CORDVETTE!...A Modern Classic. Update: 9-16-12
ZombieHunter26 replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Ira, buddy, pal... You have just inspired my next clean build. I'll have to see what I can come up with in the future, but I'm digging the concept. It all rides on what I will be able to get my hands on, but I am definitely going to try my hand at something like this. Great work, and keep it going! Can't wait to see it in it's finished, polished, and colorful stage! -
2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
ZombieHunter26 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Well, once this one's painted, I'm pretty much out of stuff to build with, unless I find some way to melt down all my sprues and make a mold of an interior piece, body, or chassis >.< I mean, this kind of situation makes me think harder and become alittle more creative... but even -my- 'gizmology' can only go so far. Thanks for all the looks and comments, and hopefully I can find some way to get back in on another build soon after I paint the J-Rod. PS- Doc, You should see my entire music collection, there's something for everything in there! -

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
ZombieHunter26 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I decided I'd explain the inside joke between my buddy and I about the name 'J-Rod'. In the process of building this one, my buddy and I are going back and forth on youtube with music, and he lands on 'Jesus built my Hotrod' by Ministry. He made the point that it -is- the apocalypse, so it would fit. Me being tired, I kind of agreed, then I never decided on anything else. Thus, the J-Rod was built. -
2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
ZombieHunter26 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
This post will be pictures of the J-Rod in primer. Just a quick synopsis on this build- It's built entirely from my parts box, stock styrene leftovers, some Green Stuff, and some MEK solvent (I ran out of plastruct plastic weld). The idea is basically a street runner, high speed, powered by hydrogen. It uses a chain-fed drivetrain for the 4WD system. No weapons as of yet, but that could all change later. hope ya like it. -
2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
ZombieHunter26 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
So a quick update- I'm pretty broke at the moment, so i'm without random kit money. The current project is entirely parts box built. Also, it will be the last project I can build until I fall into some extra cash somewhere. It's currently drying outside on the paint-board, and unfortunately I had to primer it in flat black -enamel- (ran out of my specialty camoflauge ultra flat black acrylic spray :\ ) so it's going to be a bit before I can bring it in for photos. The working name for this build is the J-Rod. (inside joke between my buddy and I, who was watching me build it today...) It's pretty minimalist, but it doesn't lack in creativity. ...I'll be posting pics once the primer dries. -
Taking pictures of your models
ZombieHunter26 replied to Jairus's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Just to add to the fray, I would just like to point out that my photo source is a shabby ZTE android phone. No focus, no light correction, so EVERYTHING has to be done post-shoot for me. If you wonder why I go so long without posts, then flood whichever thread I'm posting in with pics, that's why. I edit mine in batches, and even then, I'm better at ART work, not tweaking for fine detail. ....I'd love me one of them Canon Powershots, Doc. All the details I pour into my builds would LOVE to be seen finally -
My AWESOME haul today

By god, there's that SUPERVAN again- Horrible movie, but pretty neat lookin' kit!! Good job on the score, buddy! -
broken windshield repair attempt
ZombieHunter26 replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
On the subject of broken windshields, they make the perfect subjects for aged and/or damaged builds. Take the windshield on my sort-of-recent '72 Olds build- Got super glue, solvent glue, and clearcoat runoff on it- so I just cut the glue blemish out, busted it up a bit with some cracks, and voila! It had purpose again. Then again, it'd only work if that was what you wanted to do with your build :/ -

110 people in this build! I remember when this was just a post in general topics- we had maybe a few interested. It's EXPLODED since then. I can't wait to see what it's gonna be like in little over nine months.... I'd just like to take this opportunity to say GREAT JOB EVERYONE! I am proud to be a part of this. To quote someone from a whiiiiiile back in the post history- I believe we're breaking a record somewhere. Keep up all the great work everyone. I'll be back in the fray once I get a few more kits! -
The as-of-yet-unnamed Rat Rod project.
ZombieHunter26 replied to ZombieHunter26's topic in WIP: Model Cars
LOL doc, you spelled it right. Also, it's done for -now-.... until I can think of more to add. I will be aging it once I'm happy with it. I still need to add head/tail lights, a few more details paint/decal-wise, and I'm thinking of putting in some custom bone-shapes on some of my struts. I'm probably going to be putting a custom body on it much later once I get some more Plastruct Plastic Weld, and some mini-drill tools. I'm planning on riveting the roof to the frame. I need to grab some hex rod from the LHS first. Slowly but surely, Bare Bonez will ride into the wastes! -

Wiring is done, radiator housing is up, and decals are applied- Had to steel the tires off of Die-ora, I was assuming I had tires in my stash but I was wrong. I will be taking better pics later, but for now here's some pics to keep ya interested. more past the break.... -

Not sure if you could make it out, but I scratchbuilt an ignition switch into the steering column and added a 'keychain' .... I will have to get my friend to take better pics with his camera (professional type stuff, I'm a tad jealous) because his camera can pick up all that small detail. -

Sorry for the fuzz, it's late and my natural light source is kaput until tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions and kind words- I'll get some more done in a bit! -

ZombieHunter26 replied to ZombieHunter26's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I've added some more detail bits, the radiator housing is drying in primer as I post this- I made a slight mistake on the satin clearcoat- and it ended up clouding a little... but then I looked at it closer and found that it fit one of the many ideas I had mulling around. As you will see, the clouded silver and white give almost a bone-like feel to this rod. So, in going with the look for the name, I've decided on BARE BONEZ. It works in a few ways, for one it's nearly bare bones body and chassis, as well as the skull on the back, and the coloring. Im searching my decal collection for some good decals (i already put a speedometer decal on the 'instrument panel'- ) but for now I leave you with basecoat and some details. more past the break... -

ZombieHunter26 replied to ZombieHunter26's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm thinking of a color scheme for it after I finish the radiator housing (and possibly a grille)- I'm thinking the name shall come to me after I get some colors onto it. Or, I might leave it up to you guys for 'open suggestions' I also need to find some semblance of a rear bumper. We'll see how it goes together! -

I havent quite decided just yet. I think i have a grille somewhere in my parts boxes- whether or not it will be fitting is another story. -

Some clean styrene pics as you can see, it's put together mostly. I'm keeping it open 'cockpit'. looks cooler to me -
I'm building my first Rat Rod, from scratch. My parts box, styrene rods, and imagination are the only kit provided. I'll post pics when it starts taking somewhat of a recognizable shape- It's going to be a single seater... other than that I can't really tell ya much. I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes!
