  1. Yep... another "moldy oldie!" No WIP this time. This is the old 1/16 Aurora kit from the "American Classics" series. You've seen my other posts of kits from this series... Rambler, curved-dash Olds, Buick, etc. Like those kits, this one is highly simplified with many details missing... like no dash gauges or details at all! And it's a curbside... nothing under the hood. Which is no great loss, as all that was under the hood of the real car was a big round boiler. The actual "engine" is mounted just in front of the rear axle and looks like a big round can...no real detail on the outside. I added a lot of stuff to this model that wasn't in the box. Let's see... what did I do... • Added missing brake linkages. • Added all dash details (scratchbuilt gauges and valves, etc.) • Scratchbuilt front fender stays placed in the correct position. • Scratchbuilt front axle/tie rod/spindles/linkages to allow for posable steering • Reworked all springs and added mounting plates, U-bolts, and "nuts" made of hex-shaped styrene rod • Scratchbuilt spring mounts • Scratchbuilt steering column and all hand controls • "Stanley" logo on the hood found online, colored/sized in Photoshop, printed out, etc. Plus more... can't remember it all. Anyway... on to the pix...
  2. This is deja vu all over again. I remember seeing this one a few weeks ago,
  3. Don't know what to say to that except... thank you.
  4. Barry, Robin, Maurice.... and Geoff?
  5. This week's car is a 1934-40 Rytecraft Scoot-a-car. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rytecraft Who got it right: sjordan2 wisdonm BeeGee MikeMc otherunicorn Frank bbsbase
  6. I have no secrets to share. It's just spray paint, right out of the can. No polishing, no clear coat... just paint. I keep things simple.
  7. Exactly. That's why I said I have no way of reposting the WIP. Everything after Nov. 25 is gone.
  8. Most of it was lost when the site was moved to the new server. I have no way of getting it back.
  9. Unless we move the site again. Kidding!!!!
  10. Lost in the server move, so I'm reposting it. As always... don't post any hints or answers here. PM me with year, make, and model. Everyone who already answered before the server move and the lost posts, I still have your answers. The answer, and who got it right, coming FRIDAY!
  11. You're a little late to the party. We moved the site to another server, and all posts made between Nov. 26-Dec. 8 were lost.
  12. Yes, it's gone. But we can rebuild.
  13. Thanks, Carl Just trying to find the easiest way for us to fill in the lost posts. Makes sense to me that we all can do our part and repost whatever was lost.
  14. Another victim of our server move and lost, so I'm reposting. Most of the WIP is lost, so no use directing you there to look at it. Here is the finished product...
  15. One of the "lost posts," so I'm reposting. Unfortunately most of the WIP was lost during our server move, so I won't direct you there, but here is the finished product...
  16. The lost posts (basically everything posted between Nov. 26-Dec. 8) are gone. It's not financially reasonable to try and retrieve them. So... if any of you posted stuff that you want to see again, please repost your topic again. We can "recover" our lost posts if we all just repost what's gone. That's the easiest way to get the lost posts back.
  17. I'm putting this here and also in Off Topic, so hopefully many of you will see it.
  18. You know, after the hassle of stringing those wheels, the end result doesn't really look all that much better than molded wire wheels do, especially when painted black, which tends to hide the out-of-scale thickness of most molded wire wheels.. Stringing those wheels was a lot of effort for minimal impact if you ask me.
  19. Foose? No way. 50's era T-bird? Way too modern a car for me!
  20. If you remember Stuck in the Middle, you should remember Star... it came out a year later.
  21. I have the largest collection of sea shells on earth. Perhaps you've seen it... I keep it on beaches all over the world... Lately I'm into abstract painting... really abstract. No canvas, no brushes, no paint... I just think about it... I went to a restaurant that serves breakfast any time. So I ordered French toast during the Renaissance... I was in a general store once. They wouldn't let me buy anything specific... For my birthday I got a humidifier and a dehumidifier... I put them in the same room and just let them fight it out... I installed a akylight in my apartment. The people upstairs are furious...
  22. It's not particularly obscure. It came out a year after Stuck in the Middle. Not as big a hit, but it made the Top 40. I remember hearing it on the radio back in the day.

  24. Just for kicks... here's the other end of it...
