  1. Build is finished, save for a little polishing up later. I'm gonna be taking it over to my Dad's place and letting him give it a look in person before I post the final pics up.
  2. I will be taking some better pics of the finished build. I'm working with a small screen 5 mpixel camera at close range at the moment... it's hard to get the good details right now. My larger scale diorama didn't have this problem, as the details were larger, and could be seen a bit further away. I understand that the pics are crappy at the moment, but I promised interior pics before final assembly. The end result pics will be better quality.
  3. Really? No one wants to comment? I mean I enjoy building for the sake of building... but it's nice to see what people think.
  4. Better shot of the decal work- I actually layered the decals because the GT 500 on the red stripes were too dark to show, and I -really- wanted the red stripes. Overhead rear shot. Hood. I was delighted to find that the rectangular area I needed to cut out to allow clearance for the Cobra Jet's big ol' air cleaner was pre-etched... making it a little simpler to keep my lines straight and my placement true. And before anyone asks, I will not be adding a hood scoop because A: The kit didn't come with one and I don't feel like scratchbuilding one and B: I think the air cleaner looks better out in the open, in all of its shiny chrome glory. That's about it for now, I'll try to take better pics for the final assembled piece. 'til next time!
  5. Body shots Jet Black with silver trim, lettering, and door handles. I think there's a few more stashed somewhere...
  6. Underside of chassis, showing drybrushed details and finer engine details. A few more to go...
  7. Cobra Jet 428 engine with chassis and tires. Still more coming...
  8. I'll apologize in advance for the fuzziness of the pics, but you'll get a good idea of what I'm doing Interior, crimson floor panels and steering wheel, deep red upholstery inlaid on black leather, brushed silver instrument panel, custom orange lit radio buttons, and custom green lit gauges. More past the break...
  9. Look for photos to be up some time later in the night. Engine/Chassis is built, Interior is built, and the body has been given its pre-decal/fine detail coat. I will be posting pics of all the separate sections so you can see the full details before final assembly and chrome pieces. I should be finished with this build later tonight or early tomorrow Now to think up a name for this custom build.......
  10. I took some photos with my wife's phone, only to find that the resolution doesn't do my paint job justice. I've completely assembled and painted the engine, and the interior. the body and hood are primed. I will be borrowing my dad's camera hopefully tomorrow so I can get some pics up. (I work fast, so I find it hard to keep it slow so I can give you WIP pics >.< ) I promise I wont finish the assembly before you get to see the separate sections and the detail on them. On a related note: The interior color scheme is crimson, black, silver, with orange and green custom instrument panel lighting. I'm still cooking up an awesome body paint job
  11. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with
  12. MMM. Now that's a sexy drag car. Speaking of, I also decided to go with the Cobra engine build. Much more powerful. I need to take some pics of the engine once I get it assembled and painted.
  13. post away, I'd love to see em. I've decided to go shiny, but not the tradition 'out of the box' shiny. I'm thinking "I just got a whole ton of money, and the real '68... and I'm gonna customize!" kind of shiny. I'll start posting pics as I go.
  14. Yeah, it makes me want to primer it out already... but some assembly, sanding, and bur/excess mold plastic removal first... I'm thinking of this as a test of my patience LOL. The lime green hurts the eyes almost...
  15. Late Xmas gift from my wife: Can't decide between shiny or post-apoc build contest... decisions. Skill level 3, produced from vintage tooling. I can choose to build stock or drag body, and stock or cobra engine. Thoughts?
  16. No, but I highly doubt a future car will be made that makes me get as excited and drooly as this one... Some may come close..... but won't take the cake.
  17. By now, a few of you know my preference for Ford. Now, I give you my all-time favorite car, ever made, or ever ever WILL be made- The 1968 Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500. I think the video will give you the rundown better than I can. ENJOY!
  18. A few of us might be willing to help you with your 'overstock'
  19. Our kids got a lot of stuff, us adults on the other hand were a little skimpy. That's ok though, we got to actually sleep in this year instead of waking up at 4am for gifts so that's christmas enough for us I guess lol
  20. I know this has NOTHING to do with models- BUT. This is my Xmas gift to all of you- http://soundcloud.com/further-machinations/future-funk-oddysey This just so happens to be another one of my hobbies, making music! Enjoy, and happy holidays guys!
  21. Water is a much safer alternative, and I would recommend you to use that technique over the one I use if you have the patience for it. Water by itself will work wonderfully, but much slower.
  22. It would be easier, but I was sharing an easy way to do it with stuff around the house. Not knocking those who choose to put money down on it, I was just giving an alternative to those who could do it safely and wanted to save a buck or two. Plus, I thought it was cooler than anything to watch the process go down... it's kind of awesome knowing my high school chemistry class didn't go to waste LOL. I will post up some pics, next time I make some(I am running just a tad low on wash), because when I made this it was back when I was without my camera. ::EDIT:: While this technique DOES produce a fine rust powder, I keep it immersed in a small amount of water to use it for rust "runoff" for industrial scenes, as well as a more even coating for a true "gunky, rusty" feel. It's a bit of a process, but I do everything I can on the cheap until I get back into some finances.
