I did a simple build of this kit, and after much deliberation and head scratching, I decided to go rat with it. The hood just seemed too.... false? I don't know the word I'm looking for but I just didn't like how it was all one piece so I "scrapped" it for a different build in the future. This build has no glass! I've seen so many pics online and throughout craigslist and similar sites with Rats for sale and a good bit had no glass so I decided to go that way with my build. The steering assembly, tie rod and shocks were a pain, but I finally got 'em in right- I used the 64 decal from the black widow chevy, the champion spark plugs decals from the same kit, and the AHRA sticker from the Don Garlits Dodge Dragster decal sheet I somehow have in my decal bag.... I don't rightly recall where I got those from. Here's the pics! aaaaand here's the best I could do to get a picture of the interior detail- I'll probably do more to this build in the future, but for now this is where it's gonna stay! Thanks for lookin!

So just to update, I ratted the willys. That build will be posted in under glass after work today. My warlord still need a color paint over the rust paint... Suggestions? Waste buggy needs paint PERIOD... It is still in primer. That happens when I cant make up my mind on a color scheme... Also, working on detail elements for my next diorama. I will eventually finish all my current projects... Before I start a new one... ...maybe. -

I suppose perhaps storage is an option... I have this feeling that I will have a model collection that resembles a museum by the time I am all done with building stuff decades from now! LOL -

It's getting to the point where I'm gonna have to either donate, trade, or sell my earlier builds if I dont find some room somewhere for 'em! It's crazy. -

FTS is an acronym for a phrase denoting how displeased the driver is with The System... if anyone was wondering about that little graphic on the side panel. "RAIN DEATH FROM ABOVE" is inscribed on the opposing side panel, and "WARLORD 14T" adorns the hood. 14T is a reference to the Army MOS 14 Tango, which dealt with a patriot missile-related job. Although this vehicle launches HELLFIRE and not PATRIOT missiles, I still think it's a relevant reference. Still got some paint to do, and tires to throw on it... So keep checkin back! -

We've got some more van progress- WARLORD 14T is nearing the completion stage, and I figured I'd get you some visuals of the interior before it's sealed away inside forever... The weapons in question are the Thompson M1, MK14 Carbine, and the Mossberg 500 shotgun. The weapons system on the rear is a hellfire missile launching apparatus. Think AGM, but launched from the back of the van. More after the break... -

Never a problem Doc! And the builds I'm doing now, the more "high quality" ones- Those are going with me Nov 10th to the ACME Southern Nats show so you will get to see them in person. -

As you guys may have noticed, this is where I start getting serious about the builds- using better parts, planning out stuff, ad making an effort all around to make better quality builds (not that I wasn't trying in the first place, but my skill has gotten TONS better over the past 6 months I've been on here...) that i plan on taking to some shows That being said, here's what I've got so far on the build I'm doing with the Vantasy kit- ...I wonder what goes in here? More on the builds as I make progress! -

Ok, progress on the Waste Buggy. It's in primer, waiting for it's paint job... but that doesn't stop it from looking awesome so far- Just a quick overview, this build has no "make, model, year" to base it on. The engine is completely parts boxed, and all the pieces are scratch built or parts boxed as well. It has a .30 cal minigun attached to it, belt fed from the rear end of the vehicle (which is also where the gas tank is housed). This was scratched from styrene rod and parts box fodder... the roof flips back (I will be putting in a hydraulic rod in the rear of the cab for open-cab shots) to allow access to the inside. I will also be putting rubber tires on after the paint job is finished. Without further adieu, here is the Waste Buggy in primer- Coming up later this evening or tomorrow- my van build.... 'til next time! -

Cool progress for Donn! Vantasy is taking shape as a mobile 'javelin missile rack' of sorts. There will be moving parts to this one. More progress after work! -

I got two kits today- Dirty Donny's Vantasy, and the 1933 Willys Coupe from AMT. Both of these will be used in TZH builds. I also have been scratching another build, under the working title of 'Waste Buggy'. It's in primer right now- but it's so dark outside from the impending thunderstorm that taking pics would do the details no justice. I will have to say, the Willys Coupe begs to be modified with all sorts of deadly things... and I can see where the good doc got all the inspiration from when he turned the Vantasy into the Sniper! Look forward to seeing a few more builds soon. -

This build is awesome. The amount of detail that you've poured into this vehicle is insane- This is my exact reaction at this very moment: ....Amazing. -

Ok, so I've gotten some progress done on the TZH dio- even though this is going to be a photo op base for any other builds it is appropriate for... The base (for now) is a sheet of styrene that will be tacked down to a piece of plywood with epoxy later on to keep it rigid. Underneath the dirt flocking is a sheet of plastruct craters, cut into sections to fit in strategic points about the base. I took some aluminum screening and put up fencing around two sides of the outpost tower, and glued down some N scale retaining walls (which actually come out to be perfect scale for regular brick in 1:24) that I busted the tops off of. I laid down a liberal portion of white glue (I have a 32oz bottle, so no worries ) about the base, covering the entire ground section. I sifted a moderate amount of my 'harvested' sand flock onto the glue, and let it sit for about 15 minutes to settle enough for the next step. I took my flat camo tan rattle can and misted the dirt until it was saturated- the pressure kicked up some spots to give the ground a rocky texture so I was happy about that- and also covered the retaining walls, barbwire, and piping with paint as well. I let it sit for a bit, then gave it a liberal coat of flat clear to hold the texture once it dried. As it was drying I sprinkled the rest of my sand flock into the crevices to add more texture. After it was dried overnight, I tilted the base in all directions to remove the excess flock. Here's what I got so far- I will be adding more detail bits here and there, some rubble, some bunches of dried grass, a tumbleweed mayhaps... And of course I have to get some figures for it. It's far from done in my eyes, but it's coming along nicely! EDIT: The vehicle in the picture is there for size comparison- 1:24 scale Toyota Sprinter Trueno- I will be using many different vehicles in this particular piece. -

I "harvested" some really good sand flock last night from across the street on the neighbor's driveway... triple-sifted it until it was nice, "clean" sand- Saved myself a good fifteen bucks at least on supplies I'd rather not buy I'll be working more on my dioramas this weekend. I'll post pics of the progress then! -

So here's 1st Cavalry outpost 404's Security Station 07309 in colors! Just to be clear, before someone starts getting on me about accuracies and whatnot, this is post apocalyptic America- I can do pretty much anything I'd like to with the military and it'd be feasible (to an extent LOL)- but here's the pics! You can ALMOST make out the M16A2 in the last pic....curses on the horrible weather today. Not enough light to see the inside of the outpost! Once I make the base for the diorama, I'll be laying down sand and ballast, and a little bit of flocking. And the other details, as well! -

My last trailer had a guard rail on the porch that was just about every color of the primer/camoflauge rainbow before I left.... also, the vinyl skirting had a nice SHINY bright white spot on it (which was funny, because the skirting is white too, but the paint was whiter) from when I dropped my full fresh rattle can of flat white and the top decided to bust wide open gotta love concrete porches. I think just about everywhere I've lived, I've left evidence of my modelling activities.... good thing I now use a paint stand
