  1. Meet our trusty gunner and friend to our resistance fighter! And of course, the resistance fighter himself! I had some fun building this one. But don't think I'm done! I still need to set the scene for this one... with a diorama!! BWAHAHAHAAAAAAA! ...Yes, I am just a little crazy methinks. 'til next time!!
  2. Hard to believe it, but there are STILL MORE!
  3. You know me, I still have plenty more pics...
  4. Now it's time for the real submission- (one of many to come in the following weeks, months, until I can no longer build!) This piece is a true testament to post-apocalypse scratching- if it were in 1:1 scale, this thing would be built from anything and everything our scrappy little resistance fighter and his buddy could find (including a turbine, engineered to turn a drive shaft with massive force)... Since this particular vehicle has no REAL source(the body was a random stock car body base, 'welded' to the roof section of a chevy van) of a brand or make/model, it is known only by its callsign- 842 GRIEVOUS WOUND. 842 Grievous Wound is powered by a re-purposed jet turbine engine, mounted with a 30cal GAU 17 minigun in the rear, and sports a nasty spike rail chained and welded to the front. There are no 'ground level' doors, the entrance is through a porthole in the roof. No glass or breakables to be found, even the windshield is removed in favor of woven steelcord mesh. 842 Grievous Wound has 3 fuel drums- two welded into the rear totalling 110 gallons, and a reserve drum up top which carries 25 gallons. When it was first constructed, our resistance fighter spray painted "GET SOME" on the driver side panel, but age, rust, and grit have nearly washed it out. Enough talk, here's the pics! More past the break...
  5. Okay kiddies! It's eye-candy time. Let's start this out with the Dodge Die-ora, sans windshield, complete with hellfire missile pods and 55gal nitro drum. The purpose of this wonderful (and unfortunately suicidal) vehicle is simple- destroy EVERYTHING in its path, get to its target in the quickest time possible, and explode car-bomb style with a massive nitro blast. Last-ditch effort, in fact, to take out enemy caravans or large hordes of zombies. I tried to get the 'SAVE GAS BURN NITRO' sticker on the drum, but it's a bit too small I think. This isn't your everyday driver, it's basically a one-time 'martyr' vehicle when things seem to be at their very worst... ...and only the most drastic measure will work to provide for the greater good. Without further delay, the DODGE DIE-ORA! More past the break...
  6. Just got the tires and spike rack attached, waiting on the last rustwash layer to dry before giving it a mist of scorched brown to break up the solid bits -just a tad-... Then it's photo takin' time!
  7. Now THAT'S something I would have never thought of! Very nice!
  8. can't wait to get the wheels and spike rack fixed and painted on the main vehicle... Just looking at my rust job on the body makes me hope my tetanus shots are up to date
  9. It may take a bit of time, but I could suggest a technique. If you have it lying about, take some plaster of paris and aquarium pebbles (this site http://www.purewater...com/coated.html has all sorts of colors you could mix for effect) and make a base from it. make your base, section off the areas you need cobblestoned, and layer about 1/8th of an inch thick with the mixed plaster. evenly disperse the pebbles over the plaster, pressing them into it as you go. try to keep the surface even, no jagged points sticking up, and let dry. if you find that the color doesn't suit the effect you want, primer coat it with a light earth tone, and give it a flat clear coat once dry. once that's dry, you can give it varying coats of darker earth tone washes. It's a long shot, but with some practice and some patience, you can make your own cobblestone streets.
  10. Thanks Doc! As i was saying, the Die-ora was a quick slap-job to warm up for the real thing... and unfortunately my Gasser had to take a long trip to the back burner until I can come across the proper pieces... I went to Wallyworld earlier only to be severely disappointed in their selection of toys to part out, but they redeemed themselves by finally carrying FLAT CLEARCOAT. I'll finally get to show a good usage of my personal rustwash concoction soon... Once I get a halftrack and suitable tires on the main vehicle.
  11. OH! Before I forget- I had to heavily modify one of my pilots. Let's just say he's about 45% modeler's clay now. Turned out well enough though.... Sorry for the blurriness, the Hi-Res cam is in the pawn shop...
  12. Ok, I'll post some finished pics later, but for now... Have a sneak peek at my REAL submission. I mentioned a turbine engine some time ago, right? More to come, after I get some more work done.
  13. Blood Spatter detail for the the underside of the chassis R.I.P. (for now) Military Gasser GOT MORE! I take WAY too many pics sometimes.
  14. Die-ora progress... More past the break...
  15. So. I found the USB cable. Finally. To start, I'll show you some raw material pics (to be fair, I started around Jan 4th but I was prepared!) Now to get to the better stuff... in the next post.
  16. So, I decided to scrap the military gasser for the moment. Lack of tires, proper engine, and whatnot. The windshield on the Die-ora got knocked loose by my clamp stand some time during the day... I think the cat may have knocked it over. SOOOoooo..... I may be doing the Die-ora windshield differently, seeing as how the model's 'stock' glass doesn't quite fit the build anyhow. The as-of-yet-unnamed submission is coming along nicely however- just have to find some Hotchkiss suspension pieces in my scraps, or scratchbuild them. I still have the problem of having small passenger tires, whereas I need LT tires (and a halftrack, but those are a pain in the neck to scratchbuild.). The engine isn't an issue luckily. I'm thinking futuristic on the guts, perhaps some sort of turbine. ...I am still missing that USB cable.
  17. I had a mind to begin with? I'm also going mad trying to find a chassis to fit my most recently started submission. The first two were just quick throw-togethers. This third one though... is the serious one
  18. LOL Rodney! I went through a workbench cleaning spree yesterday and now it could be in one of many spots (hopefully not in the trash on accident...). Once I get it though, it'll be uploading time!
  19. I'm a little ticked that I can't find my USB cable. I've nearly finished the Die-ora and Military Gasser.... And am in the middle of yet another submission as well. All of which I've been having a blast with. ...where is my dang USB cable???
  20. Resistance is futile. You WILL be assimilated.
  21. these are all some very very good ideas... I'm gonna have to get in that box and sort through the ones I'll keep or toss, then. thanks guys! oh, and feel free to keep posting ideas, it's awesome to see them.
