  1. Lessee ... "Number One Offense in the NFL" vs. "Number One Defense in the NFL". Obviously Denver was not prepared for the defensive onslaught that they would face. And give credit where it is due; Seattle's offense tore Denver's defense apart. Now Denver knows what they need to work on.

  2. Yeah the guy put himself out there, so I guess he gets his turn on the "internet barrel", nice that you're all doing it here behind his back where he can't see it tucked safely behind your keyboards. Everyone going for the Internet Bravery Merit Badge this evening?

So ... Invite him here to defend himself! I'd tell him to his virtual or actual face that while he is saying it's an "Awesome pro built Grumpy's Toy", his photos are saying "Yeah, not so much."

  3. My late wife was disabled, and used a van. We once came out of a store to find a motorcycle parked in the blue-striped area set aside for ramp access. I kicked the motorcycle down, prompting the offending owner to mouth off and threaten me. He rethought his policy once the knife came out, and I asked him if he wanted to dance. I was rather mean-spirited when faced with situations like that, and they did happen regularly. The police, when called, NEVER provided any assistance in such situations. Ultimately, I found far greater satisfaction in solving the problem myself.

Lessee ... for the crime of parking next to your van you commit vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon? You are not a person I'd want to know.

  4. It sounds like you have used up (or come very close to the limit) the allotted amount of uploaded image storage, which for each member is 48.83MB. Move your cursor over and then click the down arrow to the right of your screen name in the header bar, then click on "My Settings", then "Manage Attachments." You can then see how many attachments you've uploaded, and how much space they are using up.

Interesting. Out of curiosity I checked mine. I've used 0 bytes of my 24.41 MB allotment. So, half of what you say I have is already gone and I haven't used any of it. Could be a technical issue?

  5. Well guys, that days is here. My sister, 52 years old, is fighting her last fight. I'm preparing to leave the warmth of my home and my family to drive to a hospital an hour away to see my sister one last time. She won't know I'm there but I'll be there because my nephew will be there and he will need me. If you can, spare a kind thought or, dare I ask, a prayer. I will be kindly received. That's all I've got. Thanks for (virtually) being here.

  6. I had a storefront for over 15 years. I closed because I couldn't compete with the Walmart down the street.

I must have not been a "smart" store owner. I find that statement to be a little insulting Tom.

I guess I missed the part where Tom said Randy Earle was not a smart store owner. I've always found the"LHS can't compete with Walmart" thing to be kinda confusing. My local hobby shop is located right across the interstate from a Walmart; was for the bulk of the 13 years I worked there and still is. When Walmart actually carried models and supplies they were never competition; we went on giving exemplary customer service and carrying a full line. Meanwhile, Wally carried a dozen or so kits and a basic Testors paint rack. If you can't compete with that ... well ...

  7. Well then, I stand corrected. I'm kinda slow and I don't really understand how posts about Christmas lights, what irked you today, what people do for a living, musical groups, etc. seem to be any more "about discussing real and scale model cars and trucks" than pointing out (with illustrating photos that admittedly have shock value...that was the point after all...to get noticed and to get folks to THINK) the potentially tragic consequences of a moment's inattention, but I'll take your word for it. I guess my understanding of "Off Topic" is fatally flawed.

Imagine that, Bill; off topic in the 'Off Topic Lounge.' :P

  8. From Merriam-Webster.com:

    flout verb \ˈflau̇t\

: to break or ignore (a law, rule, etc.) without hiding what you are doing or showing fear or shame

    flaunt verb \ˈflȯnt, ˈflänt\

: to show (something) in a very open way so that other people will notice

: to show a lack of respect for something (such as a rule)

As you can see, while "flout" may be the more precise word in that context, "flaunt" (according to the second definition) would also be correct.

It's on the internet, it has to be true!
