  1. Notice the tools and spent casings in the bed- I'm still working on the ammo box, bumper stickers, spray paint tags, and some farm chemical bags or sand bags.... and the beer cans. I might also throw in a grenade box somewhere. I've got a Navy Colt revolver and a sawed off 12 gauge scratched up as well, but they're waiting on a paint job before i place them in the truck somewhere. More progress as it comes!
  2. Ok, I didn't finish up what I wanted on this build, so I will just give you some progress on it. It's mostly done, just needs some more 'personality' details before I call it done- more past the break...
  3. Dang, I missed the opportunity to be original with a pun about the blades.... Oh well, it's still an awesome concept Donn! Keep it up!
  4. I seem to do that a lot, but the only difference is I usually do it on purpose It just comes naturally for me, I can't seem to do "Box Stock". It goes against some ingrained thought process hidden deep in my gray matter to do something just like it's 'supposed to be'. Makes for some fun builds though! Also cuts down on paint job disappointments
  5. So, I sit here lookin at the several random bits in my boxes, and my collection of interesting things I've made in between kits using old sprues, model bits, and some imagination... and I start wondering. How many of you use your scraps in little "fidgety" projects that you just come up with out of the blue... no planning, no direction until you've gone halfway through the project, just putting solvent to plastic and seeing where it goes from there? I do it all the time, in fact a good bit of my fine detail pieces I use in the builds I do use the techniques and ideas I come up with during "fidgeting" time. I'll post some examples in photo form later on when I take my photos this weekend so you can see what I come up with, but please do share your stuff with us in the mean time!
  6. Ok folks! It's officially the weekend- and that means I'll be taking some pictures tomorrow at some point, and you'll get to see some more progress on my builds. Speaking of progress, has anyone started on their build just yet?
  7. Another update before bed- I've got the gun, bench, and flag all painted up and installed, along with the loose tools and spent casings in the bed- Now I'm jst working on figuring out how to scratch up some crumpled beer cans, and working on mapping out some bumper stickers that would be appropriate for the build. I'm scratching myhead on how I'm gonna make the cans look like PBR cans after I make 'em... and I'm also thinking about throwing a grain bag or soil bag somewhere in the back too... this WAS a farm truck at one point, so I'm trying to throw in elements of that as well as make it look believable as a militant vehicle from the deep south. Toss out some ideas, maybe I'll use 'em!
  8. Ok so No pictures just yet, but I do have a quick update. I went with a WW3 approach on the Syclone technical- the drivers are some good ol' boys from the south, who decided to join the fight and defend their land from the enemy forces. The basic Idea is a converted farm work truck- it will still have some tools and whatnot laying in the bed, as well as a bench for the gunner that was built using "redneck ingenuity". It is armed with a tripod mounted .50cal MG. I printed up a confederate flag for the "flying colors" on this rig- I'm also in the process of finding some way to scratch some crumpled beer cans, spent .50 casings, and some small arms to lay in the passenger seat of the cab. ...what I wouldn't give for some appropriately themed 1:25 scale figures for this one.... Anywho, I'm also thinking up spray paint "tags" and redneck type stickers/decals for the truck... If anyone's got some ideas, shoot 'em my way!
  9. Awesome builds everyone! Ive been absent from the fray for a while (real life took a turn for the better and I got a nice full time job to go to 5 days a week) but rest assured I've got some stuff in store that you'll all love. Once I finish the MG for the back of my technical on the other CBP I've got going
  10. It's been a few days, and we finally got internet back up- I'll be taking pictures this weekend when I'm off again. My dad moved one of the sheds in the back yard so I've got a real nice dirt plot photo op I can stick some scenery in and take some pics of the new Syclone build and the other two technicals in "action". unfortunately, it won't looks as realistic, seeing as how there's no figures in them.
  11. Ok so my internet is down so posting photos is unable to happen til further notice... But I have gotten some progress on the gmc done. Pretty much fully built, just waiting until I get the weapon built and the finishing touches on the weathering. ...anyone else got something done to share?
  12. This project it amazing. Makes me think I might have a snowball's chance in hell at scratchbuilding a 1991 Toyota Camry DX (my 1:1 car) one day. Your work is insanely good. Your attention to detail is even better. I'm following this one! I can't wait to see the finished results!
  13. Now you've done it! LOL Harry's gonna go find it now that you've let the cat out of the bag J/K.... Good find though!
  14. Getting the Syclone kit on Wednesday, but unfortunately I will be out of town for work training Monday til possibly Saturday- and I can't very well pack up my bench and take it with me to my hotel Thanks again to Olskoolrodder for sending that kit to me. Any progress from anyone? It's been a bit quiet for a day or two
  15. We can always use more builders in this thread! More people building means more awesome pics to look at. You should post the vehicles you've built so far thanks to the thread, Kyle!
  16. That's a dilemma we all face- lack of g-scale or 1:24 figures. try ulrich mini-men, they're basics and need putty filling on the joints, but it's a start. also, Sixx is working on some zombie figs to start casting.dunno how long he's gonna be on that though
  17. I'm kind of on stand-still at the moment... so no worries just yet I will, however, be back on in full steam once I get paid again in a month. Doesn't mean I can't finish up the ones I need to finish... lol. Also, Curt Lee,(my dad) has two submissions. He just hasn't posted them because they're collaboration builds and I've posted them in progress a little bit ago. They haven't gotten names yet though.
  18. Good work! Look forward to seeing more from you. I think Cranky'll love this one.
  19. ...Let's just say there's a reason I don't toss out my kit boxes. That, and I have toolboxes, tackleboxes... and I still don't have enough space. I eventually end up thinning out my scraps and spares. That takes a full afternoon of sitting in the middle of the floor with piles of stuff around me, sorting it all into boxes or the trash box. ...I do this maybe once a month?
  20. That's one heck of a neat rail gun, man! Makes me want to start building scifi military stuff from scratch again....
  21. So, I was thinking. Just out of randomness, and the fact that it would coincide with my career- Instead of a pest control truck or van, I could make a zombie control truck or van. Same basic concept of pest control, but with bullets and flamethrowers rather than bait and insecticide.... ...I thought it was funny.
  22. Ford builds always make my day. Good job! I love the details, especially the tool storage behind the seat!
  23. Just goes to show that you never know when your pest control guy is eyeing your model collection with glee.... ...I've yet to run across a modeler on my rounds though. I guess all the paint fumes and solvent glue keeps the pests at bay!
  24. I have to say, I dig the flat red color myself Very nice build, Rusty!
