  1. Building several things at once....

  2. Yeah, I can see where you're gettin' at. I went on a workbench cleaning spree today, to find I had more trash than model parts laying about cluttering my work area. Before, it looked like Hurricane Katrina came through my workspace.... now, it's nice and organized with plenty of room for building again. (although, I'm not sure how long that will last...) I've got plenty of plastic rods and tubes that I've salvaged from other sources, so I think I'll probably toss the box of empty sprues ...In the long run I'll probably thank myself. LOL
  3. Just a random question, but how many of you actually keep your empty sprues? I have a ton of 'em, and I'm thinking about tossing them. Just wondering if there's a way to use them (other than scratchbuilding frames and whatnot, I have plenty of framework stuff to use) or if they're trash bin fodder? Let's hear your ways of using them!
  4. Once I can find my USB cable, I'll have some pics to show
  5. I like it. I think it's just fine with those barrels- But! It's all about if YOU like 'em that way
  6. Heheheheheheheeeee..... One of my many ideas (most of which I will be submitting) is just TOO cheesy yet superbly awesome to pass up- The Dodge Die-ora! BWAHAHAHAAAAA! I need to lay off the caffeine... ZombieHunter OUT.
  7. Ah, thank GOD because I have the PERFECT project coming along.
  8. ...I now regret getting ahead of myself last night. I started mocking up pieces, and before I knew it my glue bottle got a mind of it's own and started putting pieces together on it's own! I guess I'll just have to start a whole new piece?
  9. Somebody pass the eye bleach... Because what has been seen cannot be unseen. How many drugs were the creators of Supervan on?
  10. The italian job. 1969. Taking Austin Coopers into places never meant to see vehicular traffic. "Your only supposed to blow the bloody DOORS off!" Great Michael Caine quote. The remake was OK... But the original takes the cake.
  11. As far as screen names go, I use it as kind of a 'trademark' now.... See my post about my 1968 shelby gt500, near the end. It looks a bit cooler than just saying 'by rob lee'
  12. I see no problem with giving my real name. In fact, I feel more comfortable when people call me by my given name, instead of my faceless screen name. This is also why my facebook is also linked in my profile info, if someone wants to keep up outside of MCM. Some of you act like a bunch of paranoid freaks, I swear! I'm as paranoid as the next guy, but that's why my 9mm is always within reasonable reach of my trigger hand. A name is a name is a name. It's the rules, follow 'em or get locked out. ......at least he's not asking for your SSN!
  13. Cranky, where didja go? My fingers are getting twitchy waiting to start building!
  14. I try explaining how models work to my stepson and even show him the instructions for the two I've gotten so far.... he doesn't seem to -quite- understand the concept... However! It is much easier to explain a kit to a him than try to explain geometry and measurements for scratchbuilding to a 7 year old. Hopefully one day he will understand what I'm trying to teach him well enough for him to sit with me and build something. As for touchy-touchy? I'm with my Dad on that- certain ones can be handled... as long as I am RIGHT THERE. I absolutely do not let any small hands near my work table though... too many small parts and sharp edges for them to be around.
  15. *breath*....You don't know the POWAH of the DARK SIDE.... *breath*
  16. You ain't the only one. I'm about to go nuts. I wanna start NOW, but Cranky said we gotta wait for the rules and whatnot to be posted. I built an entire 1968 Shelby GT500 level 3 amt kit to pass the time... and now that it's done I'm dying to build something else...
  17. I washed the piece, primed it in ultra flat camo black (rust-oleum), then drybrushed it with silver acrylic miniature figure paint. I gave it a satin clear coat (krylon). for the gas tank, flatbrushed it with silver and chipped a few bits to give it a dirty look. the rear axle housing was painted in a red ink wash, to give age to the color. I made it look as though it was restored, but not by a -complete- professional. Think of finding this in someone's garage, and it had been a on-going project for them. And thanks for the pointers! I ran out of black pigments for my black wash, so it will be a bit before I can touch it up... but for the most part Black Venom is done.
  18. Thanks guys. I usually don't work THIS fast, but I guess kit building is a lot easier than scratchbuilding (all the parts are there in the kit) so it takes me less time. I will have to take a good bit of time on my next kit.... just to see if I can make it even better. The awesome thing about this build? It was my first kit build. AND it was level 3. And I'm now addicted to em.
  19. Thanks to the wife for finding the high res camera hiding under a bunch of junk. She is a LIFESAVER.
  20. Under the skirt.... Few more to go...
  21. You know me, still got a good bit more to come!
  22. Still more to come...
  23. Time for the REAL eyecandy! Meet BLACK VENOM, the 1968 Shelby Cobra Mustang GT500. She's a sexy, sexy lady. More after the break...
