I've decided to give out a hint. Armor+Utility Sedan=Paladin Seeing as how I figure at least ONE of you out there know that paladins are destroyers of the undead and upholders of the law (in the realm of fantasy RPG at least)... ...I'm sure someone will be able to at least get a general idea of my secret build ...I am having loads of fun with this one too, and that's saying something since I already have lots of fun with my normal builds! -

Alright, so I've got the comm vehicle in the last stages. Detail paint, a little weathering, and some more decals... then it's done. The build I've got in store after the comm vehicle is going to be pretty interesting- it'll be just for fun, and it's kind of an experiment for me. it's a mix between 1:48 and 1:25, and it has no 'practical' application. It's just gonna look cool. I'll be keeping the progress pics of it under wraps, as a special treat when I unveil it. More to come on the flip side folks, I'm hitting the sack. -

So far Super Bowl shift has not killed me... We weren't as slammed as we thought we would be. So I might get some build time in tonight! The comm vehicle is in primer, ready for basecoats and drybrushing. After that I will be digging into the tamiya tank kit and the black widow kit for a special project! Til next time... -

So, here is my living will just in case Super Bowl Sunday shift (aaaaaalllllllll daaaaaaaaaayyyyy LOOOOOONG) succeeds in giving me an aneurysm from all the mindless BS I'm gonna deal with along with non-stop go go go from minute one til waaaaay into the late night- Take my models and all my parts, and finish them, good doctor! ....just kidding- I won't really die... ...but I am definitely NOT looking forward to tomorrow. Good night boils and ghouls, I'll try to get SOMETHING done build-wise in the next few days. -

Hi-ho, Hi-ho, it's off to work I go.... That's right, I'm getting sucked in again- But! That's okay. I'll be back sometime tonight to (hopefully) share some more stuff. What did you guys think of my Red Hawk progress on page 57? -
I remember the library of old mags. ESPECIALLY the awesome POPULAR SCIENCE ones from waaaaay back. I got a LOT of inspiration and imaginative ideas from reading those things. ...I now start to wonder what would have happened had I read those old Hanes manuals as avidly... On a different topic, I'm gonna have to take a look at that build next time I pop by

On second though, I'll wait to prime this next one... it's hard to pick out any details as most if not all of it is made from white styrene pieces -

SO, I am off work early!!! You know what this means. PIC SPAM. Lots of it, gotta make up for lost time! My first set is gonna be my progress on Red Hawk. Still waiting on decals, but here's what I got so far. Overhead on the Cockpit front view sans full cockpit and armor yes, he has real cloth harness straps! more past the break... -
So, I don't have any pics to show of this kit, but if you've been to the stores lately you've at least run across it. I got this kit in hopes that it would be an exhilarating build, something to pick my imagination, and make me feel accomplished afterwards. I got none of these feelings. From the removal of the box cover forward, I was immensely disappointed. First off, the plastic it's molded in is terrible. It's molded in black ??styrene?? (god knows it didn't FEEL like styrene), the parts are highly inaccurate and the engine assembly required little to no effort- mainly because it was pretty much horribly made. Heck, the belt assembly was molded in chrome and half of it didn't even have an attachment to the engine. Final assembly of the engine left me wanting. Lack of detail parts, a single-molded chassis/exhaust system, and poorly fitting pieces left me annoyed more than a few times. In short, it felt like I was building a snap-tite kit that needed glue. That's how simplistic this kit was. I managed to throw it together for the 2012 Post-Apoc CBP, barely. If you're looking to build a gasser, get the actual '55 Gasser model (don't waste your cash on the "Street Machine"), or go out and buy the Revell Special Edition 2-n-1 '57 Chevy 150 Utility Sedan 'Black Widow' kit. Open box on the Black Widow left me awash in relief. Plenty of parts, options, and details, details, DETAILS. This is purely opinion on my part, of course. I did NOT enjoy building the Street Machine as much as I'd like to have. If you've built it with better results, post 'em up! I'd like to see. Anywho. Just a heads up if you haven't bought/built this kit yet. Be prepared for plenty of annoyance.

A Plea for a RUST ONLY Section!
ZombieHunter26 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What's with all the hostility? Last I checked we all had a right to be here. Did something change overnight? I have noticed a lot of negativity towards Virgil from a lot of sources (and not just this thread mind you).... for what? One of you mentioned his persona to be false and overdone like WWE wrestlers are... i'd like to know how? Virgil, along with quite a few other people, enjoy building things like this. How does making a 'brand name' make him a bad guy? He has a following. What he does warrants the brand name. I chalk -some- of this negativity up to envy. But why be envious? Virgil is highly talented and shares his knowledge and experience freely. And for those that want a more in depth guide, he wrote one! He does a lot for this hobby. Stop the senseless attacks... they only serve to make the attacker seem shortsighted and stubborn. Although Virgil is a friend, I look up to him- And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Arguing about techniques and build styles and finishes is kind of like arguing about Apple or PC. It gets nowhere because there are benefits and drawbacks to all of it It all depends on personal taste. -
A Plea for a RUST ONLY Section!
ZombieHunter26 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeez... I go to work and the thread blows up! And to think that this started with a text message o.O; I honestly think the new section would help shine some light on this particular genre of building. To be frank, I rarely build anything that shines. Of course, that's not to say that I don't enjoy shiny, I just prefer to build my models either 'driven' or aged as I see every day IRL. I spent a good three years collectively making a living beneath a car. And a great deal of my childhood around my dad's old cars watching him fix em up. I build what I see, what I remember, and what comes from pure imagination. I vote wholeheartedly for the new section... as its been said, its not to divide but rather to bring this genre into the light a little more. I would not be as avid as i am with my builds or posts were it not for mr. Virgil's already having started up the whole rust interest on the forum. His builds made me more comfortable sharing my own work... think what a section set aside for weathering would do? None of us are enemies, although some of you out there may think differently. MCM is a big ol' family gathering- I check up everyday just to see what's up! So let's not treat this like a slap in the face. Til next time! -

Maybe if you ask nicely he will share his thoughts on it! Lol. Til next time..... -
