! Just a stunning, stunning build. Very inspiring.
  3. Hey guys.......this Jawbreaker kit is actually a re-release of the old MPC American Graffiti 2 John Milner dragster, from the mid-70's. Same exact kit. However, for this release they focused on the Fuel Coupe body rather than the FED. I would prefer the FED, as Ive built a few of the Milner kits. That kit even included parts for two engines, using the same basic block. Hemi heads and covers with the correct headers..... and as Milners 1:1 car was......a blown small block Chevy with correct SBC headers. The Jawbreaker kit is the exact same kit, minus the dragster shorty tailpiece body and SBC parts. Why the Milner kit included parts that we never saw in the movie, who knows......but they are all there. Full body, rear wing, fuel coupe body, interior tin, Hemi parts, etc. I would only imagine that they planned on some sort of alternate release by plugging the molds for the Milner parts. I dont believe there was ever an alternate release, however. The Milner kits, if you can find one, are rather rare and thus valuable today. Im sure licensing prohibits re-releasing the Milner kit. Paul LeMat has a hand in quite a bit that has to do with American Graffiti items. Still a neat kit, despite it's obvious shortcomings. Will build into a decent Fuel Coupe that represents the era, nicely. In my humble opinion, one can NEVER have enuff Front Engine Dragster kits to create some historic, and some fantasy race cars !!!!!!
