  1. That looks Sweet! Nice stance! As for employment, why don't you check out getting a job in a 1:1 shop? You may start out as an apprentice, but you CAN make money from the skills you learn building models...just a thought
  2. like your style!! love the flatblack 94 and the oldschool blazer!

    that is sooo bitchin'!!! and that ain't a lowrider-that's a Kustom!!
  4. cool artwork-love the chopper hopper!
  5. Thanks for the compliments. I just got back into building because I've got a 5 year old son. I don't have a problem with video games, but I want him to have some real skills, not just strong fingers-I just don't see much use in being a thumb-war champ! Anyways, it's something we do together, and he likes it because there's only so much he can help on with the 1:1 cars at the shop-but I gotta admit I got sucked back into the fun of this!
  6. STANCE!!!! You got it!!!! Killer job!
  7. love the tattoo checkers. great style! I'd tip my hat to you... but I don't wear a hat.
  8. I think there are only eleven women on the planet that like El Caminos, and one is your girlfriend. Of those eleven, there are only two that are hot. And your girlfriend is one of them. She's gonna love the gift! And lucky guy to have a girlfriend cool enough to drive an El Camino of all things...
  9. And there it is, a few voices of reason. I like my stuff low. Someone else likes their stuff high. Some like pork, some like fish. From what I can see, nobody ridiculed this young man into lowering it, he made his own decision. "Do yo' thang!" Oh, and remember,"If art isn't pissing somebody off, it's not doing anything"-Andy Warhol (loosely interpreted) Looks good Mookie, keep it up!
  10. Yeah, DONKs are ridiculous. and probably unsafe... but on the other hand, how many ridiculous fads have come and gone in the automotive world? Gassers (even if they are "cool") are ridiculous and pretty unsafe (and if they are safe, why do you think pro racers sit 5 inches off the ground?). How many jacked up tri-fives had ball-joint spacers, and straight axles for that matter? They all handle like elephants on stilts. A lot of people think rat-rods are pretty goofy too(note my avatar pic)-and unsafe. I agree with Cranky-if it gets kids away from x-box(or worse), let em' build what they perceive as cool. How many "adults" hated all that crazy Roth stuff in the sixties? If "adults" stopped trying to push their tastes and perceptions of cool on youths of today, you might get a few more builders to keep the hobby going. It may be a "ridiculous" fad, but the "dirty south" look is progressing into something new, the rims ain't getting smaller (deal with it-it's here just like fuel injection and on-board computers) and the cars are coming back down to mother earth. Crazy, sensory overload stuff is what gets kids' attention, and I don't see anything wrong with that. It's what's happened throughout history-rock and roll, muscle cars, whatever-there are always detractors to every fad, automotive or not. Stop trying to shove your opinions down every kid with baggy pants throat, and gain some insight to what's happening now, like it or not. You might be able to subtly influence them. Otherwise you come off like that crazy southern baptist guy from "Footloose" who outlawed dancing in his town. And to boot, you're probably driving off the only people that might keep the hobby alive... Just a little food for thought.
  11. this is awesome!! stance=A+++!!!
  12. I don't know if you have already looked into this, but here are a couple links to Ford's mid-century "cars of tomorrow" that they started to roll out in 1949 or so: http://www.examiner.com/automotive-in-kansas-city/ford-concept-cars-throughout-history-picture#slide=8394811 http://www.carstyling.ru/en/design/ http://deansgarage.com/2009/hatching-the-1955-thunderbird/ the car styling link is in russian, but google can translate it. That drawing is actually one of the early proposals for the then new 55 "Thunderbird" concept, and though it's dated Jan. 54, it was actually phased throughout 52-53. The front, if you kinda squint your eyes, has a similar profile to the 57' t-bird's bumper/grille combo. 55-57 T-Birds(at least in 1:1 scale!) all use the same chassis-the additional length of the 57 was only in the sheetmetal. Cool idea for a project, and even if you don't find any reference photos, just do what the designers did and "borrow" ideas from similar year cars!
  13. that's bitchin'!
  14. Thanks for the compliments. I'm blushin' over here. The clear is PPG concept 2042. No polishing. The trick is to spray it at 40psi, just like a 1-1 car(don't ever let anybody tell you to spray clear at lower pressure, that's how you get that fat lady's ass cellulite. 35-40 psi is perfect for high solids clearcoat. Runs are a gun adjustment issue, orange-peel is a pressure issue).
  15. all airbrushed. Decals suck!
