  1. A simple, cheap alternative... a 99ยข bag of cotton balls from the dollar store and a little tap water to moisten them. Q-tips to get into tighter areas. Probably would still need some sort of soft makeup brush too. The trick isn't so much cleaning the models, it's keeping them clean, which is where those plastic display cases come in. They're pretty cheap when you buy them in quantity: http://www.collectingwarehouse.com/Product-Home-Page/Acrylic-Display-Cases-for-Die-Cast-Cars
  2. Then there's always clear plastic display cases to solve the problem once and for all. http://www.hobbylinc.com/plastic_model_display_cases Says it's meant to clean delicate electronics like motherboards. I assume it would have to be.
  3. A more sanely priced alternative? http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221470384253?lpid=82
  4. Ditto. Best price you'll find anywhere. It's the thin, watery kind... not gel-type, but not an issue for me. If you like the gel-type, you'll have to look elsewhere, but for me you can't beat that 4-pack from Walmart.
  5. I have no idea. I can't even begin to figure out the post office. The worst part is my friend paid $9 to mail me the package. Obviously he didn't put an empty package in the mail... the book was lost/stolen/whatever while in the possession of the post office. There should be some sort of process where the money he spent on postage would be refunded to him.
  6. What irked me today? Another "post office moment." A friend of mine mailed me a copy of his new book, for me to give him feedback. The package arrived. Empty. Seriously. They delivered an empty envelope to my house.
  7. That depends on what you personally consider "good quality." There are definitely still the "big names" appearing there. Whether or not you like any of them is personal opinion, but yes, the "big stars" still appear there. I've seen Penn and Teller's show there, the Beatle's/Cirque du Soleil "Love" show (amazing!!!), big name comics, etc. There is something for everyone, from the adults-only stuff to family-friendly shows that you can safely take your kids and grandma to and not be embarrassed by what you see/hear. If you can't find a show in Vegas that appeals to you, you're not trying!
  8. Ok, I think everyone who wanted to chime in has by now. We've heard both sides, any further comments would only be rehashes of opinions already stated. Thanks for all of your input, but it's time to call this one "finished."
  9. I don't have a problem with a movie without cursing or violence. In fact. I have a problem with movies that have cursing and violence. I don't see either one as "entertainment," but given what Hollywood puts out these days, it's pretty much unavoidable.
  10. A noble effort. You could work at the UN! Still wondering about the "Ralphie Centuries," though...
  11. Actually it was May 23, 1934...
  12. A little birdie tells me that Philco was owned by Ford when those promos/radios were made...
  13. LV has so much more to offer than gambling. I don't gamble. At all. Zero. But between the shows, the food, the other attractions, the shopping, and the thousand and one other ways to have fun there, trust me, you don't have to ever gamble even once to have a fantastic time there. I did, and you would, too. You have to see LV at least once in your life. Gambling is not mandatory! Or even necessary!
  14. Starting bid only $6.99? I would have thought they'd be a little more valuable than that, especially if the radio still works, like Chris said. Are they really that common?
  15. Carl, are you talking about "Jersey Boys?"
  16. I thought about locking this a long time ago. But no forum rules have been broken. Everyone is just stating their opinions, and that's fine. No reason to lock this as long as we all play by the rules... and so far everyone has. I do think the point has been made, both my opinion and the opposing point of view. But as long as the debate remains civil, everyone is free to add their thoughts. That's how we operate here. BTW Marty... speaking of forum rules, posting your full name is one of them.
  17. You should know him. He's a big name in automotive history...
  18. Read the last paragraph of the post I made just prior to yours. Read it carefully. Then get back to me.
  19. A couple of points here. First, nobody was whining. I was stating my opinion. Just as you just did. Were you "whining" too? Second, nobody's posts here were censored. Whether people agreed with my point of view or they disagreed, all the comments are posted right here for you to read. Nothing was censored. So right off the bat, you're comments are misguided on that point. Third. Here's a little experiment you might want to try. Assuming you have an account "over there," just for the sake of enlightening yourself, post up a topic raving about Marcos Cruz's Cuda in the current issue of MCM. Or for that matter, any feature in the current issue of MCM, it has nothing to do with Marcos. Any feature in the current MCM. And be sure to mention MCM. Go ahead. Try it. And then watch and see how long it takes for your post to get deleted. Then get back to me and tell me who's getting their panties in a twist. Deal?
  20. Oh yeah, baby! Every time I've been there, I've eaten like a king! And gained the pounds to prove it!
  21. I've been there 3-4 times. Fun place, tons of stuff do do/see, even if you're not a gambler (as I am not). I saw a lot of terrific shows and ate some awesome food. Definitely a "must do" if you've never been. But I agree with you... it was nice to get back home!
  22. New GM dealership SOP: Thanks for buying GM. Here is your owner's manual, here are your keys... and here is your recall notice.
  23. At this point, maybe not a bad idea! This ongoing GM saga is just amazing. And not in a good way. It's mind-boggling how many different recalls they've issued this year. This is going to appear in the history books one day.
